Fire Muss!!! My 2 cents to this thread since I'm not in camp to fire Hak.
-
Agree. Think the WCHA has figured out that with this UND team they can plug things up offensively for us and wait for their chances knowing we'll cough up some bad turnovers in our own end that will lead to quality scoring chances.
-
Hak doesn't post here I believe.
-
Specifically those three...Schmaltz looks totally disinterested on the ice. Mattson looks lost. Forbort had his best game in a month last night and that's not saying much. Berry has to be held accountable for this defensive mess. That's why he was brought in.
-
3-3-2 in the 2nd half of this season...wouldn't call it a surge and 1-2-1 in last 4 league home games. We dropped to 10th in the Pairwise. WI is coming in playing their best hockey to date. We need wins. We need WCHA points and more than 2...that's the bottom line.
-
A 15-20 second lapse cost this team a win when no UND player made much of an effort moreless extra effort to secure the puck on the delayed penalty goal. SCSU is decent, but I didn't leave the Ralph saying "Wow this team is going to win the McNaughton Cup or the Final Five". We gave them Friday's game and we didn't finish around the net...again...last night. Their PP is the best I've seen this year but 5x5 they really don't gernerate much offensively. They are soild on D but not great and when was the last time UND didn't make a Clown goalie look like an All-American?? What they do do is bust their a** for 60 minutes each night and that will cover up alot of their shortcomings. Our team needs to be realistic from here on out and work to secure home ice and get to the F5...play well there and get into the NCAA anyway it can. Right now this team is inconsistent with play and effort, plays very poorly on it's own D zone, gives up too many soft goals especially early in games and struggles to find scorers not named Danny, Corbin or Rocco. 4 points in the last 6 league games with 4 of those games at home a 2nd half surge it doesn't make. So for all you dewey meadows, colorful rainbows, fluffy kittens, and green wnearing glasses fans...we looked better last night, deserved a better fate, a tie is better than a loss and the season is still early as it's not even February yet so we still got the 2nd haf surge coming. 2 big games next weekend vs WI...a point isn't going to cut it.

Yup, yup and yup! IMO Bryn Colton and Drake would be solid together. Chyzyk has that "it" quality on the ice.
-
Much better effort minus the laziness by Kristo on the delayed penalty goal that tied it up. Doubt this team is capable of a "full 60 minutes".
-
Daly gave him a quick spear to the groin.
-
SCSU doesn't generate much offensively if not on PP. Gotta say outa the box in 3rd.
-
This!!!!!
-
Wow...didn't see Mitch or Rodwell sitting. Watch out fit Gaarder's line...Bryn and Drake I like at wings therem. Finally Rocco w Kristo and pick-a-goalie.
-
Way I look at it UND couldn't play worse and SCSU any better. That soft 1st goal by Zane was devastating IMO.
-
"You play to win the game!" But his point is winning those games probably hasn't been advantagous heading into the NCAA due to all the games played in a short amout of time.
-
Chyzyk's last game was the Friday night game vs. the Irish if I remember correctly. Hasn't seen the ice since. He is more offensively skilled than St. Clair so who knows what's up?
-
I would be shocked if we didn't see a team that resembled the team from last Saturday at UM. If UND can keep SCSU off the PP, I agree it's a 2 goal win for UND.
-
What do you call Mark Mac and Parks? Your only other options are Rocco and Drake.
-
This team defensively is what it is and it will continue as is IMO. This team's only chance to make strides is to put the best offensive talent together on 3 lines and try to get more goals than we give up. The SOG margin last night was ridiculous and in most games this year we have been out shot. Now you who say SOG don't matter go back and watch the 1st goal of the game last night!
-
Like these line combos. Again, I heard something off ice happened with Chyzyk. Didn't buy into it when I heard it but something is up with that kid. I have thought that when Rocco, Colton and Drake have played together during the year they have looked good. Rowney is the wild card from here on out IMO...he has been very average at best to date.
-
Zero chance Mitch isn't in the lineup. Like any HC Hak's ego is way too big to sit a guy who he's been playing on the first line.
-
This^^^^.
-
And this worked because they knew Mitch wasn't capable of picking up the slack. That's why it is neccessary to either have Rocco or Mark Mac play on that line tonight. But this game plan all gets back to starting with the soft goal...that has to stop. If a team scores at least make them earn it and we struggle with that as well.

Have family coming to town. Need 3 tickets but I know that's a difficult number. Would take 2 or 4 if 3 isn't an option. My seats are in 110 and am looking for seats somewhere near that section. Thanks in advance. PM or text 701-261-3501

Save your duckies and bunnies BS for another day. I was there too. A "bad game"?? Seriously? 3 words to describe what I saw...embarrassing, soft and heartless. Combining those 3 things don't add up to a "bad game"...that's what happen Friday vs CC. This my unicorn and rainbow loving Sioux fan friend was utterly unacceptble...period! Now I will take 10 more minutes to rant...the Berry experiement has been nothing short of a complete failure at this point. Kick Eades to the curb for this type of defense?? Lots of blame for what I watched last night but I'll pin most of it on the coaching staff. When they took their foot of the gas last Saturday with this team and settled for a tie after a 2 goal lead with 9 and change to go, they needed to take responsibility for that game and this one. I see the 2 intertwined. Hak blew it last Saturday and needed to make sure he had that locker room ready to go last night. Look at the result. The players need to look in the mirror...especially the leaders of this team. I wanted to hear from a captain after the game last night not Rocco. For all of Mario's shortcomings as a player, no way a team captained by him performs like it did last night. Soft early goals are killing this team!!! Last night's softy to start it took the crowd out the game and whatever energy the team had was zapped by that as well. I know UND is seldom going to get the "hot goalie" play we run into all the time...per Schloss, but Zane (and Clark) can't continually spot a 1-0 lead early in each game. Defensively this team is a complete mess. No words to describe it. Other than Simpson, they have all play well below their skill level. Mac, Forbort, and Mattson have regressed big time. Offensively...zero identity. Hak was shuffling lines last night like a blackjack deal in Vegas! Rowney has been a big disappointment. The RPM line isn't going to click at his level of play so far this season. To be searching for line combos going into the last weekend of January is not helping, but EIGHT, 8, SOG with 9 minutes LEFT in the 3rd period is disgraeful with the talent and skill on this team. I see Hak trying to fit square pegs into round holes for the sake of having balanced lines. Going back up tonight and fully expect a different team to show up with a different result. The problem is I don't see this team being consistent enough from here on out in all the phases of a hockey game to really get that 2nd half surge going. This team has played, IMO, basically 8 periods of decent to good hockey in the last 7 games coming out of the Christmas break and stand 3-3-1 in that stretch. Tonight is a MUST win.
