  1. That's not necessarily restricted to Minneapolis. Remember 2002 when Denver won the WCHA regular season AND playoffs and got sent to Yost to play Michigan, while Minnesota also went to Yost but got to play Michigan State? Michigan fans were more than happy to cheer for Minnesota over their hated in-state rival. Most experts agreed and were quite stunned. The match-up that year should have been Minnesota playing Michigan and Denver playing Michigan State. Of course, the NCAA made up for it in the Frozen Four by making sure a referee called an obvious penalty on Adam Hauser for slashing in OT of the title game, which gave Maine a power play and resulted in their third national championship. Oh wait...nevermind...
  2. See above post...and cue Ed McMahon and his trademark "HHHHEEEEYYYYY OOOOOOHHHHH!".
  3. I'll admit, after Friday's thumping, I was a little incognito and minus a hockey jersey on Saturday. I wore a Sioux long sleeve t-shirt. No Maine hat...alas, I went with no hat at all.
  4. I was at Target Center a few weeks ago for a Timberwolves game...two attorneys next to me were busy hammering out an agreement between NWA and their striking mechanics.
  5. Thanks for making two valid points, redwing77. I scrolled thru this thread trying to find anyone (AND I MEAN ANYONE!) who would rip Foyt for his cheap shot and instead I actually saw a poster say that it didn't look like that bad of a hit. That 2-0 hockey game turned into 4-1 during that 5:00 that Foyt spent taking off his jersey for the night. I wonder, if Foyt had broken the guy's neck, would Sioux fans today be calling for him to be benched for the remainder of the season a la a certain Denver player who was discussed on this board last year. I'm tired of seeing these penalties, and given the fact that the Sioux watched one of their own carted off on a board last year, one would think they would be a bit more careful. And here we go again with the whining about Dave Hakstol...thanks for sticking up for him, redwing77. In other news, are you going to the Wild/Red Wings game on January 30th? I'll be there...front row, baby, section 115!
  6. At the same tournament, WPoS, Sioux fans waiting for the Al Pearson charter bus to show up were greeted by plenty of Gopher fans yelling "Sioux still suck" and "we hope Denver kicks your a** Saturday". It's unfortunate that fans like you and me can't seem to find each other at tournaments like this and it always seems that bad apples meet good ones, resulting in a potential altercation.
  7. Someone called? Hello Pizza Factory jerseys! You'll be wearing GREEN!
  8. After a couple of down years, it would be nice to have some new blood in the tournament. Go Vermont Catamounts and go Lake Superior State Lakers!
  9. Nothing special, I'm guessing. UMD mailed their allotment of Final Five tickets back to Xcel after last weekend's performance against Michigan Tech.
  10. WPoS, I'm embarrassed to say that you walked right by me without noticing. Shame. Late in Saturday's game, a puck flew into the stands after deflecting off Frazee's right shoulder. It was a little floater, a fan caught it, and proudly showed it off. About 5 minutes later, a 95 year old man comes down the steps and asks me (at least a dozen rows up from where the puck landed "ANYBODY HURT BY THAT PUCK?". I just about died laughing.
  11. Tickets are gone for Friday night...two still left for Saturday.
  12. Which ones are the "classy" ones, sagard? The ones who yell "Sioux suck" constantly or the ones yelling the "worthless piece of sh**" chant after every penalty called against the opposing team?
  13. Face value or maybe even less. Can't make the trip from Mpls to GF next weekend.
  14. As opposed to UND's matchup with Northeastern earlier this season?
  15. UNH in 2003 = Frozen Four semi-finalist BC in 2002 = Defending National Champion Sounds like pretty good competition to me.
  16. Too bad Ralphie wasn't thinking "Olympic-size" ice when he built the new REA, huh? UND has relied on speed for years, yet builds a cookie-cutter sized rink and then wonders how players get bottled up so easily.
  17. If the Sioux continue their tough times at home, maybe you'll see an about-face come March in a hastily-arranged meeting with the NCAA. I can see it now... UND Administration: "You've been right the whole time, NCAA. We need to move the west regional out of Grand Forks immediately." NCAA (Homer Burns as Myles Brand): "Excellent."
  18. Gotta love those new Nike "swift" jerseys. UGH!
  19. Wow...12:03 pm and 12:04 pm posts on the score. How's that for prompt replies to your question?
  20. Holy Angels 3, Moorhead 2.
  21. Next year, I think the Gophers should upgrade and stop playing the Mariucci Classic and start playing the Schwan's Cup! I can see it now... Bloomington Jefferson vs Minnesota Gophers Holy Angels vs Moorhead Even Dougie Woog mentioned last night that in the early-to-mid 1990's, there were some very good opponents brought into the "Dodge Mariucci Classic." As far as I'm concerned, the only meaningful tournaments during the regular season are the Great Lakes Invitational and the Beanpot. That and the "showdown" of Minnesota/Michigan/Wisconsin/Michigan State is worth watching, too, although not a traditional "tournament".
  22. Hey, paizon, it's pronounced "Ow-ha Ting."
  23. Hmnnnnnnn...I think I'm in favor.
  24. Isnt't that true about any commercial, GK? Show me a television commercial that makes fun of African-Americans? Can't find one. How about Native Americans? Nope. Wouldn't want to offend anyone. So instead, we poke fun at the dumb, slow white guy. We're all little Hitlers anyways, right? We deserve to be made fun of. And if you don't believe me, just go ask a leprauchan, because, after all, they're the true representation of the Irish people.
