  1. And Drew was the first one to admit that after the game. But as the saying goes, put the puck on net, and good things happen. I still don't think the Sioux do that enough. Minnesota's first goal against DU last night was a great example of what the Gophers do so well. The defenseman fired a shot from the blue line that Fisher saw all the way. But Ben Gordon got his stick on the puck and deflected it in for the goal. Maybe as a result of Stafford's goal the team will realize that they need to shoot the puck more and throw it toward the net more when they have the opportunity.
  2. I predict that he'll stay for his senior year. He loves UND. He loves playing for Hakstol. His parents want him to get his degree. He wants to win an NCAA national championship. He wants another opportunity to pound Paukovich. Plus, I'm pretty sure that Brett Hull thinks he should stay in school. Come next season, he will be on the ice wearing green and white. Mark my words.
  3. So, do you think this is Brady Murray's year to win the Hobey?
  4. You can get live results via the Web on the USA-Kazakhstan game here. Canada vs. Germany live results are here.

Nah. I tried to deal with the Minny Daily before when they printed their bogus information about UND wearing black, no-logo jerseys at SCSU. They corrected that obvious error, but refused to admit to others. They're totally clueless and prefer to remain that way when it comes to anything related to North Dakota. You can't expect much more from the editor who introduced Hoff to the newspaper's reading by saying: They love anyone who confirms their stereotypes about North Dakota and North Dakotans. But not to worry. Hoff is wearing out his welcome in the Twin Cities, just as he wore it out in Grand Forks. When Scott Hennen was still doing Hot Talk in Grand Forks, a woman who agreed with Hoff's political views called in to talk about her encounter with him. She thought that if she could convince Hoff to soften some of his rhetoric and back off on his always-on-the-attack style, he might stand a better chance of winning people over to their point of view. Unforutnately, their meeting over coffee ended with Hoff angrily shouting her down in public and calling her names. So much for tact and diplomacy. Hoff's Minnesota Daily columns attacking a local political icon who champions homeless causes drew this response from Guy Gambill, a U of M almunus and member of city and county homlessness advisory boards: Yes, Hoff is winning friends and influencing people in the Twin Cities just as he did in Grand Forks. It might take a bit longer before he self-destructs there, but it will happen.
  6. With stuff like this happening nearly every day, the power of human stupidity might soon impact the earth's rotation. Ah, the symbolic gesture. A sure way to make yourself feel better about the world without actually doing anything useful.

Someone wrote a blog about this a week ago.
  8. From the Green Mill, Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman are the hosts with Sioux hockey coach Dave Hakstol. TH: You didn
  9. Gosh, are you sure? I'm positive that it took Bernie a whole month to compose a special e-mail just to me.
  10. More than a month after I sent the letter below, I received this response from the NCAA:
  11. Probably Sioux-cia.
  12. Do you seriously believe that UND could attract the average requirement of 15,000 per game to participate in DI-A football?
  13. Maybe we could send Uncle Rico's time machine to DaveK.
  14. That article was a load of bovine scatology when it was first published and remains so today. The Sioux went through two seasons (01-02 and 02-03) in which goaltending was a major issue. Mike Eidelbes set up a straw man argument (i.e. UND goalies have been cursed for 16 years) and then made selective use of facts to knock down his flawed premise.
  15. Ryan Miller, Michigan State's goalie. He wasn't too shabby himself.
  16. Jon Durno, the wookie, played for Canisius. His brother Chris played for MTU.
  17. There's a first time for everything.
  18. Dave Hakstol said on the coaches' show this week that Matt Greene could have turned pro last year but didn't. I've heard from very reliable sources that Matt Jones could have gone pro after his junior year but didn't. Same thing for Jordan Leopold. While most players go when the team that drafted them calls, it's not necessarily a given that they will.
  19. And wasn't it nice of NDSU to provide its official photographer to shoot the NY Times' flattering portrait of Grand Forks? There's so much love in the air!
  20. Fixed.
  21. It means your prediction sounds as if it were made by someone with delusions of grandeur.
  22. I should've played it safe and said J. Ulmer.
  23. Sniff...sniff Hmm... Smells like Minnesota Husky in here.
  24. I thought this comment by Brett Hull, as quoted by Todd Milewski in his weekly USCHO column, was interesting. Please listen to Mr. Hull's sage advice, Matt, Drew, Travis, T.J., Brian, Jonathan and Joe.
