In DII we won 2 national titles in 1997 (hockey, and women's basketball), 2001 we won it all in football and came close to winning it all in hockey (damn you BC). Now in DI we only have shots in 2 sports, hockey and football, but to make a dent in the dance would be one hell of an accomplishment.

The nickname issue is gone. We are the Fighting Hawks no matter how much people bitch and moan and curse at one another. Fighting Sioux has been gone for now 7 years, and there is no bringing it back. Should we have had more say on the logo...ABSOLUTELY!!! In no way it should it have been decided by one man (Ed Schafer). But it is what it was, and we all know the REA doesn't like the logo thats obvious by the lack of it in the Ralph and ignoring the coaches plea to have it at center court in the Betty. Should there be a call for a new logo, maybe, but what logo could everyone get behind when not everyone is behind the nickname itself. Kennedy and company are doing their best to brand the school with the new name, he knew it would be an uphill battle with die hard Sioux fans who despise any name other than Sioux, so he decided to appeal to younger and newer fans with a mascot. There are more and more Fighting Hawk fans in the crowds and around town, not close to all the Sioux fans but it is growing and thats a fact. It will take more time to be acceptable, but bickering at fellow UND fans because of what they cheer for is just sad. We are all UND fans whether you cheer for the Hawks or the Sioux. Can we all just get along.

And the point you missed is their coaches haven’t been there that long compared to our coaches.

More like 1 title every 5.6 years in the Old REA compared to 1 title in 17 years (18 of we don’t win it all this year) in the new REA.

No but saying without the fancy hockey and basketball arenas our athletic program would be screwed is far fetched.

The old Engelstad Arena produced 5 National Titles, the Hyslop Sports Center saw 3 women's national titles. I think housing them wouldn't have hurt the programs. Since 2001 when the REA opened, only 2 National Titles in UND's major sports, 2001-Football and 2016-hockey.

Those coaches haven't been at the school since the DII days like Jones. He should've been canned long ago, the dance trip is the only thing that saved his butt. Mussman 2.0

People will be on here to excuse another Jones loss, like they do every season. Young team, no money, transfer, etc. Doesn’t matter as long as we make an effort in the tournament. So everyone should just be calm because in March Jones will take UND to the promise land and knock off those South Dakota teams at basically their home court. And why would people bitch about Augustana joining the Summit when we have a hard time beating our old NCC foes.

New England struggles at Miami. Lost to a miracle this year and lost to Jay Cutler last year.

It will have the Hawk logo on it, just like the REA had no say on the Hawk logo on the jerseys. They control the building not the product playing in it. Banners belong to the University.

So the interlocking ND would be used for the 59 and 63 banners while the Blackhawk logo would be for 80, 82, and 87. Geometric for 97 and 2000, then interlocking ND for 16. I wonder if people would be mad with the BB logo taken off a lot of banners.

Don’t know if it was posted but Sept 14th against Sam Houston State will be the Potato Bowl. I hope they don’t combine it with Homecoming like last season.

Scoreboard looks incredible. I’ve seen comments on Facebook about why no women’s hockey when they can spend money on a scoreboard, they don’t know it’s not UND’s money. Now let’s put that scoreboard to good use and get some goals on that board.

Now that conference is a joke. Niners, and Cards are pathetic and Seahawks have fallen from their powerful state. All divisions change powerhouses. Where was New England in the 90’s, 80’s and 70’s?

Those were bad times towards the end of Gino's career. Took Dean Blais to turn things around.

Does anyone know when the last time UND missed the NCAA tournament in back to back years?
