  1. Sioux wearing black jerseys tonight
  2. Brad Schlossman has some info about TENTATIVE non-conference games next season and beyond @ Fairbanks Tournament (Alaska, Alaska-Anchorage) @ Notre Dame vs. Boston University vs. Holy Cross vs. Northern Michigan @ College Hockey Showcase in Florida and possibly a 4-year agreement with Wisconsin It's great to see UND scheduling a variety of teams and I love the fact that UND is not afraid to travel anywhere.
  3. Via UND Men's Hockey twitter - Brendan O'Donnell out for the season
  4. The NCHC has decided on a 24-game conference schedule http://www.denverpioneers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=18600&ATCLID=205375860 Via Schlossman on twitter
  5. College Hockey on NBC Sports Network Available Ratings: January 6 – Dartmouth vs. RPI, 38,000 viewers January 20 – Michigan vs. Notre Dame, 74,000 viewers January 27 – Yale vs. Harvard, 82,000 viewers Those numbers are a bit sad. I thought Notre Dame Dame vs. Michigan would be able to draw at least 100,000 viewers on name recognition/athletic prominence. I wonder what kind of ratings college hockey gets on the Big 10 Network and CBS Sports. EDIT: Now that I look at NHL ratings on NBC Sports Network, the college hockey numbers aren't too shabby.
  6. UND's web series "Through These Doors" may have sparked an 'NHL 24/7' trend amongst college hockey. Michigan and Notre Dame created 24/7-esque videos this season and now Merrimack plans to launch its own series called "Merrimack All Access." Watch the trailer, here. I think these shows are a great recruiting tool for college hockey and are a nice way to highlight each program's unique history and tradition.

  8. Ah, crap! Sounds like the Big 10 conference is also currently in talks with Xcel Energy Center to host its tournament. http://www.greenbayp...xt%7CGPG-Sports
  9. NoDak is in the running for defenseman Ian McCoshen http://www.buckys5th...hens-final-four
  10. The WCHA tourney will not be held at Xcel Energy Center after 2013. Hopefully the NCHC can secure a contract to hold its tournament there. Xcel is a fantastic venue and I love all the restaurants and bars within walking distance. http://northsports.a...for-the-future/
  11. I'm of the 'younger' generation and couldn't tell you the last time I picked up a printed copy of the Grand Forks Herald. Instead, I check GFHerald.com multiple times a day and around 11:30 every night I can go online and read all the stories that will be printed in the next day's paper. And with a click of a button I can easily share an article or story on Facebook or Twitter. Another thing to keep in mind in regard to online streaming, is the development of HD televisions with built in wi-fi. There are already some on the market. Soon, instead of using multiple cords to connect your computer to your HD television, it sounds like you'll be able to just use your remote to connect to the internet and pull up a live stream on your 60" HD TV. The quality of internet streaming is continuing to improve and before long it may not look much different than your average HD TV broadcast.
  12. This week's episode of Through These Doors features cameos by Duncan and Hextall
  13. I think he tries to take a little jab at UND with the Canadian recruitment remark, but as someone pointed out, the joke is on him because the latest players to bail on UND for the CHL, are Americans. Also, I think it's hilarious that Gopher fans think Hakstol is simply "complaining" and say its nothing more than self-serving interest. They laugh off the idea of NCAA coaches banding together to stand up against the CHL. This is not an issue exclusive to Coach Hakstol and UND. BU, BC, Miami (OH), and Michgan have all been burned by CHL teams within the last year, and the CHL appears to be getting more aggressive in its tactics. I guess it's easy to be complacent when your team hasn't yet been affected.
  14. Nope. UND SID said CBS College Sports will have exclusive national rights, while UND retains exclusive regional, local rights. Sounds like UND had to bite the bullet and lose its 21-game TV deal for the good of the conference. UND SID said they still have a year and a half to work on TV situation, etc.
  15. Coach Hakstol is already on record saying that he has reserved spots on future schedules to play Minnesota every year in a home-and-home series (two games a year). Sounds like the ball is in Lucia's court.
  16. Al Pearson is a UND alum and die-hard Sioux hockey fan who organizes fan bus trips to various conference road games, Frozen Fours, regionals, Final Fives, etc. I took his fan bus to the Frozen Fours in St. Louis and Denver and had a blast. It's a fun group.
  17. A friend and I are taking Al's Fan Bus and will attend both nights. I can't wait to see the new arena and I'm crossing my fingers the Sioux leave with at least two points. Should be a tough series.
  18. CBS Sports Network signs multi-year deal with National Collegiate Hockey Conference
  19. Interesting info on Chyzyk's committment to UND - via Fargo Force beat writter Ryan Clark http://slightlychill...ces.com/?p=1562
  20. UND landed another recruit today - Adam Tambellini http://undhockey.are...es.com/?p=89993
  21. The official UND Athletics website streams all home hockey games, but you must sign up for a UND Insider account to watch the stream. More information, here.
