  1. I agree that Marto could be a contributor, maybe not so much his freshman season, but down the road. Lives-to-play... wow, you continue to amaze. If we lose Lee, that is a huge hole to fill on the blue line that Lapointe or Marto would have trouble with immediately. If we get Lee for another season, I think Radke may be fighting for some icetime... just my take.
  2. All of us true hockey fans realize how lucky we were to have you for two seasons. Good luck with everything, you are going to be a superstar in the NHL the first time you step on the ice. My only hope is that Chicago isn't the hockey wasteland it has been the last few years. I hope they make some moves this offseason to strengthen their chances of a playoff run. You will be a Sioux forever, but kick some ass in your new sweater next season!
  3. I'm sorry, but we need some better options for our "fuel efficient" alternatives. The natural gas car that fetch posted would be blown over in a mild North Dakota wind, and I want someone to tell me how I am supposed to fit my wife, children and dog with all of our stuff in a Prius when we take trips (even short ones). Gas is expensive, yes, and it's not going to get any better I'm afraid, so until someone invents an alternative fuel delivery system that will change the world, we are stuck with what we have. Someone sneak into GM headquarters and steal the hydrogen fuel technology they've had for the last ten years and we can start making some progress . You can't tell me with all the brilliant minds in the world, we just can't figure it out? There is too much money on the line for the oil and auto companies for someone to make them obsolete with groundbreaking technology. Oh well, until then, I will pay the price at the pump and grumble like everyone else, but what can we do.
  4. I agree Ottawa has been the better team, but I have a feeling Buffalo will pull this one out... hopefully in the second OT, because I may not stay awake for a third. I know I will sound like a Sioux homer, but I think Buffalo misses Staffords energy on the ice. He's lightning fast, he plays well both ways and he can score at any given time, but hey, who am I to question Lindy. Any bets on if Stafford sees the ice the rest of the playoffs? EDIT: Nevermind, Ottawa just won it five minutes into the second OT. Buffalo loses the first two at home, pretty big hole to dig out of.
  5. Coach Murray's quote at the end of the clip is priceless... "Sweden had played very well this tournament, they just hadn't played Canada yet."
  6. That is pretty funny but shouldn't you be working since we are on the topic of being off topic, are you coming this weekend, if so we should golf, as the chance of rain has decreased each day.
  7. Maybe no logical argument to you, but JT may have different priorities. I don't think he is motivated only by the $$$. Have you ever thought it might be important to him to come back to win a national title, or win his third world junior gold (or both ). I think this group of players are very close, and I think that is why he hasn't signed his pro contract already. I'm not saying he is back in a Sioux jersey for sure, but if he had already made up his mind, I think we would already know. It is very obvioius he is ready for the next level, he can compete with the best right now, at barely 19, but he may feel he has some unfinished business before he moves on. Let's hope we see the DOT line for one more season, and we can have another legit contender for "best Sioux line ever" Go Sioux!
  8. Was trying to follow Toews' action a little today, and saw that Bochenski has a goal and an assist in the USA's first couple of games, both wins. The IIHF website has all the games listed with live updates on stats while the games are going on. Not as good as listening, but ok to check periodically. http://www.iihf.com/Hydra/Tournaments_07/o.../113/index.html
  9. I hate to agree with a BADgers fan, but Pavelski had a good soph. season, even in a bad system. That being said, Eaves system is still the worst hockey to watch, and thwarts offensive creativity. The damn BADgers have the best incoming class, so lets see how they fare next season. Nowhere to go but up for them
  10. Didn't see it mentioned, so I will. Stafford notched another goal in their game 1 win last night. It is nice to see him getting more playing time, as it didn't seem he was on the ice much early in the NYI series. I predict ZPar has a goal tonight in a Devils win, assisted by Zajac of course. EDIT: nevermind, it was on the playoff thread, which I read after posting this... I'll save someone the trouble of scolding me for posting it twice or putting it in the incorrect thread... bad me!
  11. and Wiconson, and Cornell. It is actually pretty impressive the calibur of players that college hockey as a whole has been recruiting the past few years (even if it is only for a year or two). But then you get happy surprises like Oshie and Chorney... and Toews ... who stay longer than expected.
  12. Sounds like they have a pretty good following down in New Mexico. Prp is having a good playoffs so far. He leads his team with 12 goals, is second in points and second in PIM. It's nice to see him doing so well, and you know that smile never leaves his face.
