Belfield High School's nickname was the Bantams. Never occurred to me in my four years there that my GPA might have been higher if the team had been called Greyhounds, Kings, or Wolverines.

I'd be curious as to how a school sports nickname could "hinder" your education...I knew students during my time at UND who not once stepped foot inside Hyslop, Memorial Stadium, or the old REA.

Nothing to see here, UND Fan, move along. Just enjoy the NDSU/SDSU game tonight on ESPN2 and keep telling yourself that UND is the far better program as opposed to NDSU in the "Slummit." The Bison gained no statewide or nationwide exposure in last year's national TV 12 vs 5 upset of Oklahoma. Why worry about that happening again this year? BF and BJ...Oxbow6 and I are looking for a place to watch the big game tonight. Maybe it can be shown live at The Ralph?

Maine needs to right the ship soon. College hockey is much more fun when the Black Bears have a quality team.

jimdahl, thanks for your explanations here. One more question for you. Is there a scenario that could happen in the Michigan/Michigan State and Minnesota/Penn State series' that would result in the conference imploding? I would think that a Nittany Lion sweep would drop every B10 team out of the top 16, but would a split in Minneapolis do that as well?
