  1. The best thing for me was watching the reaction of the Russian players on the bench. They were all probably expecting to see Oshie get laid out, but that didn't happen!
  2. I agree that he is young and has lots of time to improve, but I was just expecting more from the 2nd overall pick from last year's draft. Usually with these young, talented players you can see flashes of brilliance mixed in with their youthfullness, but with Ryan I didn't see that. Granted, I have only seen him in two games, so I can hardly judge him based on that, but that is just what I saw from those two games. We'll see how he improves for next WJC.
  3. That looks to be a good start for next year's team. Am I the only one that was not impressed with Bobby Ryan? At times it looked like he had learned to skate just last year. Very slow moving around, errant passes, not covering his man in the defensive zone, etc. He was out on one of the USA PPs last night, and it looked like he almost single-handedly killed it off for the Russians by losing the puck over and over.
  4. Let's hope that the Sioux managed to get a commitment from him. He sounds like a quality goalie that could come in 07 for when Parise graduates.
  5. NICE! GO USA! Beat the Russians!
  6. I had a class with Matt Jones last year, and I sat right next to him. It was a computer-related class, so we all had PCs to play around on while the instructor was 'teaching'. Anyway, I noticed that Matt was a frequent visitor to both SS.com and USCHO. I never saw him post, but he certainly viewed the threads. I'm sure he's not the only one on the Sioux that surfs those websites.
  7. I live in Wisco. I will get to see the game live on FSN. Yah!
  8. I agree that it might persuade him to stay around one more year for the chance to play with his brother. But if he gets offered some decent money.....who knows. We'll see I guess.
  9. I think that talent, size, and speed can overcome a trapping style team as well. Just look at 03-04 and those same Sioux and Denver teams. Before that NCAA Regional, the two teams played to a 1-1 tie, and 8-2 and 6-2 Sioux blowout wins. So, it can be done, hopefully the Sioux can do it tonight against Harvard.
  10. I agree that they have to take care of business against UAA. UAA doesn't have a very good team this year, and they need the wins and the WCHA points. I would be very disappointed if they don't win two games in Anchorage. Now, with that said, kick some Crimson butt tonight!!
  11. Agreed on both of these statements. Posters already saying that the Sioux will miss their own regional -- that's a joke. It's Dec!! A lot can happen in the next 3 months. The team can come together. They could lose all of their remaining games. Teams in front of them in the PWR could win/lose. While I agree that these losses with the team playing uninspired are certainly not helping their cause to make the tourney, it is still way too early to be saying that there is no way that they won't. I think that putting Stafford/Zajac/Spirko together on the top line is a good idea for tonight's game. Harvard certainly does not have a line with enough skill/talent to hang with those three.
  12. Finley playing, but with a cast. Lammy gets the start in net.
  13. Sweet! Two great pickups for the Sioux! Trupp sounds like a fast little guy. I also like Hakstol's recruiting of the smaller, faster players that may be more inclined to stay four years. Great news.
  14. Agreed. The USA isn't going to be getting that much offensive room against the Canadians. Great game for Bourque and Kessel. Good to see Oshie open up the floodgates with the first goal.
  15. Agreed. I could care less what is written in an article on INCH. It's their opinion, they are just writing it to get a rise out of a fanbase. Writing nasty letters to them only helps to prove their point. I'd just let it go.
  16. Great game, great sweep this weekend for the Sioux. These wins will be big at the end of the season.... I agree that Oshie was one heck of a catch! And he's only a freshman! If he continues this pace, he will be in the running for WCHA ROTY with Kessel, Toews, and Raymond.
  17. Toews is still practicing with the Canadian WJ team. If they did get in a fight, would they still have to sit out a game once they returned? I'm unclear on the exact rule... Either way, hopefully the Sioux can play better, smarter hockey tomorrow and come out with another win (and snap their home losing streak in the process).
  18. No, he left on Sun for the Canada WJC camp. If he doesn't make the team, he will be back for Harvard, otherwise he is gone until the UAA series.
  19. Esposito isn't eligible to play collegiate hockey, as he is playing major juniors in Canada now.
  20. That was one hella long quoted message!
  21. But this post, on the other hand, is ridiculous. Any fan that doesn't see the talent and potential in Kessel just has their blinders on.
  22. Watch a replay of the Oshie goal from Fri night. Who's the Gopher forward that is left standing there while Oshie dangles in front of him right in front of the net?
