The Sioux women gave the gopher woman everything they wanted. That was a very evenly played game. Minnesota is, however, very very good at clogging the lanes with their big defensive women. That being said the Sioux women have a very real chance of beating them. If it were not for Raty early in that first period UND would have had at least a couple. Why not play them right away? At some point you're going to have to. It will be fun to watch and both teams will bring their "A" game....comes down to bounces as well.

Voter fraud!! This has to be a crime in some way. The two leading scorers in the history of the WCHA which is the toughest league in the world to play in and make the Olympic team!!! What a joke. I don't care what they have done in the past to who or to what. Just on principal and stats alone they both should have been Kazmier finalists and first team All-WCHA. There should be an investigation by the NCAA. I am not kidding. I hope the Sioux women use this as a spring board for motivation this weekend and destroy the badgers and goofs.

If anyone wants to see some skilled high school girls hockey players I believe the North Dakota Girls High School State Hockey Tournament is this weekend at the Ralph.

Lets face it....Lucia is not a man and won't subject his Edina (Every Day I Need Attention) boys to big boy hockey. What a wuss.

No question the teams these kids come from are awesome.

Anybody have any idea on who the incoming freshman are going to be this fall and the year after as well? I would think a couple of more "blue chippers" would really vault this team to the top as I think they are right there......just need to seal the deal on some of the close games.

So apparently all the The Fighting Sioux supporters in this thread sound "small and petty" to you because they want to continue the rivalry reguardless of their reasoning?

Who's ranting? I am just stating my point of view. To give up your biggest rival is just plain stupidy on so many fronts. from the fan standpoint, financially, and national interest.....just for starters. Most people on this thread are saying that football and basketball are the big sports.....no doubt about it. But wouldn't you want to keep the biggest money maker series the men's hockey team has?

No I am not one of those. That being said, there is a HUGE difference between the SEC and Big 14. Believe me the Bison would do just fine in the Big 14.....that is how bad the the Big 14 is. The Big 14 sucks in football. You know it and I know. I hope the hockey goes the same way.

My point exactly. Thank you. Let's just put it this way, the Bison would finish in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten (as much as I hate to say). My point is the Big Ten is as arrogant as it gets. I could care less about the Gerbil hockey team.....but why would you give up your biggest rival to play the likes of Mankato State, Bemidji and St. Cloud. For years, Bemidji State tried to schedule the Gerbils and they would not play them when Bemidji State was moving from Div. II to Div.1 when The Sioux WOULD schedule BSU......and now they are going to give up playing The Fighting Sioux to play these chumps. What else other than arrogance on their part could it be?

........or maybe how Nebraska gives up almost 700 yards to UCLA and loses.....or how Illinois gets crushed by Arizona State and Louisiana Tech, Iowa loses to Iowa State, Central Michigan and barely beats Northern Illinois, .....or how Wisconsin loses to Oregon State....should I go on? Oh and I see now how they are really going to strengthen the conference now by adding Maryland and Rutgers!!! What a joke! The only good thing about that is that hopefully they will add more hockey teams to the conference.

First and foremost......Big Ten football sucks. Anything non-conference they get destroyed and the two top finishers are both ineligable to play in a bowl. Second, the U of M athletic department is probably the worst D-1 program in the nation. Joel Maturi set that program back 50-years. What an idiot. Third, for Lucia not to schedule The Fighting Sioux is pure flat-out arrogance. Its in line with anything else that happens in Minneapolis-St.Paul. They (the residents and the university) think they are better than everyone else at ANYTHING in any part of the country and this is just an extension of that.

Just with the addition of the Dufault kid alone will make them a contender. She is the most dominating girls/womens player I have ever seen play and will make an immediate impact. In additon, if Shelby Amsley-Benzie can get the starting nod, look out! She is rock-solid.

All very good points. Hockey is a year round sport now and the coaches have many opportunities to see kids other than regular season games. Most of the girls in North Dakota play on summer travel teams as well and from what I understand do very well. That being said, girls hockey in the state is still at the stage of getting off the ground so comparing it to the boys is not apples to apples to apples. Girls hockey in North Dakota is just a differnent animal altogether.

No you are not off base and no it is not his job to improve North Dakota High School Hockey. But, as a public figure, and he is even though he is the head womens coach and not the men's, in my opinion, needs to be seen more. For North Dakota girls, there is absolutley no hope, unless you are complete stud like a Lindsay Nagel, to play D-1......and some of the kids that really take it seriously have to move out of the state to another organization to be seen. I mean really how hard would it be to attend 1-2 games a year....heck he could even do it just in Grand Forks for starters. Just my 2 cents.

.........I'll take that one further. With the addition of the Dufault kid, I really think this team can make a run at a national title.......this year. She is without a doubt, the real deal and in alot of ways, Idalski's first real blue chipper that he has landed......other than Karvinen (sp?) that is. As I have said earlier, Idalksi needs to have more of a presence in the state......he doesn't have to sign anyone or even recruit a kid.......he just needs to show the younger girls in the state that there is hope.

I for one am voitng no. When is it enough? The NCAA gets away with "murder" and nobody questions them. At least I can say I didn't bow to the most corrupt organization in all the land. Listening to O'keefe the other day on the radio made me want to puke. I mean really, bringing up the topic of the possibility that NDSU won't play UND because of the Fighting Sioux nickname? I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I know this topic is addressed in another thread but I saw it here first and needed to vent.
