I've read some stories where bison fans have said they will be voting yes purely to hurt UND. Any bison fan who votes yes simply because they think keeping the nickname will harm UND is admitting that their teams cannot complete with UND when the playing field is level and equal.
Any Bison fan that would vote to keep the name is a fool. Actually, let me restate that......any North Dakotan that would vote to retain the nick name is a fool. The real nightmare for the entire system will come when the legislature meets and Al Carlson and his cronies start flexing their new found political power and hammer higher ed.

I can see a huge push by NDSU to stick a knife in UND athletics.
Are you completely stupid? This is a terrible ruling for all of higher ed, not just UND. Maybe if you had actually attended something other than Aakers Business College you would understand this.

My Griz buddy In Missoula bascially texted me two words when I asked him about this developement yesterday..."Penn St."! He said he has heard rumors of major player cover-ups by the head coach and AD over the last couple years. Will see what leaks out...
......and if that is the case, heads needed to roll. Just a sad situation for all of FCS football.

Pretty damn stunning watching this. I had a chance to meet and visit with Jim O'Day at the FCS Championship game in Frisco. I was impressed with his candor and I think he is a stand up guy. It is too bad that he got dismissed. Jim O'Day was a big ally for UND in this nickname storm with the Big Sky.

I disagree, the only reason this rivalry isn't considered similar to all the other "Big" rivalries, is because people in our part of the country have more respect for each than to turn it into a violent life-altering rivalry. ie. Texas fans cutting the testicles off an Oklahoma fan.
The other reason would be the size of the fanbases.
OK......I have to say that I have not heard the story of Texas fans cutting off the nuts of an Oklahoma fan. Tell me more about this........sounds like an urban legend, but I am suspecting it actually happened......

Streaming can be hit and miss at times unless you have one heck of an ISP. I know ours out here in Green River is lousy, so I will have to keep Directv. Added beni with Directv......I take a dish out camping with me and then when using the travel trailer, I can get TV anywhere for an extra $5 per month. I just use my old SD dish and an extra SD receiver that I activate when I head out camping (usually May-Oct).

In a way it's sort of funny how many people are convinced that the school is going to be damaged by this issue when in reality we do not know for a fact if any of the doomsday theories will actually come true or not, but in another more realistic way it's actually quite sad and pathetic. No guts, no glory.
Hell yes.......what is wrong with playing Russian Roulette with one of the major Higher Ed institutions in North Dakota. It sure seems sensible to me.

He admitted the name should go years and years ago, maybe after being away from coaching he will show up in ND. If he can find his way up here.

Every one of us......UND or NDSU fan......better be hoping the SBOHE prevails on this lawsuit. This is one of those occasions where UND and NDSU would be hurt by a ruling supporting Carlson and the assclowns in the legislature.
That is assuming you care about your entire University rather than just the Hockey program.......

Well, thanks for setting us all straight. I knew we could count on an AC fan to set us straight. It wasn't a mistake to quit playing you in FB at the time. Had we played NDSU when we were D2 it would have been held against us and the one year we likely wouldnt' have made the playoffs at all. That has been rpeviously documented and discussed. It was a mistake to quit playing the AC in the other sports. Tim is in the Alumni Office and I am not sure he is informed of all of the ramifications of the D2 FB playoffs.
OK.....now I am going to cry foul.......I have to go find glasses to read that darn small print........

The North Dakota Legislature is notorious for trying to micro-manage Higher Ed in ND. The Carlson nickname bill was just one of many attempts to weaken the autonomy of the SBOHE that is mandated by the ND Constitution. I think that a ruling in favor of the SBOHE on retirement of the nick name would have potential huge ramifications in limiting the micro-management from the asshats in the ND Legislature.

It sure seems to me that young teams struggle on the road and have very inconsistent play. The midmajor team to watch from out here is Weber. I am going to hit one of their games in the next month.

From what I have heard from some friends that are Weber alumni, UVU is a total pushover. You ought to kill them by 30.

The bottom line is if one isolates the nickname issue it is purely a UND problem and a fight between UND fans. NDSU has not a damn thing to do with it. But.......the reality is this situation has been used by the Carlson crew in the Legislature to make a power grab. So, we all have a hell of a stake in this fight......and the fight is not going in a direction that is going to help Higher Ed. These petty damn arguments over whose football team is better will not mean !@#$ if the Legislature starts to micro-manage our schools.
And as could be expected, some of the biggest loudmouths on the board are guys that never even graduated from a SBOHE school.......I give you DaveK and Darell1976......they just don't get what is at stake......because the have no stake in either institution other that going to a few athletic events. Christ!
