  1. No doubt. Little bit different circumstances. That gaffe essentially cost BU the title. Feel for the kid, but still happy that Providence won.
  2. Anyone think that Eichel won't sign? If/when he leaves BU, are they going to slip back into mediocrity like last year, as they will lose Rodrigues too? Those two combined for 132 pts. By comparison, UND's 7 graduating seniors had 137 pts combined.
  3. Congrats to the Providence Friars on their championship. I was glad to see them win it over BU and Eichel.
  4. O'Connor has been letting weak goals in all tournament. I don't recall any in the Yale game, but he had 1 or 2 terrible ones vs UMD, 1 bad one against UND, and now that championship-losing fumble. Ouch.
  5. No doubt. I think our strong defense will be the thing that keeps us rolling through the early season (especially if there is a new goalie back there). Hopefully by mid-season some of the talented freshmen forwards will have their legs.
  6. Tentative 15/16 Roster Graduating (7): Parks, MacMillan, O'Donnell, Mattson, Gaarder, Pattyn, Panzarella Forwards (10): Caggiula (SR), Chyzyk (SR), St. Clair (SR), Sanderson (SR), Johnson (JR), Murphy (JR), NSchmaltz (SO), Poganski (SO), Simonson (SO), Olson (SO) Defense (6): JSchmaltz (SR), LaDue (JR), Stecher (JR), Thompson (JR), Ausmus (JR), Poolman (SO) Goalies (3): McIntyre (SR), Hrynkiw (JR), Johnson (SO) Potential Early Departures (5): JSchmaltz, McIntyre, LaDue, Stecher, NSchmaltz Potential Incoming Freshmen (11): Janatuinen (F), Gersich (F), Wilkie (F), Gardner (F), Boeser (F), Matthews (F) , Chartrand (D), Wolanin (D), Shaw (D), Evers (D), Tomek (G) This looks to me like a pretty skilled potential roster here depending on early departures. I think Jordan and Zane are the most likely to leave, but if either stayed it wouldn't surprise me. I think that Defense for next season will once again be a very strong unit and one of the strengths of the team (regardless of if Schmaltz goes pro or not). That is a very talented group right there. Maybe only 2 or 3 of those potential incoming frosh come in on the D side. Obviously potentially losing Zane would hurt, but I think goalie will still be a strong position with Tomek and Johnson should Zane decide to leave. For forwards, I think our scoring will be better next year and that our overall talent level will increase. Caggiula can take a step and lead this offense, with Chyzyk and Johnson both making progression forward. If Nick stays, I could see him racking up quite a few assists with higher goal scoring ability around him. I look for the soph trio of Pogs, Simonson, and Olson to use another year of strength building and have a much better year production-wise. Our incoming forwards are very skilled...if even 1 or 2 of their USHL goal-scoring translates to the college game, we're in for a fun year. Go Sioux!!
  7. Duluth has such highly skilled forwards. Duluth has a decent goalie too, I could see them being up there. Omaha relied on Massa a ton...UNO was routinely outshot by large margins all season and Massa kept them in it. They were young this year, but without a reliable goalie I can't see them cracking the top 2 in the league even with another year of experience for their forwards. Denver lost a large 7 senior class, including their best player for the last few seasons in LaLeggia. Heinen and Moore are both highly skilled and young, but after that their talent level drops off especially on the forward side. Miami is always fast and talented, but they lose a ton of points with Czarnik, Coleman, and Murphy all graduating (& maybe Barber going pro?). If Miami was going to win a title, this was the year they needed to do it IMO. SCSU was a low scoring team all season, and now they lost Brodzinski early. That doesn't bode well for them.
  8. You'd swap UND's last decade with Notre Dame, Miami, and Ferris?
  9. I would say the last three F4 losses were games that UND was the "sharper" team. A loss is a loss either way though.
  10. Who is this Kristo character, and why does he think he knows more about Hakstol & the team than the posters on this forum?
  11. The Blame Game. For today's game, I would put it at: 70% gfhockey 30% Zane
  12. You could say that Zane gave BU a couple goals as well.
  13. The blame for this game goes entirely on your shoulders, my friend.
  14. For those looking for finishers, hopefully Boeser, Wilkie, and Gersich will help out with that next season. And hopefully NSchmaltz will stick around to help feed them the puck.
  15. Also a 0% chance that you post should UND win the F4.
  16. I think there's a 0% chance that we see you post a single post during the regular season, a 0% chance we see you post during any of the regional games, and a 100% chance we see you post if the Sioux are losing the semi-final game at the F4.
  17. Providence played a similar style of game to UND. Of course, UNO didn't press them too hard. Go Sioux! Shut down Eichel line and put pucks on O'Connor...he misplayed a couple during the regionals.
  18. Yep, the players were even talking about it in the papers...about how Massa wanted to beat Zane to prove he was the better goalie. UNO got absolutely worked. Embarrassing effort on their part. You could say that Blais can't get them up for a big game?
  19. 20. Also, when Matthews is added to the fall roster, it will make it even better. Caggiula–Johnson–Gersich Wilkie–NSchmaltz–Boeser Chyzyk–St. Clair–Murphy Olson–Simonson–Poganski
  21. I am excited about those 3 coming in next season. I know that we lose a lot of senior leadership and scoring this year, but all three of those players have shown an excellent ability to score goals in a tough USHL league. I like the thought of having a pass-happy NSchmaltz on a line with one or two of those incoming freshmen. Could be quite the fun.
  22. Sounding like a Providence win in the first semifinal. Massa is already looking forward to a potential matchup with UND. Getting jobbed for the goalie of the year award? Haha, that's good stuff.
