The final seed went to Ohio State. BSU was the lowest ranked team in the tournament.

You have to take these types of posts with a grain of salt. I don't pay much attention to them because 1) No one knows for sure about how they'll perform here, 2) many people think they know but really are clueless This isn't a knock on anyone in particular, but I have differing opinions a lot of time myself.

I like ESPNews more than SportsCenter, by a lot. But there's always something better on anyways...and News isn't in HD (at least not through MidCo if it is). It makes sense to have ESPNU as well considering that we have BTN, FCS (3), and CBSCS. I wouldn't mind having both News and U, but if I had to pick one, it'd obviously be U.

Genoway v. (1) To get hung out to dry by someone completely out of position because he forgets what position he plays. (2) To continually force pucks in places they can't fit resulting in odd-man rushes for the opposing team. While playing defense, Joe Finley was Genowayed. -
Haha, nice!

Actually, I was going to make 'em slightly darker, but not substantially. Thanks for letting me use the pic!

Every month will be a bit different. I'll add in some with historic players, some with current players...action shots, etc. I wanted to use Eids with the trophy for October a) to congratulate our accomplishments of this season coinciding with our banner raising against merrimack and b) because Eids will need to be the cornerstone of our team next season Thanks for the suggestion though They won't all be the same green backgrounds or anything either. I'll try and keep them as unique as possible each month so they don't look so monotonous.

I've been tinkering with making wallpaper calendars for the 09-10 season. I was just curious if they are worth doing. It's something to do in spare time when I have nothing else going on. They'll feature dates and jerseys of each team the Sioux will face each month. Each month will also feature a player or team of the month. I'm looking for suggestions on what I should change/add/remove. Here's a sample for October. I used a photo Brucesky02 took, so if he doesn't want me to use it, I'll find another source. I credited him in the lower left, so if he let's me use it, everyone thank him! He did an awesome job taking some great pics. I made all the jerseys and everything else by hand. I didn't do a whole lot with it, but I like simple wallpapers, so tried to keep it clutter free. This is a reduced size image. I can scale them to whatever needs everyone has. One problem I already face is a place to upload the wallpapers where I can share them at full size. I use photobucket currently, but they have a maximum size that's allowed. Maybe Jim can help out in that department if this is a project worth while...?

That's a huge conference schedule with only a few non-conference games. That's the problem with this. You CAN make an 11 team conference work, but at the expense of non-conference games which are very important as well.

It's slightly unbalanced in an individual season, but over the course of four years it continues to cycle making it somewhat fair.

http://www.nmuhockey.net/?p=760 It sounds like most Northern Michigan fans and supporters were for NMU [re]joining the WCHA. However, the head honchos over there decided to stay put in the CCHA. What does this mean? With BSU all but in the WCHA, that leaves the WCHA with a probable 11 team conference. Many talks of either NMU or UNO joining the WCHA have been the main suggestions from our point of view. UNO stated a couple months ago that they were staying in the CCHA to maintain games against more recognizable schools to keep the fanbase interested (Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and even Miami to an extent). Now NMU is out of the mix. Who's next as a possibility? -Lake Superior State seems like the next best option. They are in the UP along with NMU and MTU and have had past success. -UAH still needs a home. Are we going to have to take them in as well as BSU, assuming we take BSU? -An 11 team conference isn't fair, but can be doable to an extent. I don't want to see this, but if it means keeping BSU, I feel it's worth it. -Does the WCHA look even farther east to lower Michigan to possible get an unlikely buyer? I doubt it would happen, but it doesn't hurt to ask (Ferris State, Western Mich, and Central Mich are in this category). Or, considering OSU is in the women's side of the WCHA, are they convinceable? It's unlikely considering their location and intrastate rivalry with Miami. -Do we unfortunately leave BSU in the dust to keep our own conference intact? -Is a Canadian team an answer to the riddle? Lots of questions are raised with this and only time will answer them. Any thoughts?

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play
Big A HG replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I think it's as 50/50 as it gets. Forney said he'd like to return to UND, but I don't think the coaches have given him the bus fare back yet...I would have to believe the coaches have been happy with how he has played in Green Bay, but do we have room for a guy who won't be here for a continuous four years considering how many recruits we have committed? Only time will tell, and like you hinted at, it may have to do with VV staying or leaving. If this is the case, Mattson might be a for sure 1 year USHLer. We will see I guess. -
Two years ago I watched every game on TV like it was my job. So, last year I gave in and paid up for Center Ice. I watched LESS hockey than I did before-hand. Not sure why, but I definitely didn't get my money's worth This year I didn't do it.

I'm not disagreeing with you because you make a good point, but for every TJ Oshie there's a Michael Forney. That's not to knock on Forney because I'm a big supporter of his and injuries are what hindered him and not talent, but he didn't give us much and maybe with some USHL conditioning, he wouldn't have had the problems he did. Let's home Forney can come back to college (whether it's with the Sioux or not) and be an impact player. -

If anyone noticed, the more aggressive Chay got this season, the worse our team played. When he starts trying to do too much, it hinders us. We have five players on the ice and with good passing and using our forwards we can get the puck into the opposing zone just fine. It's not like we couldn't score unless Chay was out there thinking he's the second coming of Wayne Gretzky or something. Imagine if Chay was a forward. He could have the puck passed to him (a nice concept) and then he can carry it into the zone. Then, when he turns it over, we still have two defensemen in position to cover his mistakes unlike the last two seasons when we only had Joe back there.
-
With our huge need for defensemen he's been needed back there. I don't know why he doesn't try Davidson back there. A defenseman with forward skills who is more apt to stay at home and play defense is what we need.
