could you repost that please, I don't remember seeing it.

Be happy you live in a state that doesn't threaten your school board with fines and jailtime for making this decision.
-
My son's daycare was open all summer, nobody got sick, because nobody was tested. My son's private school(forced to go because the public school is online) has been open with zero problems since Labor day, nobody is sick because nobody is tested. It's almost like a pattern is emerging from all of this.
-
Ok...but they opened right? How many kids/teachers have been hospitalized?
-
I know there are teachers out there who want to be back in schools full-time, but as a group, teachers have really lost all respect from me for this fiasco. Someone explain to me how private schools are safe to be open, but public schools are not.

How ironic, posting jabs at the other side for voicing their opinions on a message board that won’t make a difference in the real world, while you voice your opinion on a message board that won’t make a difference in the real world. Tell us more about how enlightened you are.

Stating the obvious? Must not have been so obvious to your side of the aisle when the allegations were leveled and your sides “henchmen” were throwing a tizzy.
-
Timing is everything in politics, Trump didn’t become a racist until mid 2016 and Cavanaugh wasn’t a gang rapist until he was nominated for the Supreme Court, interesting how that works.
-
It must have been so surprising for them to find out they weren’t black.
-
It’s a good question. This isn’t my opinion, the numbers bear this out, we’ve learned that the restrictions put on from state to state ultimately don’t have an effect. The only variable that seems to matter is number of tests. More tests=more cases
-
Why are you so shocked by this? Power will be wielded in someone's favor when they have it, it's so prevalent it's basically a law of nature.
-
You can say whatever you’d like to make it seem different, but it’s not. In 2016, Dems were for an election year appointment and confirmation. In 2020, they are against it. In 2016, Republicans were against it and now are for it. Each party equally flip flopped when it was to their benefit.
-
Both sides completely flipped their positions, to say McConnell is a bigger hypocrite simply shows your bias. They both did literally the exact same thing, complete 180 on their positions from four years ago.
-
Don't take it personally, the Dems would do the same if they had the opportunity. Elections have consequences as they say, power is going to be wielded.
-
And according to the Dems from 2016 you CAN do a confirmation in an election year. So who's the bigger hypocrite in 2020? They all suck.
-
The senate can vote however it likes on any given issue. There are repercussions for being unreasonable, but yeah, refusing to confirm a justice because he/she was nominated by a president from the opposing party is technically within their right any time during a presidency. I would hope it doesn't come to that, but politics is a dirty game and these a holes will use any leverage they have to their advantage on both sides of the aisle. Which I hate, btw.
-
Look into the history, what is happening now is exactly what the precedent has always been. If you have the presidency and control of the senate and election year nomination and confirmation hasn't been an issue historically.
-
This isn't a smart precedent to set. Every time the same party has the presidency and the senate they'll just up in again.
-
So what would happen to Twitter and Facebook following this if it were up to you?
-
Given your history on this forum, forgive me if I don’t believe that you’d have this level of indifference if it were a left leaning oxe being gored.
-
Hospitals are near there capacities more due to the pent up demand for elective surgeries than Covid. What percent of the states beds are filled with Covid patients?
-
Don’t kid yourself, they’ve been doing this for years. I forget the number, but a large percentage of people get their news from Twitter. Twitter built their platform to allow people to believe that it is just free flowing information for and from its users. If you’re going to to censor and choose which stories get preferential treatment then you need to be completely transparent about that to the public.
-
This is a red herring, we’ve never had capitalism without some restrictions in any industry.
-
I’d be interested to hear from any of our left leaning friends on here and their thoughts on this Twitter and Facebook scandal. Even if you say the story is unconfirmed, how can a story written by a journalist at the country’s fourth largest newspaper be censored? This is outrageous regardless of how you feel about the story. These people need to be in front of congress Monday morning getting their butts handed to them.

Excellent post and your point is well made. In a single minded approach, false positives don’t matter because it still allows a person to defend quarantining a person “out of an abundance of caution” and “better safe than sorry”. Never mind that this person quarantining could mean time away from a job that they need to pay bills(legally they can’t fire you, but they don’t have to pay you). Its time for people to see the whole picture instead of dogmatically adhering to our current approach that is decimating people’s lives financially.
