Why didn't anybody question Wayne Stenjeum on this? He agreed to this....why? Did he think UND would get SR to come to their senses or did he see this as an end to the nickname once and for all. Everyone blames the NCAA lets start blaming Stenjeum too. He didn't have to accept this offer by the NCAA with multiple tribes, but yet no one questioned him on it. I heard it was a trade off for more years to get approval...how did that work out?

That would be JBB. Over on CS.com he wants UND to keep the nickname (guess why) and he loves the "Dakota Big 3".

Of course we would be just North Dakota to the rest of the world and UND would be wearing new hockey jerseys. Because of the NCAA sanctions.

Since USD has a new coach you could be seeing a new team than you guys played a couple years ago. Good offensive team, and very tough at home. I think they will be towards the bottom of the pack their first year.

We could give our opinion on the MVFC since we have played SDSU, SIU, and USD since moving up..but we did beat UNI in 06 so we know all about their team.

What fun is that? Lets go back and forth on who has the best cheerleaders or the best parking lots. Actually with pics the cheerleader option may not be such a bad idea.

Bison Dan was saying he is happy with NDSU's current exposure (KVLY) so I told him he is in the minority because NDSU fans want more exposure (what team wouldn't). UND is doing that with FCS and their own channel (UNDSN) so don't you think a UND-NDSU game would really be more worth while if say alumns in Miami or LA could see the game not just alums in Detriot Lakes or Williston?

Don't you have to battle Minnesota for games on that? If not the Gophers but the Twins too.

You may be fine with the game on KVLY if you get it but to Bison alums across the country not to mention recruits outside the viewing area which is as far east as Bemidji its not fine with them. As they say think outside the box...to NDSU the box is the tri state area..to UND its the country.

Closest would be 2015 unless they move the NDSU-USD game to a conference game instead of non-conference in 2014 (back end of home and home). UND is full in 2013 unless they want 12 games. 2013 and 2014 are 12 game seasons for the FCS.

I do believe the Nickel is retired for good. I don't think a replacement will be there unless the two are in the same conference or agree to play every year.

Thats the number one reason to schedule it. It would be fun to play the closest team to your school and your most hated rival. As I would like to see UND play the other Dakota teams just one game with NDSU could really get the ball rolling on renewing the rivalry.

It is the same thing. Both teams are not in the same conference, both teams starting this fall will be fighting for a playoff spot, there is a lot to play for...plus media exposure which every Bison fan knows UND is much more superior than NDSU. UND at NDSU basketball...not televisied...NDSU @ UND televised on multiple channels and available across the country on Fox College Sports. Don't you think seeing NDSU on tv would help recruiting? Which is going to bring more money to the FM area UND @ NDSU or Robert Morris @ NDSU?

Why should Florida play Florida State? Why did Sac St play UC Davis every year? There was nothing to gain, not in the same conference, so why did they do it?

Accoding to Dom Izzo there are only 15-20 FCS teams left to schedule which is about 20 teams less than he tweeted last week. So time is running out on their 11th game. Do they choose another FBS team, do they suck it up and play a NON-DI opponent, or just play 10 games. The new soap opera continues.

I say the MVC would be ideal because of baseball and a better basketball conference.

How about MVC for everything...That would be great!!!!

MVFC is attractive for football (plus reuniting with the Dakota 3) but there would be no home for the other sports except the SL. Which IMO isn't so attractive.

Its not like NDSU would have won every game. UND beat Southern Utah and Northern Iowa while we were in DII. SDSU lost to DIII Wisconsin-Lacrosse. So anything could have happened.

It took Central less than 3 years to pick a new name and that was with minor protesting. No lawsuits no petitions, and no new state laws.
