  1. I agree, bale31. Minnesota State just won its first-ever Broadmoor Trophy is what was an entertaining WCHA "Final Five" in Grand Rapids. They're in a great position (simply due to their geographic location) to play non-conference games against St Cloud, Duluth, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and perhaps even Michigan or Michigan State. I'd be surprised as well if they were suddenly looking at jumping ship to the NCHC, particularly after what was arguably the best season of Maverick hockey ever.
  2. ...San Jose and Joe Thornton somehow find a way to add to their playoff 'legacy' by coming up with new and excruciating ways to under-achieve in the playoffs year after year. They will do so again on Wednesday by losing to the Kings...by blowing a 3-0 series lead...despite having game 7 on home ice...by giving up the game-winner with .6 left on the game clock.
  3. I don't know how that was a goal...moot point now though.
  4. Red ones are awful too. New whites are a thing of beauty.
  5. Snow shower penalty on the Kings? Lame.
  6. The wheat piping separating green shoulders from green jersey body just kills it for me. No shoulder patches? They look like Christmas trees on skates.
  7. Buyer beware: If the yellow on the crest outline doesn't even remotely match the yellow on the jersey itself, it's a fake.
  8. Nope. Just an observation. Speaking of observations, who is the fan with the Chinese-made North Stars knock-off jersey sitting right behind Yeo? That thing is awful.
  9. Koivu with a sneaky trip on the turnover right at the blue line...
  10. Jersey-watch update: Colorado's jerseys have always been dreadful but Minnesota's green and wheat jerseys are absolutely brutal.
  11. LOL @ Wild fans...seems like every fan in the stands is throwing a hand up in the air while screaming for a penalty on anything and everything that happens on the ice tonight...and I absolutely detest Colorado...
  12. LOL...yea..nevermind the sissy move of throwing your batting helmet at the pitcher because he yelled at you...minor league.
  13. Yep, the only stunner with the Wild's decision-making with Heatley is that he hasn't been dumped...in favor of Brian Bonin.
  14. The Kings should still be kicking themselves for losing in the '93 finals to the Canadiens. I suppose the title a couple of years ago has taken the sting away from that wound, but still...that series was all theirs...Marty McSorley's stick was all that kept them from going up 2 games to 0 and headed to Los Angeles for games 3 and 4.
  15. Gee, was that Saint Mikko Koivu on TV last night saying that he's played outside the rules this series too? Say it ain't so, Mikko, say it ain't so...
  16. I agree. On one hand, some of us (myself included) are arguing for the NCAA tournament to go back to top-seed-playing-in-their-own-rink format and now all of a sudden the argument is popping up for LESS home games so we can have more teams and more games in a "neutral-ice" setting? Count me out.
  17. Oxford OH and Kalamazoo MI replaced Minneapolis and Madison on the travel schedule for the Colorado schools. Relatively short bus rides to Sault Ste Marie, Bowling Green, South Bend, Ann Arbor, East Lansing, and Big Rapids for Miami and Western Michigan have been replaced by trips to Grand Forks, Duluth, Omaha, St Cloud, and Colorado. That's a huge jump in travel expenses for those two schools.
  18. Completely agree. The Wild will never be the North Stars and Jets 2.0 is not the red white and royal blue of the original Jets.
  19. In Detroit's defense, Dave, captain Steve Yzerman was hurt in game 3 of that series and barely played in the two overtime loss, then didn't play at all in games 4 or 5. In addition, Manny Legace stirred up his own goalie controversy by publicly stating before the series that if Detroit was eliminated, he would not be returning as a Red Wing the next season. Not making excuses, but that Red Wings team was primed to be upset by Edmonton.
  20. I've been a Red Wings fan since I was old enough to know the difference between a basketball and a puck...Yzerman wasn't on the team yet, Joe Louis Arena was a morgue even on game day, and the team was known as the "Dead Things," not the "Red Wings."
  21. My apologies then, I give you credit for being a long-time Blackhawks fan.
  22. You can't compare Miller's numbers with the Sabres to Halak's with the Blues...Buffalo was dreadful this year.
  23. Well, considering you've been a "die-hard" Blackhawks fan for about, oh, I'm gonna guess 5-6 years now, your comment shouldn't be surprising...
  24. You don't think he was an upgrade over Halak?
  25. Is there a more-snake-bitten playoff team than the St Louis Blues? Great teams in the 90's and 2000's and they rarely make it out of the first round.
