To be fair, I think Ferris State was actually the higher seed in that tournament.

And people wonder why they hate us. I seem to recall an “unfinished business” video shot by our own team before the start of the 2020-2021 season…or is my mind fuzzy? And you do recall Chris Kunitz and an inferior Ferris State team beating North Dakota too in the NCAA’s, right? I’d prefer to tout UND’s own accomplishments before bagging on other teams’ lack of them.

Speaking of obsession…what’s your take on our own “All Things Fighting Sioux” Facebook fan base so triggered by Hawks shoulder patches that they they will buy an authentic NODAK jersey, rip off said patches, and replace them with ND or Sioux head patches? As I thought about this after last night’s loss, a few things were put into perspective for me. I drove to Grand Forks with my youngest two boys for the weekend series on January 3rd and 4th, 2020. Never in my wildest nightmares did I imagine what would happen to my life as I knew it since then - and I’m not just talking about Covid. Fast-forward to March 2022 and I was able to enjoy a good weekend of hockey at the X with those same two boys as well as my best friend. I also reunited with the band at the Hoggsbreath for the first time in really 4 years as the 2019 brunch consisted of all of 4-5 people since UND didn’t make the trip to St Paul. I’m thankful that I had the chance to watch my favorite team in person for the first time in over two years and shake hands with some old friends once again. Without the boys in green and white chasing a puck around, I would not have had the opportunity for either. So we’ll close the books on the 2021-2022 season and I’ll look forward to next fall when we do it all over again. Can’t wait.

I also heard that the hot tub temp this season has been lukewarm at best - that’s a sure fire way to scare away recruits.

I’m just gonna sit at home, turn on the TV, and hope that the next Covid variant takes me out before that game’s over.

That era was a total failure as titles were not won in 1979 and 1981. Unacceptable.

But now it’s time to run Berry and Jackson out of town!
