I am proud to be a Hawk-Anon member. We are going to hit the “great reset” on UND athletics too — and everyone will bow down to the Fighting Hawks logo.

I own both of those authentic jerseys…but I took a seam ripper to the Sioux logos and replaced them with Hawks patches.

Because coach and eventual AD Roger Thomas wasn’t a fan of it and wanted its use minimized. UND’s use of the interlocking ND on the helmets dates back long before your time - and mine.

Nice try. How many NFL and college football jerseys have the school primary logo front and center on the chest of the jersey? The short answer is “none,” because there’s a number there. It’s on the UND helmet because that’s where the primarily logo is typically placed for a football team.

Be careful in posting this - I believe NODAK cards are covered as “merchandise” under the trademark.

Hopefully this was all much ado about nothing. That’s my hope anyways.

And what a great way to market your brand by having 175 different identities. Maybe McDonald’s should try making their locations recognizable by changing the colors, going with “Mickey D’s or Mack Daddy’s… …wait, a separate brand sounds like a horrible idea. But at least there aren’t Hawks logos on the hockey jersey fronts.

I’ll set the over/under on the “interim head coach” at January 1, 2023.

Ya think? This was probably a quick phone call to Las Vegas to see if a certain booster wouldn’t mind ponying up $100K or so to purchase the trademark and then “give” it to UND. Brad gets some hockey jerseys for his team to placate the “Sioux Forever” mob, said donor continues to be the superhero, and daddy’s girl quietly makes a few bucks on the side. Everyone’s a winner. But that’s probably just wild speculation on my part…

I have a hunch he’d have gladly written this article had it involved NDSU football too.

I suppose it’s possible that Ms. Berry was just waiting to give UND a nice Christmas present a few weeks from now…

There was certainly money to be made if UND was in “negotiations” to buy the trademark…

I’m trying to imagine the Georgia or Alabama football programs or North Carolina basketball program branding a 100% separate identity from the rest of university sports and what the fan reaction might be if the kids of the respective head coaches happened to hold the trademark licensing to that identity… @Frozen4sioux big nothingburger?
