  1. The new Ralph has had its moments, but in general is usually more quiet than anything. This year has been worse than others. Everyone from Hennessey to Average Joe would complain that the building is quiet because the team is giving them nothing to cheer for. No! You cheer to get the team going, not the other way around. Our road fans make much more noise than the home fans. Student section has been worst in UND Hockey history as well.
  2. The 4th leading goal scorer among UND alumni in the NHL this year, Brock Nelson, potted #11 on the season. Zajac and Stafford at ten which gives UND 6 with double-digits in the season goal column.

Don't trust eBay for a jersey like that. They are mostly all fake, and some of the ones with pics of legit ones will send you fakes. The upside is, ebay is pretty lenient about getting you your money back if it is counterfeit. That Blackhawks shop sells fakes. Steer clear of that. Just pony up and pay retail for it. The best part about buying from the Sioux Shop is the profits go to the school...hence why I never buy something from overpriced Scheel's if the Sioux Shop also has it.
  6. Antti Raanta honors former Blackhawks goalie, Ed Belfour, with Eagle mask for Stadium Series. Photos and video: http://www.csnchicag...m-series-helmet Also on CSN Chicago, they name Toews the most untradeable athlete in Chicago.\ Video: http://www.csnchicago.com/blackhawks/jonathan-toews-most-untradeable-chicago-sports-player
  7. Strategy, yes, I can agree with you. Recruiting, yes to an extent, but we aren't the only ones out there trying to bring in the best kids...and we've brought in a ton of good ones and lost a few to Major Juniors/NHL who could have put this team over the top. Motivation, no. If being able to play in front of 11,000 fans every home game while wearing a North Dakota sweater in a town that has seen the likes of some of the best college hockey players to play the game, and you need your coach to motivate you, then you have issues. In 2005, Denver was the better team. Could we have won? Yeah, but should we have? Not necessarily. In 2006, with a young team, our goalie/defense didn't play very good. In 2007, the goalie didn't show up again despite the rest of the team playing good enough to win the game. in 2008, inexplicable. In 2011, we outplayed Michigan in all facets but goaltender, just didn't get the bounce you needed to have that shot at a title.
  8. Cool, an internet tough guy! (Hey look! Now you can add "tough guy" to the list of names you've been called on "thus" "bored")
  9. I wish the players would get us over the hump. Last I checked, Hak hasn't suited up since 1992.
  10. In Wisconsin there are a lot of closet hockey fans, depending on what part of the state you are in. It's not the most talked about sport, but there are plenty of knowledgeable fans. It isn't like Minnesota or Michigan where HS titles are a coveted thing, but the Badgers have great interest in some, and are totally disregarded by others. Don't be fooled by the "Wisconsin doesn't care about hockey", they just don't care about it like most around here are used to where it's the number 1 sport. Oh, and Aaron Rodgers had a cheese, sausage, and onion omelette, blueberry muffin, and two large glasses of orange juice for breakfast.
  11. One team doesn't make a trend. If the championships went something like this... Michigan - Maine - Michigan - Wisconsin - Maine - Michigan - Notre Dame - Maine - Wisconsin - Maine - Michigan ...then you'd have a point about there not being parity. The fact that BC has won as many as they have is stellar. Problem is, it's only BC doing it. It's like the Trent Dilfer excuse for fans of NFL teams who don't have a talented quarterback. They think because one team did it, anyone should. Doesn't work that way. BC won't ride this horse forever, just like Michigan didn't after the '50s, Denver after the '60s, Minnesota in the '70s, and North Dakota in the '80s, etc.
  12. Not that I don't trust you, but thought there was a good chance it was a joke. Nope! Love it, made for some interesting reading for a change.
  13. Well his terrible .929 save percentage and 1.39 GAA in two appearances clearly weren't up to par with the Heat. Sarcasm.
  14. This. No one around here doesn't appreciate what Dean did. Coaches get too much credit and too much blame around here. Coaches coach, players play, and the other team wants to win just as much as we do. You need a few good bounces to win a title, Blais got them, Hakstol hasn't yet.
  15. It wasn't aimed directly at any one person. It's just the years of hearing what Blais would have done that gets me.
  16. Can anyone tell me how Blais' team did tonight?
  17. Good one for sure...I'm partial to his single-handed comeback against Denver at the Ralph. Scored the game-tying goal with a wicked wrister, then the game-winning goal (and for the hat trick) to put the Sioux up 5-4 after trailing 4-1 earlier in the game.
  18. Don't forget, Wisconsin, who won that year, played both their regional and the Frozen Four in the state of Wisconsin.
  19. You can't compare Hak to Gino. You can't compare Gino to Blais. You can't compare Cary Eades to Herb Brooks. None of it works. It's a totally different league.
  20. If we make the playoffs, I think this could be arguably one of Hak's best seasons as a coach. If we win anything in the tourney, it'd just be a bonus. Look at the "talent" on this team. There isn't a ton of skill or size compared to previous teams. Yeah, a lot of them are drafted, but that means little unless you're talking top two rounds of the draft usually. You might decide to mention how it's Hak's fault for a lack of star power on the team. Well, this is true, but it's not Hakstol's fault that guys like JT Miller and Stefan Matteau decided not to come...both of whom have already played in the NHL. Adding just those two guys would make a WORLD of difference. Jerry York should have been fired decades ago, and numerous times in between, by some people's standards. Face the facts. This isn't old-school NCAA hockey anymore where there were maybe 3-4 legitimate title contenders in a given year. In today's game, the top schools have to recruit young players to try and gain the blue chip recruits. Sometimes they pan out, sometimes they don't. The smaller schools get the older, late-bloomers who were passed over, but who may have developed into great players themselves. It adds A TON of parity to the game now, so to have maintained a level of teams even capable of winning a title year in and year out is impressive in my book.
