  1. Heck, we won't really know how good any of them are for another three years. kind of like playing the stock market.
  2. It is interesting to see that Montana does very well in D1AA with a significant number of Montana recruits. I do think that High School football is stronger in MT than in ND, but I do think that there will be a number of ND kids that can play D1AA ball.
  3. Now, now.....the half time titty last Sunday was really quite a memorable event in Superbowl history, however, after all the bumping and grinding beforehand it should not have been such a huge shock....
  4. I am biased being from Williston originally, but I think that Jangula kid is a great recruit for NDSU. I was happy to see Williston on the list.
  5. I gotta agree with Sicatoka on that on. My thought on this years NDSU class is that they are a solid recruiting class, but nothing that really makes you say WOW, like last years class did. However, there is the potential to be a fantastic class. Just one of those things where it is much easier to judge in hind sight.
  6. On a serious note, looks like you guys had a good signing day. No doubt the appearance in the title game helps a lot.
  7. He must have wanted to play on a D1AA team......as opposed to a smaller division...
  8. I don't know...I have lived in the Big City and moved to Wyoming and love being back in a small town, but I have a sister in Seattle that would go berserk back in ND. I think she has been brainwashed out there...
  9. ND is in my heart and soul, but let's be real.....ain't nothin' hip about North Dakota. (Except for the bird hunting).
  10. ....And suddenly a hush falls over the Sioux Fans.....
  11. What a joke. Almost any comment made on this site by a Bison Fan is responded to by some kind of negative remark towards NDSU. To claim this site and the fans posting here are some how so much above the Bisonville site is just bull$%!#. Maybe if you keep telling yourself this fairy tale long enough it will come true.
  12. Catching up on this thread.....lots of talk about poor attendance by Bison fand at UND and Sioux fans at NDSU. I think this whole thing got screwed up in the 80's when Bison/Sioux wasn't played on the same weekend. When I was in undergrad school the game was played Friday at one place and Saturday at the other. Splitting the games up was the worse thing that the schools could have done for keeping the intensity high for the games. If I remember right it was paranoia aboud students drinking and driving that cause the games to be split like that. All I can say is it was a stupid move.
  13. NDSU is going to have to make sure and play tough when they meet SDSU at Fargo. I am sure that is the toughest game remaining. With the number of losses this Bison tam has, they can't afford to drop another.
  14. NDSU should have the upper hand, but SDSU did spank us pretty good last weekend. I am still not sure why this NDSU mens team has been so tough. It is pretty unexpected....a pleasant surprise.
  15. Honestly....it is hard to get overly excited about SDSU. We usually pound them in Football and then they reciprocate in Basketball....I do think that some good rivalries could develop with the Montana schools....the old Montana/North Dakota thing. That is where the greatest potential for a rivalry to develop exists. I also must say that I may be biased since I am from Williston.
  16. Sicatoka....I had to go back through all those posts to find your question.... Yes, I think there will either be a reduction or an elimination of the waiting periods as this thing gets going. That is why I am not at all worried about the long waiting period on Basketball. I think in this environment it is likely to get reduced. An interesting hook that the NCAA has in the BCS schools in this whole thing is Basketball. The BCS can take Football and walk from the NCAA, but Basketball is entirely another matter. The BCS would not want to leave the schools like Gonzaga, etc behind....they make March Madness too interesting....so there in lies the hook. It will be fun to watch...
  17. Holy s&!t....lets slow things down....this was a thread about conference shifting and instability in the NCAA presenting opportunities for movement. Why the hell are we talking about hockey.....and pipes in the Fargodome..... Let's have a reasonably intelligent discussion...
  18. I think that the trickle down effect of all this turmoil in D2, DI-AA and DI-A will result in more defections from the NCC. Scholarships will be cut and the bigger programs will leave. The BCS schools will leave the NCAA totally and I would guess that when all shakes out (maybe up to 5 years down the road) There will be about 3 non-BCS divisions under the NCAA and the BCS division that will not be affiliated with the NCAA. I think this is the beginning of huge instability in the NCAA.....NDSU is just at the cutting edge and will benefit from the move.
  19. Probably quite a bit if you consider the trickle down effect on the NCC.
  20. Here is a great article from the DI-AA board on the conference turmoil in the DI-AA West. The author is our own Bison Kent. It really shows how the turmoil from DI-A is shaking the entire ranks of college football. Evnthough the article does not mention it, I am sure that the effects of all this are even impacting D3 and NAIA in ways. I don't think I have seen such turmoil in conference affiliations and college football since the NCAA lost its monopoly on TV rights. From my perpective I would say that the more power the BSC schools get, the worse it is for DI-AA, D2 and D3. Check out Kent's column..... DI-AA West Column
  21. Sioux'01, I don't think that is the case as SDSU has been able to schedule teams like Georgia Southern with no problem on a home and home type arrangement. I think it is like Couteau said....the Montana win was huge for NDSU, but it is also making us pay the price. Especially since our games won't count as D1AA games for the D1AA schools. My point was that UND will have an easier time finding D2 competition because of 2 things. 1, the games count as a D2 game for D2 competitors and 2, After the NC a couple years ago and the showing this past season, it would look very good to have the Sioux on your schedule. If the folks in administration are making the right calls on scheduling they will dump the Crookstons (and it sounds like that is happening) and schedule some rough non-conference games.
  22. With UND's showing this past season I am sure that many teams would be looking to play the Sioux. I doubt that it would hurt you finding some tough D2 competition. It will hurt you playing up a division. I think that NDSU's win over Montana put us at a disadvantage in finding D1AA games (since we count as a D2 opponent for D1AA schools and a D1AA opponenet for D2 schools....go figure). SDSU has had a much easier time finding quality D1AA competition.
  23. Thanks for the picture Jim.
  24. From the Fargo Forum..... Sgt. Keith Smette, 25, an NDSU student from Makoti and staff Sgt. Kenneth Hendrickson, 41, of Bismarck, were members of the Bismarck-based 957th Multi-Role Bridge Company. We lost one of ours in Bisonland. Kind of brings it all home.
  25. I don't think that there would ever be the intense support of hockey at NDSU like there is at UND. NDSU is geared pretty much towards football. It is even tough to get real excited over Basketball....although I am trying this year...
