I would tend to go to more games if I knew we were at least competitive. Having a few beers and burgers before hand and then to a game that we have a chance of winning if we play well is attractive to me. Going to a game that we are behind 21-0 in the first quarter gets old very fast. Especially when you know it will probably just get worse. I can have fun at the event without winning the game.

Pretty impressive award for UND signee. Junior this year. Shanley’s Fraase presented with award given to student-athletes who define leadership Fargo Alivia Fraase’s junior year at Fargo Shanley High School just keeps getting better and better. Wednesday, in front of the entire Shanley student body, Fraase was presented a National Guard Inspiration Award. The award – presented in conjunction with USA Today High School Sports – is given to only 15 student-athletes in the nation a year and is in its second year as a program, which honors athletes who define leadership. “It is a great honor,” said Fraase, who plays volleyball and basketball at Shanley. “I’m really speechless. … It is really exciting.” Fraase maintains a 3.79 GPA and volunteers with a variety of organizations including Bag of Hope, where volunteers make gifts for hospitalized children. Last fall, Fraase committed to play volleyball at the University of North Dakota and surpassed 1,000 career kills, while helping the Deacons to a 31-3 record along with a third-place finish at the Class A state tournament. In the winter, the 6-foot forward was a member of the Shanley basketball squad that won the Class A state championship with a 53-29 win over Minot. Fraase posted eight points and 10 rebounds in the title game. “A lot has happened this year, and I’m very grateful,” Fraase said. “A lot of the credit goes to my family, friends, coaches and teammates. They have been by my side throughout the years. Their support has been unreal, and I give all the credit to them.” North Dakota Army National Guard Brigadier General Joe Dohrmann presented the award to Fraase along with a commander’s coin. “She truly is an inspiration to those around her,” Dohrmann said during the ceremony. “Inspiration is defined as something that makes someone want to do something. A force or influence inspires someone and when I read about Alivia those two words, force and influence, ring true about her character and what she has done here at Shanley High School.” “When I’m on the court, I realize there are people watching and there are kids smiling and having fun,” Fraase added. “They look up to high schoolers, a lot more than what people think. I think it is important to stay on the right track even when you don’t think there are people watching. There are eyes everywhere.” In addition to her sports and volunteer work, Fraase has got into coaching this spring, taking some time to pass on her knowledge of volleyball to those eager to learn from the all-state standout. “I coach sixth-grade volleyball during the spring,” Fraase said. “This is my first year doing it, and I absolutely love it. We have practices on Wednesdays, and it has been fun getting to know the girls on a personal level. I just hope I am a role model for them.” https://secure.forumcomm.com/?publisher_ID=1&article_id=431747&CFID=515157092&CFTOKEN=73200111

Does anybody know if Klabo is interested in UND? Sounds like UND is pretty interested. Is she still growing? I agree with Iramurphy that she is athletic. Can shoot inside outside, drive. Didn't notice how she did defensively. Will have to pay closer attention next year.

Sioux Gophers the 2014 Championship Edition
SiouxFan100 replied to Vegas_Sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
My prediction: End of 1st Period MN up 2 - 0 End of 2nd Period MN up 2 - 1 End of 3rd Period Tied at 3 UND wins in 1st overtime -
Trying not to sound more clueless than I usually do but where does Ohio get the money to pay that type of salary for coaches? TV? Alumni? Attendance?

How do I go back and change some of my wrong picks? If I could change them I would rank a little higher.

UND had 14-15 NHL drafted players vs zero for Ferris. Players get drafted for their potential and players get recruited for their potential. So, both Hak and his staff plus a bunch of NHL scouts singled out UND players as having better/more potential than Ferris players. I think it is a valid argument that UND should win this game. Or, both UND and the NHL need to change up their staff that does recruiting. Or, UND isn't developing their players. I do buy into the argument that Ferris had older more experienced players. Either way, great regional and Let's beat the rodents.

We will all know a lot more about this bracket picker thingamigic depending on the Notre Dame St Cloud game. I went with St Cloud
-
So do you hope your picks win (mainly the favorites) or do you hope for upsets so that UND has a better chance

Game Day. Let's go Sioux
-
Might have to have a beer or two before and during this game.
-
I have seen Klabo play half a dozen times against Shanley. didn't have her best games. Wasn't a factor in the games I watched. Had other very good games. has potential
-
Pretty bad luck to go 0 for 4. Why did people pick Providence?
-
Wow this is great. love being a Sioux!

What about Fargo? BWW? Gastropub in South Fargo?

Sounds like the A&M coach came over to the Sioux crowd after the game and said some nice things. Anybody know more about this?
-
By the way. A&M's coach seemed like a class act. Would be nice to know what he told Buck in line after the game. He seemed to call off the dogs later in the 2nd half knowing they were going to win but he wasn't too concerned about the score.
-
With Wall in foul trouble Evers had extended minutes. though Evers was a trooper, it looked like she was tired and probably not as effective. So, I am encouraged that she can play more than 3 minutes at a time but it would be nice to rotate somebody else in. Maybe let Evers play four or five minutes at a crack if needed. Coach might adjust the offense and defense depending on who is playing. Sure was nice having two bigs.
-
A&M is good. I hope we can settle down.
-
bad start of second half
-
Even if the 2nd half turns ugly I am happy. What a showing for UND. the first of many tourney showings for the Sioux
-
Wall cannot get 4th foul right away. Evers is tired. She would normally make those shots.
-
outrebounded 28-15 we are shooting 30% and A&m is 38% we have less turnovers we are getting good shots couldn't have asked for anymore. this is beyond my best expectations