  13. after their loss (can't remember to who), after everyone else was off the ice, he skated full speed into the net and took it out??? apparently he has some mental issues. i think lucia pet kicked him off the team for the rest of the season, was let back on the beginning of this season, and kicked off again. obviously he has some off the ice issues, because he was one of their leading scorers. im sure someone here could give you a link, but the video of the final five incident is on you tube. EDIT - dont know how i didn't remember it was against us. also don't know his whole story (dont know if anyone does) but it would be interesting to know
  14. I have to agree with all the posts. Fabian and Porter were hilarious I hope that isn't the last time I see Toews in a Sioux jersey but we told him we've enjoyed watching him the last couple of years, and wished him the best of luck whatever he decides. He seemed generally appreciative of all the nice comments he was getting. I told him we will follow him in Chicago too... whenever that ends up being Not to mention that every player stayed an hour past the scheduled end time to sign everyones stuff, great night!
  15. What a great night!! First off, I want to say what a classy group of kids. We should all be proud to be Sioux fans. Not only was I able to get Duncan's game worn BCHL Salmon Arm jersey signed by the entire DOT line *SWEET* but my nine month old daughter had her picture taken with all of them, and with our family favorite Rylan Kaip! I don't think I will stop smiling all summer. My wife already informed me that I cannot have those pictures blown up to poster size and displayed at the church at my daughters wedding some day GO FIGHTING SIOUX!!!!
  16. I don't think he/she was making any reference to you personally (sorry siouxpervillian - don't know your gender so don't want to offend). I think that they were pointing out that those who know Brian and his family realize that your statement is completely untrue. EDIT - I don't know him or his family, so I cannot comment about it with any certainty, but I usually give our players some credit, it seems Hakstol recruits good character people.
  17. Does your Radke poster say "enough with the supid penalties"... just kidding. I've never been to one of these, so I am excited. Driving up from West Fargo after work with the wife and daughter. Maybe JT will have a big announcement to make tonight
  18. Very nice post. I have been dissapointed with Lee and Finley's play at times, which most of us have been, but they are both great defensemen and we would be in a hurt bag next year without them. Most of us understand that they both came in straight out of high school, and that there was going to be some growing pains, but I thought they both played solid this season, especially the second half. As Sioux fans, we support ALL of our players. That doesn't mean we can't be dissapointed if a player has a bad game or two, but we still support them. The criticism of Lee and Finley has been pretty over the top this year, and at times we as Sioux fans were too focused on finding a scapegoat for the poor first half. I don't think it is any coincidence that as Lee and Finley (and our entire d-corp for that matter) started to gel and play better as a group, the team took off and we all know that led to St. Louis. I hope to see these boys in a Sioux sweater for another year standing on the blue line. Go Fighting Sioux!!! #8 in '08
  19. I think Duncan and Chorney already have TJ on the hook to stay I hope. And if Chicago drafts the Russian kid and they can't get him over here this year due to the bargaining issues, maybe JT says what the hell do I have to go to Chicago for, I'll stay one more year, win my third world junior championship, win #8 with the Sioux as the captain, then go make my millions when I am finally 20. My world is much cheerier with my green colored glasses on, especially since it is snowing in the middle of April. Go Sioux!
  20. I have a friend who works with his wife who said he's not going anywhere. All the big boys think he needs another year to grow with the Sioux. Even though he was drafted highly, doesn't mean he is ready, it means he has the potential for the big time. And to all the Triouxper haters, don't think it is that easy to replace that kind of experience with wings and beer, it takes time to develop that type of talent.
  21. couple of things... i was just wondering what the facebook stuff is about brian, i don't have an account nor will i be getting one so it wont let me see it. no matter what junk is out there, whether it is on facebook or here or other internet forums, i have a feeling that mr. lee has a pretty good head on his shoulders and is not going to let this type of stuff affect his decisions reguarding his future. i agree with that majority that he should have a good junior year if he stays, and he will be missed on the blue line if he leaves, you can't replace that experience on the blue line quickly. also... i guess i didn't follow that careers of the earlier sioux players that closely, but patrick played for 20 years in the NHL! pretty impressive.
  22. What a great article! Sounds like the Sioux were the most intense and focused team during the Wednesday practice. I like how we got a C for the post practice press conference. What like Hakstol is ever standoffish and just gives lip service answers....
  23. What, no Hakstol for the Spencer Penrose? I guess two out of three aint bad. Go Fighting Sioux! Is it seven yet?
  24. PCM, you should talk to Mr. Snow about his sources, but he didn't get it from me. Article today on NHL.com about the future NHLers in the frozen four talks about Bochenski, Parise and Stafford as one of the best lines in NCAA history. I don't know how to link it, but is is at the top of the main page on NHL.com.
  25. I agree with some of what you say Vegas... but all of the aforementioned players would start on a WCHA team, any time, lets not get crazy. Hrkac's numbers won't ever be touched, and as mentioned earlier, most of the "best line" nominies were two horses with an able body filling the third slot (like Parise, Bochenski... ). I like the Goren/Bayda/Ulmer line, good darkhorse in this discussion. I don't think you can base this solely on numbers, otherwise there would be no discussion. I still think when we look back on this in ten years, we can say that the DOT line might be the most solid line (all three) who skated together.
