most of sioux's shots in the 1st are close up. most of mankato's are from the outside, bad angle.
-
deep bruise, he's day to day. they'll see if he can play for tomorrow night when we get to tomorrow.
-
that was only the first tooth lost this weekend, if he loses two more shepherd will finally call it.
-
end of 1. 2-0 sioux goals by Towes and Oshie. shots 12 - 8 for UND.
-
sioux on the pp.... 0-1 so far. they have some good pressure, couple nice shots. gophers up 3-0... wisco and tech are 0-0 after 1.
-
jones slashes backes, no call. parise slashes backes, no call. kisio slashes sioux player, shepherd calls it. jutting pissed that sioux players are spearing. clean it up boys.
-
prpich goes to the box for slashing.... announcers say it could have been a spear and a 5 minute. his play as of late has been detrimental to the team, i think. he needs to change his ways or he could be out for his final game as a senior.
-
Miller gets pulled down going into the Mavs zone... Shepherd just shakes his head. Toews on a goal, nice pass by Duncan. I thin it could get reviewed cause Toews might have been in the crease.
-
Parise playing the puck behind the net, Jones and Backes go into the net. Backes then checks Parise into the boards.
-
gophers score again, don't know who. 2-0 gophers, 11 min left in 1st.
-
Sioux passing not very crisp. Looks at lot like last night, very sloppy. Not a lot of pressure on the PP. 4 secs left on PP, no shots so far.
-
Gophers score 1-0. Kessel picks up some slop in front of the net.
-
Penalty on Jon Dubel.... prpich drew it. 15:50 left in 1st.
-
at least he is consistently bad. sioux cycling the puck in the corner very well.. hopefully it will come in handy in the 3rd when the mavs get tired of chasing.
-
stafford is out... day to day with a deep bruise. They will re-evaluate after UND wins tonight. parise in net again. tormey for the mavs.
-
bandwagon gopher fans are using all of the site's bandwith. it happens a lot when the gophers win at least 3 games in a row.

No love for the Sioux men's team? Sioux women's team has one starter (Devon Fingland) and two reserves (Mutrie and Girtz). West team consists of 3 WCHA players, some random midwest guys, and 2 D3 players. http://www.uscho.com/news/id,12249/NCAASki...sAnnounced.html

To redshirt a year, you have to have notified the NCAA early in the season. I'm assuming that she hadn't, and thus whether she played or not didn't matter towards losing a year of eligibility... she had already lost it. Also, just ask gopher men's hockey fans what they think about penalties being made public. With all of the bar/underage/booster stuff going on, it seems like fans should never be allowed to know why a player was suspended/cut.

I wouldn't be as scared if UND dropped to a 4 seed were I the number 1 ranked team in the regional. If UND gets beat 2 out of 3 to Mankato at home, how scary can they be? Sure it's a one and done format, but if UND can't beat the 7th seed in the WCHA, can they really beat a 1 seed in the NCAA?
-
Hypothetical, but what happens if Wisco gets swept by Tech? Do they drop enough that they become a 2 seed? Does that then mean that MN gets sent to Green Bay, because it's closer? That could give UND a home-ice regional with most likely the easiest trip to the Frozen Four. edit: i guess wisco doesn't have to drop to a 2 seed. they could get sent west too, which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world assuming elliott plays like he did vs makato.

It seems that when kessel faces any type of defensive attention (anything not 5v4), then he pretty much is even with oshie. I can't help but notice that when the Gophers PP goes just 1-7 against a bottom feeder, kessel doesn't get any points. It must be that extra defensive attention he got. Either that or when the Gophers bread and butter drops, so does kessel's "impact."
-
8 of kessel's assists are 2nd assists (28.5%) 6 of oshie's assists are 2nd assists (37.5%)
-
that st cloud/augie game should be pretty good.

what happens if UND beats the gophers in the final five? does that then become another "pointless game" that the gophers weren't trying in?
