Ticket numbers definitely help the bottom line but UND (and similar schools) don't and can't rely on ticket numbers to keep an athletic department running.

I'm also coming from Denver. I'm guessing that Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning flights are going to be pretty full with Sioux fans. I recommend going to the Old Market area after the games. I've been to the Dubliner (downstairs Irish bar) every time I've been in town and it's always fun. The coaches and some of the UND staff have come out for post-game drinks as well. It's a chance for everyone to tell Hakstol why his system sucks and tell Hajdu how much you hate the TV deal Here's what the Alumni Assoc says about get togethers. Although, if you're looking for a pre-game drink I wouldn't go there. It's always ridiculously packed with Sioux fans and it takes 15 minutes to get a drink. It's a fun place to go if you've already had a few and just want to chat it up with other sioux fans. 09: UND Men's Hockey vs. Nebraska- Omaha Alumni Pregame Social The Old Mattress Factory Bar & Grill | 501 N. 13th Street, Omaha (Walking distance to the arena) 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (7:07 p.m. game time) Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

I'm happy because the NCHC seems to have a better social media footprint than the WCHA ever will. Top 5 plays highlights! And word on the street is they will also being doing a "Question of the Week" segment where they interview coaches and players from around the league. It's a nice way to get introduced to some of the new teams and coaches.

Pretty impressive attendance numbers so far for UND's women sports. Hopefully, all sports not played at the Alerus continue to see increased attendance numbers.
-
I personally am excited for the new top 5 nchc plays of the week videos and the new coach/player features the NCHC is planning to debut next week. I've really enjoyed how the new conference is taking the lead in social media and video.

Despite Molbergs "superior" mobility, Bartels has looked pretty mobile. He's moved and ran quite a bit tonight and looked good. Yes some bad throws, but his good throws are way better than Joe's. Start Ryan vs UNC.

Hakstol hasn't taught them how to skate and should be fired.
-
If you call that defensive PI on the endzone pass, you have to call that offensive PI on the next pass. He had both handfuls of UND's dback.

I'm assuming people will be off the charts thanking midco for showing the anthem, just like they were thanking midco for painting the wall behind them with a und logo. Of course, it will probably be silence because people love to bitch and not give credit when changes are actually made.
-
But with that crappy oline and his lack of movement, he's going to get sacked on every play

If you reestablish with both feet in, yes. Just a note: college is different in that you can't do the diving play to throw the ball back across the goal line. As soon as it crosses the plane, it's a touchback.

I couldn't find the thread I was looking for so I decided to post in this one... Does anyone know where I can get some fleece siouxsports.com hats?

They just won 3-2. Lost 1st set, won 2nd, lost 3rd, won 4th and then dominated in the 5th.

The NCHC is adding a Top 5 plays of the week and a player/coach feature video each week. Hopefully both will be aired in each arena and on Midco.

Midco would get money from DirecTV and Dish to air their channel. However, it's likely Midco wouldn't ask for a significant amount because it is in their best interest to get on satellite.
-
On Dish/DirecTV systems. I can't watch it on cable outside of the Root viewing area. Just like I can't watch Midco outside of the viewing area. DirecTV and Dish have their own set of rules. If DirecTV wanted to pick up UND hockey games and air them, they could do that.

The regional titles like Atlantic, Central and Pacific are just titles and aren't specifically regional channels. UND home games have been on all three over the years. They're just a way for FCS to split up all of the content they air onto three channels.
-
The CBS deal applies to national channels which have been designated for years. The national/regional title isn't something new. CBS clearly wanted exclusivity on national channels, which it got. UND is the only team that gets screwed because UND is the only school that has its games picked up on a national channel on a regular basis, although DU has had some games simulcast on FCS and Root. There is a reason Faison voted against the deal as he knew and made it very aware to other schools how much it would hurt UND. If the deal was designed to specifically screw UND then it wouldn't have allowed regional broadcasts either.

No. Fox Sports North can air a Texas Tech vs Texas football game. That's because Fox Sports produces that game and Fox Sports North is a regional entity of Fox Sports. It's different for NHL/NBA/MLB/NFL games due to contracts in place. Obviously, there won't be a lot of interest in a day-time Saturday Texas Tech v Texas football game in Minnesota. However, there are some Pac-12 football games aired on Fox Sports North on saturday nights because there isn't a lot of other live sports options available to them.
-
I apologize if I come off as frustrated and I understand the designation may be confusing. I didn't make the distinction between regional and national but I understand how it is divided. The regional/national distinction is solely due to cable networks. In Colorado Springs, I can't get Fox Sports North no matter how many tiers I buy. There is no way I can get that channel. It's the same with Midco, Root sports Pittsburgh and any other regional network. I can get FCS (and still do) on my Comcast subscription. Anyone with a cable setup has the possibliity to get FCS (it's up to the cable providers to actually offer that channel). DirecTV and Dish can get all of the regional networks on a tier and can also get FCS, which is put on a tier as well. That doesn't mean anything. DirecTV and Dish are the only two national television providers. They can essentially provide any channel to anyone. Cable systems can't do that. That is where the difference from regional to national exists. The viewership of regional vs national channels makes no difference. It's all how cable systems are setup and what channels they can show.
-
DirecTV and dish are available throughout the country. Comcast, Midco, etc are not available throughout the country. That's the difference. Regional cable systems throughout the country carry FCS. Regional cable systems throughout the country do not carry the FSNs or Root sports outside of their region. FCS is national because it is available nationally on cable systems. Fox Sports North is regional because it is not available nationally on cable systems. Midco is regional because it is not available nationally on cable systems.
