  1. Meet Ryan Hale, the next Sioux hockey coach.
  2. Tied for 10th with no bonuses. Tied for 8th with a 3-2-1 bonus.
  3. So far they are right at #15, hanging on by a thread.
  4. 5-1. CC scored late in the 3rd. DU beats UMD 5-4 with a goal in the last 2min. Good for us. Now we just need to win to get a head of UMD in the standings.
  5. Is Pelawa the player that died in a car accident prior to the 87 season starting? Sounds familiar.
  6. What about the rest of the team? They're just contemplating it? That doesn't sound like much unity to me.... I'm not really sure haircuts is what they need to get back on track. And what are the odds that lifemates Potulny and Irmen started the whole ordeal?
  7. Someone on USCHO posted the boxscore, so here it is: FIRST PERIOD: 1, Lee (C. Johnson, Becker) :24. 2, Fisher (Barta) 4:08 (pp). 3, Christian (T. Johnson) 6:23. 4, Fisher (VandeVelde, Clukey) 7:16. 5, Krause (Ammerman, Barta) 10:45. 6, C. Johnson (Ammerman, Barta) 12:59 (sh). 7, Becker (C. Johnson, Ammerman) 16:30. SECOND PERIOD: 8, Loos (C. Johnson, Becker) 5:36. 9, Fisher (VandeVelde, Clukey) 8:34. 10, Lee (Nitzkorski) 9:03. 11, Deitz (Clukey) 15:13. THIRD PERIOD: 12, Deitz (Clukey, VandeVelde) 4:47. 13, Christian (Krause, Miller) 9:03. 14, Foss (Deitz) 14:06. 15, Lee (Christian, Miller). SAVES: Monticello, Scheinbien 17-13-8--38. Moorhead, Deutz 4-7-2--13. The shots were 52-13. Lee with a 3-0-3 (including the GWG 24 seconds into the game) VandeVelde with a 0-3-3
  8. I guess all that Brian needed to break out of his scoring funk was a nice cupcake...

    UAA

If UAA sweeps UND and we have a three-way tie for 5th place in the WCHA, that would be crazy. UND's only advantage would be that they have 2 games in hand to both UMD and UAA. That said, I like the chances of UND this weekend. They have a near full lineup for the first time in ages. Having Murray and McMahon back will help this team tremendously.
  10. Thanks for answering my questions guys!
  11. Just a few quick questions for those that are "in the know" with MN HS hockey, but what is with the huge difference in point levels for these two schools? I was led to believe that they are two of the best schools in their sections. Moorhead's leading scorer has 53 pts, while Warroad's leading scorer has almost 30 more points. And I thought that Lee was an offensive dman? Hardwick and Olimb from Warroad have 20 or more points than him. Did he miss that many games due to the WJC's? Heck, Hardwick has the same amount of points that VandeVelde has.... Thanks in advance for your help!
  12. If the Sioux get half as many chances as the Gophs had tonight, I hope that they can put more than 2 behind the UAA goalie. That's not a given with our offense though. But that 2nd UM goal shouldn't have counted anyway, that was a definite skate redirection, good thing it didn't affect the outcome of the game.
  13. Regarding the UAA series next weekend, the Sioux may be meeting up with them at the right time injury-wise. Looks like UAA is without their goalie Lawson because of a groin injury, and they are also missing their top two dmen for this weekend's series against the Goofs. No word yet on whether any of the three will be back next weekend for the Sioux series, but it doesn't look good for the Seawolves. You may remember that Lawson stoned the Sioux when the Wolves came to REA. For the Sioux, if they can get Murray back from injury, as well as McMahon back from his suspension, they should be able to field a full lineup for the first time in a long while (aside from Kaip, of course).
  14. The updated SSM stats after their weekend in GF for the Midget Tourney. They won all 3 of their games; 5-3 over the Kings, 8-2 over Chicago, and 8-1 over Team Illinois. 04 Taylor Chorney Defense 12 4-27-87 5'11" 180 Hastings, MN 48 4 28 32 50 08 Kyle Okposo Forward 11 4-16-88 6' 195 St. Paul, MN 47 36 32 68 50 09 Jonathan Toews Forward 12 4-29-88 6'1" 180 Winnipeg, MB 46 36 43 79 28 10 Michael Gergen Forward 12 2-17-87 5'11" 185 Hastings, MN 50 45 36 81 82 21 Charles Genoway Forward 12 12-20-86 5'9" 170 Morden, MB 47 17 29 46 36 Gergen still leads Toews by 2 points with 4 games more played. Okposo's pace has slowed down compared to Toews/Gergen, as he is now 11 pts behind Jonathan. Chorney was playing again after not playing during last weekend's games.
  15. Press 10 if you think they are one in the same.
  16. I would hope for him to be back by the UAA trip. Hakstol said it was a 4-6 week injury. After the CC series, the Sioux have had a week off, BSU, DU, another week off, then the UAA series. So hopefully he will be back by then....
  17. True, sometimes it is just better to take the shot yourself. Sometimes you can catch the goalie leaning for the pass.
  18. Updated SSM stats after a 9-3 and 8-1 sweeping of Edge School in Calgary: 04 Taylor Chorney Defense 12 4-27-87 5'11" 180 Hastings, MN 45 4 25 29 50 08 Kyle Okposo Forward 11 4-16-88 6' 195 St. Paul, MN 44 33 29 62 50 09 Jonathan Toews Forward 12 4-29-88 6'1" 180 Winnipeg, MB 43 33 41 74 26 10 Michael Gergen Forward 12 2-17-87 5'11" 185 Hastings, MN 47 41 35 76 80 21 Charles Genoway Forward 12 12-20-86 5'9" 170 Morden, MB 44 16 27 43 34 Gergen (UMD) with a HUGE weekend, getting 8 points with 6 goals. Okposo (Minn) gets one point on the weekend. Genoway (possible UND recruit ??) gets 3 points. Toews gets 7 points on the weekend, but just one goal. He must have been pretty busy setting up Gergen, as they are on the same line! Chorney didn't play either game, not sure if he is injured or if he just had the weekend off. Gergen leads the team in points with 76, but Toews is right there with him with 74 points.
  19. The low elevation always seems to affect their lungs... I sure hope you are right about them coming out firing on all cylinders. It would be nice to see the team that dominated CC (with more goals, of course ).
  20. Defeating weak opponents in the conference tourney doesn't count toward a team's RPI, so there would be no affect on their PWR. From the USCHO PWR page:
  21. Thanks for the heads up PCM. Speedy healing to Brady from today until Thurs then, I guess. I hope he heals up so that he can play, otherwise the lines will look pretty bare without Murray, McMahon, and Kaip playing.
  22. Is anyone going to watch SSM this weekend at the Ralph for the Grand Forks Midget Tourney? According to their schedule on the SSM website, they will be playing three games total, one each day Fri-Sun. Would be nice to see Toews, Chorney, etc play before they join the collegiate ranks.
