Hahaha.

I think that is who he is talking about. He misses the old days of tPenaltyBox forum.

And even this season. As completely frustrating as it has been, especially with the high hopes in the early season...and yet if the team had managed just two more wins; one against ASU and one against Miami...the team would be looking at an at-large bid. That's crazy.
-
Yep. I'm pretty certain that a "FIRE COACH X" thread has been started every single year on this forum since it's inception...except for those years where we have won a title.
-
I think it's less that "we can't expect those results here" and more "no program should expect those results consistently". You're choosing a very small sample size (2017-current). The one-and-done format of the NCAA's means that you have to have a talented team that is playing well at the right time...and you also need a little luck. Both of those programs winning two titles since our last title is more of an outlier, less of the norm. Team success is cyclical, everyone goes thru their ups and downs. Take UMD. They went the first 60+ years of their existence without a single title. Then another 6 before their next. And, if I'm being honest, I see UMD entering another title drought. DU had 5 of their titles in the 50's and 60's. Then had nothing during the 70s/80s/90s...three plus decades of no titles, with most of those teams not even making the tourney. Then they get their back to back followed by another 12 year drought.

To be honest, I'd think we'd match up the best with them on the road. We got absolutely crushed by SCSU on the road on their big sheet. WMU offense is scary on many levels. All three are very capable of ending our season in 2-3 games, don't get me wrong. I just think we stand the best chance of taking a couple from UNO in Omaha compared with the other two options.
-
This will be a tough matchup. UNO has been playing very well since the calendar flipped to 2023...only 3 losses in 12 games (with one being a shootout loss). One loss each to WMU, CC, and SCSU. Mavs are hitting their stride at the right time...hopefully we can slow their momentum a bit. And hoping that our offense regains some puck luck...too many damn posts.

It’s gonna be difficult to advance no matter our opponent, unfortunately.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
brianvf replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
With one weekend remaining... Still in 6th place, but now 3pts up on CC and only 1pt behind UMD. -
Miami with the ENG. 4-1, Miami helps out UND with a win over UMD
-
Persson playing out of his mind in Duluth, so far has saved 50/51 shots. Miami up 3-1 with less than 2min to go.
-
If this game wouldn't have gone to shootout, it would have been like that 0-0 UW/Cornell NCAA game from a few years ago...just neverending with no goals.
-
One whole extra point. Geez, not a good weekend...offense and PP completely dried up. On the plus side, DeRidder played well.
-
Kleven wins the shootout for UND.
-
Blake and Gaber both stopped. Well, not our night for sure.
-
Season was essentially over months ago.
-
First scoreless tie in UND history, according to Schloss. Wow!
-
Miami trying to help us out against UMD, but we're certainly not taking advantage.
-
Omaha surging...geez they're looking at 2nd place after tonight. Not many (no one?) would have predicted that with all their off-season losses.

Now would be a glorious time for our first PPG of the weekend.
-
Uff, huge save by DeRidder.
-
We seem very poor at faceoffs tonight.
-
Gaber left the ice in decent pain. That could be concerning.
