  1. I'm still taking Gwoz to Maine...hockey is king at Maine. Hockey is 75th on the list of things to do in Columbus.
  2. Just had a Gopher fan tell me that his Gopher fan friend heard that Quinnipiac wanted to be 'really really good' in hockey so they got a bunch of 25 and 26 year old Canadians to go to school there...good grief...some people are just so uninformed.
  3. It would also place more emphasis on winning regular season games, wouldn't it? Conference playoff champions would still get an auto-bid, but if your team wasn't ranked in the top 8, you'd be on the road.

I love how people always point out the brilliance of a guy who coached two of the top players of all-time (Jordan and Pippen) with the Bulls and two more (Shaq and Kobe) with the Lakers. I'd like to see how Phil Jackson handled a mediocre-talent team like the Philadelphia 76'ers, Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, or Denver Nuggets. Let's be honest...Wilbur or I could have stumbled into a championship if given ten years to coach Michael and Scottie.
  5. I'd be fine if the top 8 seeds in the first round host a best two out of three and then have the top four seeds remaining host a best two out of three for the right to go to the Frozen Four. Imagine the excitement on campus at BU, BC, Grand Forks, Minneapolis, Houghton, Miami, Denver, Bemidji, South Bend, Ann Arbor, Mankato, etc. with home crowds cheering on their teams. If you finish in the top eight in the country, your reward should NOT be traveling to a wasteland with 1,900 fans in it or worse yet, a near-home rink of another team.
  6. All the more reason I had to get this ball rolling, jim. I wanted to get this done before SiouxSports.com gives way to FreezeSports, ChillSports, or SparklyUnicornSports.com.
  7. I would take Greg Johnson's four years over Paul Kariya's season-and-a-third any day of the week.
  8. http://theduffelbag.bangordailynews.com/2013/04/14/national/search-for-university-of-maine-hockey-coach-should-not-be-rushed/?ref=blogswidget
  9. Great pic. Still can't believe the Wolverines lost to Sargent Central.
  10. We agree to disagree. I don't think Maine's first choice is a guy who sits on Whitehead's own staff. Gwoz is practically begging for the job. I will be stunned if he's not the top choice.
  11. UMass-Lowell is tough. They're my pick to win it all this year.
  12. So you're saying that they're a safe bet for the NCAA tournament when the selection show announces this year's pairings later today?
  13. Most striking to me: Yale's goalie, when asked at what point he felt the Bulldogs were going to be national champions. Answer? When the score was 1-0. Talk about playing with confidence.
  14. Sorry, I thought you meant conference tournament seed. Yale went 4-0 against the WCHA this year, beating Denver, Colorado College, Minnesota, and North Dakota. Bruce McLeod should do the right thing and FedEx Yale the Broadmoor Trophy.
  15. Do you ever 'clean up' or delete members who haven't been active for a long period of time? I have noticed a number of members who haven't been active in YEARS or who signed up, posted once, and haven't been back since. Just curious...
  16. Yale was the ECAC #3 seed for the tournament. The RPI Engineers were the #2 seed. So much for the theory about going into the NCAA tournament 'on a roll' too. Yale didn't score a goal in its two ECAC playoff losses - Union beat the Bulldogs 5-0 and Quinnipiac beat them 3-0 in the 3rd place game. Four game later, they're NCAA champions. Simply...wow.
  17. They thought Whitehead was headed to Denver? They're kidding, right?
  18. 'If' being the key word there. Yale doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. They're 2007 Michigan State...only better.
  19. 32 goals and 63 assists in his senior year. Wow.
  20. BTW, congratulations also should go out to a great Quinnipiac team. Everyone laughed at the prospect of the Bobcats being the number one team in the tournament but they proved themselves worthy. I can only imagine how crushed that team is right now...
  21. Agree 100%. I pointed out somewhere else recently that 9 teams that had never been to the Frozen Four have made their first appearance there since 2008. I've seen enough Bemidji State, RIT, Ferris State, Union, UMass-Lowell, Quinnipiac, and St Cloud stories in recent years to believe that despite BC title domination, anyone can make the Frozen Four and have a chance to win it.
  22. You will be skewered for those comments here...but I could not agree more with you on your observations.

The numbers look a bit smaller...or else I need my eyes checked.
