  1. I distinctly remember reading articles in the Herald and Dakota Student about cops being used to toss out students who wouldn't sit down. There was a great deal of whining about how excessive it was for the crime. I don't think it happened more than once or twice. I also remember the broken cupholder incident. I believe that happened this season, not last season. You're right that if 10 people were constantly standing elsewhere in REA, security would talk to them about it. And I'm sure everyone around those 10 people would be happy to see them gone. The difference here is that students insist on doing everything as a group. They all want to sit in the same place as a group and they all want to be represented as a group. Unfortunately, that also means that they're being punished as a group. I'm not saying that's fair, only that I understand why it's happening.
  2. You're welcome.
  3. Probably because REA received a ton of negative publicity for tossing out students, not to mention endless whining from students themselves.
  4. Not to beat a dead horse, but did anyone read Ryan Bakken's column in Sunday's Grand Forks Herald? He takes UND students to the wood shed on the REA seating issue.
  5. Were you shocked that last season the favored Gophers won a national championship in their own back yard? Or awed that the Wild went 1-2 against Colorado at the X?
  6. And don't forget about Nick Fuher. I thought he was one of the Sioux players who improved down the stretch. Hakstol said before the season started that he expected Fuher to contribute more offensively. Among Sioux defensemen, he was second to Schneider in scoring with 8 goals and 17 assists. Most of those points game against WCHA opponents. Between the returning veterans and the incoming recruits, I think UND's D-corps will be one of the team's strengths next season.
  7. Recent events compel Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf to return from administrative leave to hold yet another news conference.
  8. Golf, not hockey: "Center Peter Forsberg must wonder why he continues to take the physical beating allowed in the NHL, when he could return to Sweden and play golf in the midnight sun."
  9. The Iraqi Information Minister has decided to hold another news conference.
  10. What killed the Sioux this season was not lack of defense or lack of goaltending. It was lack of scoring, especially in the third period. I should also add that during the playoffs, the Sioux were an "incredible" 2-23 on the power play. What did Thomas Vanek become known for? Scoring big goals in the third period for the Gophers.

Ha! Everyone fears the Jackbunnys! Especially around Easter.
  12. Personally, I have never understood the need of some people to bash the Gophers and their fans when the Sioux tank. Let's face it. For whatever reason, North Dakota hasn't played well as a team for the past two months. During the same time, Minnesota has come together and appears to be peaking at the right time of year. I'll be cheering for the Gophers to beat Ferris State, a cheap-shotting, chippy team. Greyeagle, I agree completely with your comments about the Sioux defensemen. bertibm, when the Sioux forwards score only two goals, I can't agree that they played well.
  13. Wow. The battle of the squirts. I might tune in just to see that.
  14. Look on the bright side. We don't have to suffer through the pain of having our season ended by the Gophers again.
  15. The link appears to be broken. I can't get it, either.
  16. I'm not sure the photographic evidence proves much. Having witnessed forecheck's coaching performance last weekend, I'd say she fits right in with the guys.
  17. All you need to do is configure the ad-blocking options. I set mine to block pop-up ads, but allowed it to display ad banners, which aren't as annoying. I'd give you more details on how to do this, but I'm not at my home computer right now.
  18. You're 109?
  19. Nobody's older than me.
  20. The USCHO message board is still there. You didn't by any chance recently install a Web ad-blocking program, did you? I know that when I installed Norton Internet Security and turned on ad blocking, the top part of the USCHO page wasn't displayed. That part includes the button to the message boards.
  21. Here's a partial score: SiouxSports.com 4

    Coaches Show?

I turned on the radio about 6:45 p.m. and they were running Fox Sports Network programming. I assume there was no coaches show because the team left for Minneapolis today.

You tell 'em, missy. And, WPoS, you young whippersnapper, you better hope that my hearing aid is on the fritz, otherwise I'll hit you with my cane!
  24. I know that the column is supposed to be funny and tongue-in-cheek, but, except for this part... ...I think that what the author says -- while exaggerated -- is mostly true. If he would have said that in the last 54 years, college has had about three different champions recognized by the mainstream sports media, then he'd be much closer to the truth.
