I know it's only Minot State, but it appears that the Sioux men have been playing better as of late. Maybe they're finally starting to turn the corner and could be competitive once play in the Big Sky starts......

The main reason it isn't ok, once we're eligible, is that D2 wins don't count towards the supposed 7 win requirement for the FCS playoffs, whereas FBS teams can count one FCS win towards being bowl eligible. Montana mainly missed the playoffs this year due to only having 6 D1 wins, as their 7th was against a D2. And if it replaces Montana Western or Black Hills or Sioux Falls this year, I'm fine with that. However, it would be nice to have an all Division 1 schedule for 2012 when we're eligible.

I just posed the question on the Jacks board to see if they know. I was pretty certain that it was a home/home, but who knows if they've already bought it out, or maybe since they don't know the date they haven't put it on the official schedule yet - I don't know.... Just found the article stating it's for a return trip in 2013.... http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=58640&SPID=6399&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=204929801

I heard the price was $150k for St Francis - don't remember where I heard it though......

So, the home schedule will consist of two GWFC teams, two NAIA teams (I'm assuming BHS is still NAIA?), a DII move up from NAIA and a non-scholly FCS team? While not a pretty schedule, it should hopefully give a lot of team members some really good experience. And, it should be the last year that this happens. Hopefully at least one, if not both, of the NAIA games are able to be replaced, but it's not looking likely....

Negative - just thought I'd check through my local stuff to see if I could find it and BAM, there it was

Game is on Comcast channel 13 in the Twin Cities......
-
For those in the Twin Cities - local channel 13 on Comcast is showing the Sioux - Mavs. Pregame just finishing up. GO SIOUX!
-
Keep the updates coming Bin - I can't listen to the game, but will check back in online every so often. How are the Sioux playing? Milking the play clock?
-
Hopefully the Sioux can heat up from the field, as both games at the tourney they have shot in the 20's. Also, they only had 6 assists as a team last night, which is pretty sad. But, they held on to win the game, and didn't let EMU get back into it. Good win guys!

Now Hansel - you're not going to just come here and tell me I screwed up and leave are you??? Who are you picking for the weekend?
-
Oops - you're right. Updated. Still taking UNH, Oxbow, with them being on the road?
-
Let's keep the smack out of this one please. Here are the games on tap for this weekend. Western Illinois @ (1) Appalachian State Villanova @ Stephen F Austin SE Missouri @ (5) Eastern Washington NDSU @ (4) Montana State Lehigh @ (3) Delaware New Hampshire @ Bethune-Cookman Wofford @ Jacksonville State Georgia Southern @ (2) William & Mary My picks: Appy St SFA EWU Montana St Delaware UNH Wofford W&M Guess I'm thinking the home teams will do alright. Should be some good games on the slate....
-
Today I'll take all the MVFC teams and Georgia Southern As for the final four, I've got SFA, EWU, Delaware and Wofford. Championship game EWU and Delaware, with the Hens winning it all. Should be a fun couple weeks!

Do you have anything that states this? You know that the person that you're saying is wrong is pretty much an expert on D2 football, don't you? Although I don't know which person is actually right, I would think that Bob has more credibility on the issue. So please provide evidence of this Dan. Edit - Bob, would you have any link or anything from the rule book that would state this either? I'd really like to know the actual answer so we can put this to bed.....
-
Best of luck to you Marlin! My prayers go out to you and your family.

Just getting ready to head over to the tailgaiting area. Pretty chilly outside, but it feels lke a good day for football. Should be a great time!

My flight leaves in about 3 hours - can't express how excited I am!
-
Dan - this is one of the rare occassions where you are spot on with your analysis. I completely agree. You have now added value to a conversation on SiouxSports And don't worry, even when you don't add value I do like your ability to get people riled up over here......
-
Who is all planning on heading to Missoula? I'm flying in tomorrow afternoon, meeting up with a couple guys that are driving from NoDak.
-
I was really hoping that they'd drop that. Hopefully it will help the Sioux men be more competitive and win some games. Defense needs to step up though......
-
I really like this - Kudos! Maybe you should forward this to Fullerton

The way the other message boards are buzzing, I'm almost leaning towards USD getting some sort of invite from the MVFC. Just one of those feelings that USD will not be joining us. I really hope I'm wrong on this one....
-
You know, I'm having a feeling that the home schedule, other than Poly and USD, is not going to be very good in 2011. We know of Sioux Falls (unless it has been bought out), but other than that and the two away FBS games we know nothing. You'd think that we would have heard something through other teams schedule leaks, but nothing so far........ I am really looking forward to the 2012 Big Sky schedule. Add in a home game with Central Arkansas and at San Diego State, it should be a great schedule. Also, 2013 will see SDSU coming to the Alerus on top of the Big Sky schedule, so we are going to have some good schedules the following years, which actually could have given us incentive to get a few home games for next year as the front end of home/home agreements (since we already have one good home OOC game scheduled for 2012 and 2013). Maybe next year won't be as bad as I'm anticipating......

Sioux fumbled into the end zone and Lamar recovered, and the game has since ended. Sioux win 31-6.
