  1. That was pretty stupid. I'm surprised he didn't follow it up with "everyone in the building is seeing a fabulous hockey game...except for the people who are blind."
  2. Dudes, let's keep the bro-mancing on another thread, ok?
  3. Three things I need to put me in a good mood today (in order of importance): #3) A Gopher loss in Mankato #2) A state co-rec indoor broomball title to go with our state co-rec outdoor broomball title And #1) A Sioux win tonight Just win, baby! Or in Minnesota's case, just LOSE, baby!
  4. From what I saw, one guy was coming on as the other was going off. They were both standing on the ice about 1 foot from the boards. The puck was nowhere near them. For some interesting user comments, check out the www.twincities.com story (link below). I love the poster commenting about disaster if Wisconsin and Minnesota don't make the tournament... 5. I've been to Michigan Tech once and I can honestly say to MeanEGirl that fans in Houghton are THE BEST! My son was two years old at the time and the person I spoke with regarding tickets got us seats right behind the Sioux bench. I spoke with many fans who were curious how far I had driven for the games, where I was from, etc. I even ran into some of the Husky players at Little Ceasar's after the game and they were very complimentary of the Sioux. Just like I did when Alaska-Anchorage took the Final Five ice for the first time ever a few years ago, I stood up and applauded Michigan Tech's appearance last year at the Thursday play-in game. I was bummed they lost to clutch, grab, and hold your way to a 2-1 win Wisconsin Badger team, but it was nice to see the Huskies make it to the Final Five after a long absence. I can't say I'm hoping for a return trip to St Paul this year for your Huskies, MeanEGirl, but I think things are looking up on da UP for your hockey team. Good luck!
  6. Pretty funny how some people are quick to throw pot shots at other fans, but one guy says Brett Favre is over-rated...
  7. I guess the "Blarney's Study Group" set up by Minnesota still has some work to do.
  8. I'm hardly a conspiracy theorist, mikeypat15, but anyone who watched the IceBreaker games this past fall would have to wonder. RPI skated out to a 3-0 lead against the Gophers and almost IMMEDIATELY, the parade of Engineers skating to the penalty box took over the game. Before you could bat an eye, the Gophers had scored 4 goals and won the game. Go look at the boxscore if you don't believe me...someone didn't want the Gophers playing in the afternoon at the X and wanted them playing against Michigan in prime-time. After RPI scored at the 15:12 mark of the second period, here's your scoring: 16:44 of the 2nd: Stoa PPG 4:32 of the 3rd: Wheeler 4X4 10:52 of the 3rd: Kaufmann PPG 18:49 of the 3rd: Okposo PPG Last night, the whistles are tucked away in OT until a line-change results in a too many men on the ice penalty? Unbelievable.
  9. You could, but you actually don't have to...stop by the KE house and ask to see the 1990, 1991, and 1992 composite photographs.
  10. I'm just teasin' ya. I was in a "frat," too, back in the day. I have fond memories of my gelled-up spiky mullet.
  11. I make it to REA once or twice a year and couldn't agree with you more, Sioux_Yeah_Yeah. Anything that helps crowd noise there is a bonus.
  12. Make an announcement that beer sales have been cut off early...they'll stand AND make noise.
  13. Lost it at the Sigma Chi house last night?
  14. I guess the reason I don't like "phony noise thingies" is because I'm a fan of straight-up crowd noise. Duke basketball is a good example and, as much as I hate to say it, I can think of two examples of the loudest crowds I have heard at the X: 2002 NCAA championship OT goal 2007 WCHA Final Five Blake Wheeler goal
  15. Ouch! I can disagree with someone on EVERYTHING else, but if they're wearing a Sioux jersey, we will always have something to talk about.
  16. I thought Gopher fans were going to make the Midwest Wireless Alltell Center 'Mariucci South'? I was surprised when I got home and watched the 2nd OT and saw the empty section near the end of the arena.
  17. I don't have anything against noise but thunder sticks (or stix as they like to say) are annoying.
  18. We're one game away from the Sioux making a trip to St Paul. A win tonight and siouxsports.com fans need to start planning on Saturday morning brunch!
  19. ...either that or the keg stand, huh?
  20. Nebraska Omaha didn't do much better against Michigan. Embarrassing.
  21. Someday, I am going to blow up the office that houses the management of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in retaliation for inventing the "thunder stick." The wave? Great idea. Parachute pants and thunder sticks? Hmnn...not-so-much.
  22. A great shot indeed, but, WOW, one of the greatest shots in recent history? That's a stretch. We're not talking about a Lorenzo Charles dunk at the buzzer to give a team an NCAA championship here. I bet you could find a dozen similar buzzer beaters from any regular season or conference tournament game this year alone. One of the greatest in RECENT HISTORY? Wow.
  23. I agree 100%. Just a minute or so after a Maverick is hauled down on a scoring chance (I believe good ol' Frank called it "finishing a check), a ticky-tack too many men on the ice penalty? Justice is served by the short-handed goal.
