You are correct that it would be a nightmare scenario but Berry is such a "nice guy" who won a national title that I do not think anyone would pony up the dough. They will let his contract run out and bid him farewell.
-
And what boosters will pay for it? Kris isn't paying for it...
-
It is in the eyes of the fans but not in the eyes of the school. I highly doubt the school "buys-out" Berry. Staff members will be let go before the school fires Berry.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
siouxkid12 replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
Why take a chance with any team then? Playing Bemidji and developing a rivalry with them is a good thing for local/college hockey. Have you seen UND in the pairwise lately? With the way we have been the last few years, I wouldn't be going around knocking other teams while saying it "hurts" us to play them. Guess what, if we wouldn't have tied them last year, we would've been in a better position in the Pairwise. If they are an easy team to beat, then we should beat them. All you need to do in college hockey is win your games, the rest will take care of itself. It's time for our fanbase to get over this "we are better than other teams" mentality, its sickening. -
2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Can you explain your reasoning? I am seriously curious -
I’d say we probably have gotten the best warroad has produced over the years.
-
Generational gap? Please! you named 6 players out of over 300 players that have played hockey elsewhere. I wouldn't exactly say UND has a strong "foothold" on the Warroad players like you think.
-
What do you mean a foothold? Oshie and Nelson are the only ones that have came to UND from Warroad (Lee Marvin was another one). There has been A LOT of talent that has gone elsewhere from there. It's always been a neutral ground.
-
That would be foolish for all parties. Washington is an aging team that needs to be rebuilt but wont until Ovie passes Gretzky.

2023 National Championship Game: Quinnipiac vs. Minnesota
siouxkid12 replied to Kevin G's topic in Men's Hockey
Minnesota got conservative or the players for Quinnipiac shut them down? As much as you guys are saying "No disrespect to Quinnipiac" you really are disrespecting them. You are basically saying that the Gophers shouldn't have lost when they were up by two goals and Quinnipiac should've packed it in. I don't care what anyone says about Quinnipiac's strength of schedule or anything, they are a great team (stats back it up) and they consistently played well all year. -

If you're team is winning national championships, are you really going to stop going? You might but the average fan isn't going to stop going. -

It does make for a less entertaining game but when they goal is to win, you don't care what the fans think. -
2023 National Championship Game: Quinnipiac vs. Minnesota
siouxkid12 replied to Kevin G's topic in Men's Hockey
I wouldn't say there is a pattern, Motzko ran into a VERY VERY good team (and every metric stated it), that happens. And of those "pre-game" metrics that were talked about by the analysts, how many games were actually watched by them? I sat and listened to a lot of those dweebs and I just shook my head at how uninformed they were on college hockey and the teams that were playing. -
2023 National Championship Game: Quinnipiac vs. Minnesota
siouxkid12 replied to Kevin G's topic in Men's Hockey
Not going to dive too far into it but offensively Quinnipiac was #6 and ND was #7 (only by a slim margin) but the thing that separated them was UND's defense (which was ranked 2nd). -

So you're saying Motzko shouldn't have lost this game? Motzko can only coach so much and then his players have to execute and the players couldn't clearly execute once Pecknolds 1-1-3 neutral zone forecheck settled in (2nd period). Quinnipiac was relentless after the first period (which was obviously their worst). They had more shots on net and limited Minnesota's and they also won the faceoff battle (not a single Minnesota player was in double digit wins in the circle). Also, lets look at the stats and give credit to Quinnipiac before criticizing Minnesota. Yes, Minnesota was ranked higher and had more recognition than Quinnipiac throughout the season but dive into the stats and you will see that Quinnipiac was a much better team overall. Faceoff win % - Quinnipiac #2 Minnesota #15 PK % - Quinnipiac #4 Minnesota #12 PP % - Quinnipiac #15 Minnesota #4 Scoring Defense - Quinnipiac #1 Minnesota #6 Scoring Margin - Quinnipiac #1 Minnesota #2 Scoring Offense - Quinnipiac #3 Minnesota #2 (they are awfully close in this category though) Win % - Quinnipiac #1 Minnesota #3 Goalies - Quinnipiac (Perets) Winning %, GAA, Save % - #1/#2 in all those categories Minnesota (Close) #3/#4 in all those categories. This loss isn't on Motzko whatsoever, this was just a very good Bobcats team. -
At least with Mankato it's because the coaches is leaving...

JohnsonsJerseys is not selling knock-offs. I know the guy (actual last name is Johnson, hence the name JohnsonsJerseys) and he only deals with game worn jerseys.
-
Mankato paid Hastings very well, as they knew if they wanted to be a serious hockey program they were going to have to pay. I think it would be more of a lateral move pay wise for him to go from UND to Mankato.

YES!!!!!

Have you seen our fanbase lately? Take a look at that garbage facebook group "all things fighting sioux". We used to be a knowledgeable fan base but now we are just a bunch of whiny babies who want to get drunk, fight, talk crap and pop our counterfeit chinese sioux jerseys.
-
Now that Barry Alvarez is no longer the AD, I doubt it will take him long to turn that program around. They see the success that Penn State, Minnesota and Michigan have going on in hockey and they won't stand for it.
-
Small market or not, Berry still needs to respect (and I am sure he does) all the questions Brad would ask.
-
That's an honest take and actually I would agree with it. No one really knows what is going on behind the scenes, but what we do know is that this team underperformed BIG TIME this year and some changes were/are being made.
-
Yes, they could've been great but they also could've regressed in their development. It's no different than a 1st round pick getting his deal and then never even making it passed the AHL and moving onto foreign leagues. I am just saying that the portal can work in both parties' interests. We all know that Berry isn't going to let his assistants go so why not let the player leave that isn't able to do what they are coaching. You are correct in the fact that our "favorite" beat writer should be asking harder questions, instead of giving us a some lame duck article on who is all in the transfer portal and how it's an anomaly.
