  1. So wait...he went from UND, to CC...and now back to UND? Dang, that's sweet.
  2. Dang that’s a good deal for sure. I’ll have to keep looking…I keep seeing them for much more $$$ and most just SRO.
  3. I'd imagine we'll see a sampling of some of the early line combos during tomorrow night's scrimmage during fan fest.
  4. Time to get the new season rolling of following how the current committed recruits are doing! Updated as of 9/27 Added Sanderson & Bumgarner Zellers still recovering from offseason surgery, but shouldn't be out too much longer Laurila starting off hot...currently leads Fargo in points as a dman USHL (Forwards) Klee (Muskegon) - '05: 2gp - 0g/0a Pilgrim (Tri-City) - '06: 1gp - 0g/0a Schultz (Sioux Falls) - '06: 1gp - 0g/0a Zellers (Green Bay) - '06: 0gp - 0g/0a O'Neill (NTDP U18) - '07: 4gp - 1g/3a Sanderson (Muskegon) - '07: 2gp - 0g/0a Bumgarner (Fargo) - '08: 3gp - 0g/0a USHL (Defensemen) Laurila (Fargo) - '06: 3gp - 0g/5a Lindberg (NTDP U18) - '07: 4gp - 0g/0a USHL (Goalies) Heil (Madison) - '06: 2gp - .881 / 2.40 (1-0-1) Other Simpson - MN HS - '07: 0gp - 0g/0a McInnis - BCHL - '06: 3gp - 0g/0a
  5. I would agree. I bet we see quite a few different lines at first until a few lines start to click over the first few games. Some of the guys on the line chart as 3rd or 4th lines might normally be 1st/2nd line but with this team, they can hopefully be contributing on those "lower" lines.
  6. That would be a really fun idea and cool to open up to the public. I bet the old players would enjoy that too.
  7. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-hockey-media-day-brad-berry-says-its-time-to-finish-the-job Berry says it's time to finish the job.
  8. Damn! Almost time! The best part of the year is nearly upon us.
  9. I could see him as 2C with Berg as 1C. The good problem is that our center depth is probably one of the best in the country...so we could slot someone like Wilkie anywhere in the lineup at center as either a scoring threat or to create matchup problems with other teams 3rd/4th lines.
  10. Schloss had his podcast today that breaks down his outlook for the UND team. A long listen at an hour+, but a good analysis. Some bullet points: very very deep forward group top 9 should all be scoring threats expecting breakout years from Perron & James & Strinden team practiced 3x3 in practice last Friday and James scored 3 times in a row young but highly skilled d-corps best 1-2 goaltending duo in quite a few years unknown PP with two biggest weapons gone in Blake & Gaber brutal start to the schedule, will know a lot about this team after the 1st month Berry & Jammer want to switch focus from Penrose to peaking in late March/early April a lot of media coverage and articles will be upcoming in the next week (UND media day tomorrow)
  11. CHN listed its top 10 recruiting classes for this year: https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2024/09/19_Top-Recruiting-Classes-For.php They voted based on which recruiting classes they figured to have the most impact on their teams this year, so it's not surprising that UMD with its massive 11-freshmen class mixed with good skill players takes the top spot. UND comes in at #4. 1. UMD 2. BC 3. BU 4. UND 5. WMU 6. Prov 7. UW 8. UMN 9. Mich 10. DU Honorable mention: CC, Merrimack, PSU, Northeastern
  12. The whole early season schedule will be very tough, and hopefully the guys can take care of business...as that would set up the PWR nicely...or hurt it if they don't do too well. #13 Providence HOF Game #3 BU 2x Home #9 Cornell 2x Road #18 UMD 2x Road #1 DU 2x Home That's all in the first two months. Dang, that's a brutal start.
  13. That’s a weird turn of events. I wonder if he didn’t get an offer he wanted from the pros but by then he had already burned the UMN bridge?
  14. Includes a couple notes on UND recruits:
  15. Yeah, it seems most of the UMN fans thought they'd get both Lutner and Berchild from their backyards, and both ended up picking DU.
  16. Good call. Absolutely massive get for them. He's gonna be a good college player. Another very talented MN kid electing to go somewhere other than UMN for school. Pretty crazy how quiet their recruiting cycle has been thus far.
  17. Schloss had his NCHC Preview on his podcast. Lengthy overview of the league. Brief synopsis: ASU - great forward group, not sure who will take the reigns for goalie, experienced group, not much offense from the blueline CC - excellent goalie, great top 6 forwards, unproven d-corps after their top 4 left or graduated from last year DU - lot of losses up front, can Davis repeat his performance, not many question marks, Buium Hobey candidate + Pohlkamp addition huge Miami - had a lot of injuries last year, good depth at center, they'll be better but maybe not enough to move up UMD - not a ton of depth, great recruiting class, will be young but talented, season result will depend on how quickly the frosh develop UND - will go more in depth during next week's podcast, but did touch on the team's excellent center depth UNO - ton of turnover, unknown center depth/leadership/scoring, good portal pickups SCSU - good returning group, big losses at D, improvement at F, goalie question mark, Schloss' surprise pick at 3rd behind DU/UND WMU - ton of turnover - especially at F, offense question mark, reliant on freshmen, similar to UMD...will need frosh to develop quickly, goalie battle
  18. The crazy thing was how crappy Davis was for a good chunk of the early season. He was definitely the weak link on that team for most of the season. But, he certainly pulled it out when it mattered most for his team.
  19. Yeah I doubt that he’ll light up NCAA. He’s just looking to keep playing puck at a higher level.
  20. Here are the "events" in the annual UND Ironman competition:
  21. Lucius will miss some time at the beginning of the season from the sounds of it: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/nchc-media-day-notes-tommies-confident-in-their-position-moving-forward
  22. Strinden won the Ironman competition for the 2nd year in a row: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/ben-strinden-wins-second-straight-und-hockey-iron-man-competition
  23. And here we go: https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/41243185/whl-braxton-whitehead-commits-arizona-state-challenging-ncaa-rules
  24. I was looking forward to going to the series with it being a short drive away for me...but not at those prices. Guess I'll be watching on NCHC.tv for this one, unfortunately. I'm pretty sure I spent less than that last year on my trip back to ND for a series...and that included airfare for both my son and I.
