  1. Nice PP guys. Good momentum builder for Cornell.
  2. Our PP really blows recently. Need to pick it up.
  3. 9-2 UND in sog?
  4. Go Dell, make the most of your opportunity.
  5. Hopefully the Sioux used up all of their bad puck luck during the Sat game against UMN. No more double post shots, no more bouncing over sticks, no more crazy deflections. Just work hard, and the puck luck will follow.
  6. That's brutal.
  7. This is like a never-ending debate. If we have too many players that stay only 2 years, then we hear that we need more 4yr role players that develop experience. If we have too many role players, then we need to recruit more blue chippers. I think Hakstol has done a good job of recruiting a mix of both. In regards to Eidsness, yes he's had a rough stretch here of giving up an untimely/soft goal recently, but to say that he has peaked when he has only 1.5 years under his belt is a reach IMO. Less than a year ago he was backstopping this team to a MacNaughton Cup. I haven't given up hope on him or Dell yet. I wouldn't mind seeing Dell get a game this weekend just to see what he can do in a hostile opposing building.
  8. Gregoire
  9. Blowing 2 goal leads? Eidsness not playing well? Sioux don't generate enough offense? http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/?blog=68950
  10. Agreed on all these points. While it might be harder for people to get off work for both Thurs and Fri now (time for me to burn another vacation day for the F5 next year!), this format would work the best IMO. Have 2 games on Thurs/Fri, and then just one (the champ) on Saturday. No need for a 3rd place game. Gives people a chance to chill out and check out other things during the day on Saturday. Plus, having a 3rd place game would make two more teams have the potential to play three games in three days. That's brutal, especially if they ended up going three games during the 1st round WCHA playoff.
  11. Maine has been bad the last two years, but this year appear to be a bit better. They are currently sitting in 4th in HEA.
  12. No doubt, from a spectating viewpoint it's not as fun to only see DU, CC, UMN, and UW only once during the season, but that will certainly help make the schedule a bit easier. UMD got tossed a freaking cupcake with that cluster. Well, three cupcakes to be exact.
  13. A good OOC lineup with Maine, Notre Dame, Robert Morris, UAA (Nye), UAF, and Duluth (HOF game). The UAA and UMD games would both count as OOC since they are non-WCHA games. That's a tough early season schedule with Maine, Denver, Duluth, and Wisconsin all in a row. Ouch.
  14. Thanks for ruining my dream. Thanks a lot.
  15. I need to get into head coaching at a major college. Hmm, new career path for brianvf?
  16. Next year's class is very small, more than likely only four players at most due to us only having three seniors right now (possibly two if Genoway gets a medical redshirt). That said, next year's class is EXCELLENT on the defensive side. Forbort is one of the top-rated players for the next draft, and Nick Mattson was up there as well (they were ranked 11th and 95th in the latest CSB rankings). Danny Mattson and Rodwell are both players that will turn into great 3-4 year players at UND. So while the class is small, they will be good.
  17. Wow, good find Speez. It's like the same posts just regurgitated 9 years later and substitute Blais for Hakstol.
  18. Last year in GF the Sioux dominated Cornell on Friday night and then lost a close one on Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same type of scenario happen this upcoming weekend. In fact, with the way things went in Minneapolis, I'd be happy with a split. That said, the Sioux need two wins if they want to keep their OOC record stellar and put them in a good position PWR-wise. Gut check time, Sioux. Go out there and prove last weekend was a fluke.
  19. Well stated dagies.
  20. Blasphemy!!!
  21. 1. Get to the Frozen Four. 2. Avoid BC.
  22. I like Blais as much as the next guy, and respect the heck out him and the two titles that he brought to UND, but sometimes I think that posters here for some reason are so hung up on him that they think bringing him back is the only way that UND will get another title. And that just isn't true. UND won titles before Blais was the coach, and they will win titles after. Will Hakstol be the coach that brings in the next title? I don't know for sure, but I would bet he will. For everyone that claims that Blais teams were always ready to play...and his offensive schemes and mentality always had the team finishing...it's almost like those posters are just remembering the two titles and forgetting the other years. As a flashback... 94/95 - Blais' 1st year, didn't have a ton to work with. Finished .500 and didn't make the NCAA's 95/96 - One game over .500, didn't make the NCAA's 96/97 - Won the title, Sioux nation rejoices 97/98 - Arguably one of Blais' best teams, loses their 1st NCAA game to MI in Ann Arbor (Sioux couldn't hold the lead in the 3rd...sound familiar?) 98/99 - Another dominant regular season, again they fall in their 1st game in the NCAA's to BC in Madison 99/00 - Another title, more rejoicing 00/01 - Lose in NT game to BC 01/02 - One of the worst Sioux teams in recent memory, below .500 and fail to make NCAA's 02/03 - Back in the NCAA's, but lose in the 1st round to Ferris St 03/04 - Probably the most talented Blais team, loses to DU in regional final (Sioux ran into a hot goalie/couldn't finish...sound familiar?) In 10 Blais-led years, the Sioux failed to make the NCAA tourney three times, lost in their first NCAA game an additional three times, and had the worst Sioux season since Gino's last year of coaching. As I said earlier, I respect the heck out of the guy and will always remember the two titles that UND won while he was at the helm, but we can't just forget the other years.
  23. Probably only temporarily though. When the Gophers fail to make the NCAA tourney for the 2nd straight season (both times with a regional in their own backyard), the heat will be put back on Lucia.
