Of course it is better to get a #1 seed knowing we won't/can't be up against a #1 seed in the first round. It is much better - stats speaking - to play the #(s) 16-13 teams than higher teams. That being said, and forget about the "anyone can beat anyone on any give night" schticht as that is old, I think that if we swept out the WCHA tourney and Final 5 and with UNH losing to a lower and some other HE losses combined with an upset in ND and others, we could be a #1 or at least the top #2 which would make a HUGE difference. My only hope is that Denver doesn't make the tourney and we get sent there or Michigan pairs up with us at their rink (as we all know how that has worked out in the past). I am not sure of the possible outcomes, but I would love for us to be a #2 AND get sent out East. Wishful thinking! ;(

Of course, Hirsch was delusional too (i.e. ah la scoring and tackling the goal to "exercise the demons" after a game last year). Seriously, Hirsch was a big loss, but Lucia has not done a good job of keeping his "stars" either grounded and/or happy. When UND had the players thay had in about 1997 - 2000, you NEVER heard any player talk about "touches" or "line pairings" or "ice time." Every person did everything they could for every moment they were on the ice - even when losing - and were happy just to be a part of the team (yes, even Jason Blake). This year is the first time in a long time we have gotten back to that feel. When we had Bo and Parise and Sparky and Zajac, we were "good" on potential, but average on chemistry. THIS team has chemistry and - above all else - selflessness, which is what Minnesota is missing and will continue to miss unless/until Lucia-pet remembers that players win games and shine. but teams win Championships and sustain. End of rant right now.

Amen brother... and I gotta say somethin that may not sit well with people... although I think Dean B. was a better motivator and better recruiter (or recruiter of recruiter and would take risks on smaller/faster players who were flying under the radar), I think Hak may just be a better coach when it comes to preparing his team for the worse and getting the best out of the talent he has (which, of course, is still credited to Dean B. at this point). In any event, congrats to the Sioux and Hak and - MAN - I can't wait to see my (*** sound of undlaw knocking on wood***) Sioux here in the Final 5 in a couple weeks!!!

How come no one answered my win over St. Lawrence but no RPI bonus question from last intermission? I need the info, people. How come we are getting no RPI "bonus" love for our win over SLU when they are a top 15 RPI team at the moment?

PWR/RPI Question... We beat St. Lawrence in the mid-season (i.e. Christmas break tourney) and they are both a TUC and a Top 15 RPI (and won their conference not that it matters for purposes of my question). How come we don't get any RPI bonus for that win? Was it because it wasn't a "scheduled" game on neutral ice (i.e. winner plays winner tourney format) or what is the answer? I am normally up on this but I can't figure it out using the RPI bonus rules...

But PCM... he still didn't pick the results for this weekend... seriously... if your keeping stats this is a very "convenient" weekend to "forget" to send in your picks isn't it? Either way, he just simply forgot to say Sioux v. Denver - 4-1, 3-2.
