I have found the DI-AA fans to be a great group of fans. They are excited about thier teams an anxious to travel to our part of the world to support thier teams....and very welcoming and giving lots of helpful travel advice when we visit them.

.....as far as market share and to relate this discussion back to the original topic....if I happened to be visiting western ND (I am from Williston) while UND were playing Mary in a NCC football match.....I would be on the road to Bismarck in a heart beat to watch.

I don't think you can sell Mary short. They have a lot of support and are very much a growing institution. I would say the other DAC 10 schools would be bad for D2, but Mary would be very good. Much better than many schools getting into D2 in other parts of the country. Hell, take a look at North Greenville if you want to see a joke that ought to not be in D2. I also think there may be some potential for Minot State because of the size of the community and the quality of the facilities. But......Mary would be a high quality addition to D2.

During the early 90's I taught at Minot State and went to both the Basketball and Football games and I think the crowds would be competative with the lower tier of the NCC.

With the support they enjoy in Bismarck, Mary would be able to fund all the scholarships. Mary could be a tough competitor with solid attendance figures. Dakota State....no way.

I got a favor to ask the UND fans.....would you guys keep 1234 entertained over here so he stays off of Bisonville? If you think he is an idiot here....you should read the garbage on Bisonville....

Hello UND fans...I see you were wondering if we were still around....Yes...we still stop by, but there isn't much to post about anymore. And on this topic.....UND would be my odds on favorite to take the D2 title. If that happens it will be interesting to see if Lennon stays or bails. Actually, after last year's tough game, I would like to see UND stick it to GVSU. By the way.....It seems the Georgia Southern fans are as obnoxious as Sioux fans....good trash talkers....

......This whole discussion reminds me of the days back when I was on Student Senate...a guy named Gary Reinke was the Director of the Physical Plant. I can't remember the specifics of the particular issue that was being discussed, but I do remember Mr. Reinke refering to the students as "four year transients". He is one of those that should have been put out to pasture early....

Common now.....you guys really think anything would happen at a University that would be convenient to students? Hell, I have been out of school for darn near 20 years and I still have not forgot that much...

I have heard from reliable sources that is is not at all helpful with the media and that he has not really embraced the internet as a means of publicity. I think the lack of attention to the internet has been demonstrated in many ways. First, the GoBison.com web site is not as good as it could be. Second, Bob Holiday said on a post at Bisonville that George was never forthcoming with information to him or his website. That is unacceptable for a SID to be like that. He ought to be very helpful with the web sites out there that are promoting Bison athletics. Hard for me to figure why he wouldn't be. Back when I was in school he seemed like a good and capable SID, maybe he has just gotten to old an stuck in his ways for the job.

Not sure, I started at NDSU in 79 and went through Grad School there and never saw one of those pins, so I bet it is from the early 70's. Heck, I remember back in the days prior to political correctness we had t-shirts that said "Sioux Suck" and had a guy with a feather in in head under the Bison trying to do you know what..... Damn, we gave up too much to be politically correct.....

Face it, no one considers UND a D1 school. You guys are living in a dream if you believe that. That kind of unprogressive attitude is what makes ND backwards and resistant to progress. You need to move on with us, or you will be left behind with the Minot State's of education.

NDSU needs to put people in the seats and a loosing team will not do that....especially with no post season for the next few years. I think that Chapman and Taylor realize this and that is why the schollies are ramping up so fast. It also will lead to large guarantee money sooner as well. In reality, both NDSU and UND should have been D1 15 years ago. The state of North Dakota deserves that. With the two flagship schools being D2, higher ed in ND has been seen as at a lesser level than other states. I am sure over the next few years as this shakes out we will see UND moving up as well. Both UND and NDSU have few peers in D2 and both institutions are a much better fit in D1. I am not sure that NDSU and UND will ever be in the same conference again, but I do think that with in the next 5 years they will once again share a division.

I don't think the fuindraising will be a problem. The out of state alumni seem to really be digging into thier pockets to fund this. The people that are out of state understand more that most the importance of this move and the significance of it. I am sure NDSU will have little trouble meeting the 7.7 million dollar budget.

In the end....NDSU took the cup......Good bye....

I have to say I am in agreement with the Forum on todays editorial. I would prefer the Nickel to hang in the ND Heritage Center in Bismarck, but I am not upset at all if it stays at UND. http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...section=Opinion

Seems like as of late D2football.com has disabled the message board.

Maybe it would make sense for the trophy to go on display at the Heritage Center in Bismarck. It is a part of North Dakota history for many of us. And, since the rivalry is gone it no longer fills the roll it once did between UND and NDSU.

I am not in favor of the Nickel being turned trinket for a fundraiser. I think the intentions are good on the part of Blue Key, but it is not the right thing to do with the Nickel.

I was a paying member of the D2 board and I have to say that making the users pay really made the board a "dull" place. I suspect that opening it to all will make for much improved discussion.

...Again....ain't no one going to defend Montana Tech. It was filler....and served its purpose. In a transitional year that is OK.....in a non-transitional year it would get me pissed. Bottom line....a cream puff game and a Bison win....
