  1. Despite my enjoyment of watching the AC twist in the wind during all of this, I have to say that I have some empathy for Beck's position in this. Exactly when will Aanenson get to experience the joy of going through a perp walk, having the media contact you and your family for public comment on your behavior, or just generally be held accountable for your illegal drunken actions? The public embarrassment of getting your ass kicked (particularly with your considerable size/reach advantage) notwithstanding, he seems to be feeling none of the legal accountability one would expect for his role in a violent act in public.
  2. I don't think law enforcement is infallible. I just enjoy watching the AC fans/former players making that argument in a public forum. Americans wear caps/t-shirts with FBI, NYPD, an FDNY on them. The Fargo mayor and deputy mayor are gods and treated like they walk on water for their flood fighting efforts. Police install public cameras with no opposition from city hall. So, they don't like hearing about how, in this latest incident where an AC player fled police, it is actually the police getting it wrong. The guy he put in the hospital is the one that should have been charged (boy you REALLY have to screw things up badly if that is true). Tough argument to make, but again, I enjoy watching folks try and make it.
  3. I realized I should at least give you credit for an acknowledgement that "it looks like this second resisting arrest charge is warranted". (second resisting arrest charge-that's the state of affairs here) Apparently, taking the view that law enforcement is abusing their power is a prerequisite FOR being and AC fan or former player.
  4. The twisted relationship of AC fans/players and law enforcement on display.
  5. Don't assume the video will serve to exonerate or convict. Could just as easily be inconclusive.
  6. Closed circuit to UND Law School Grads: You can build a very lucrative practice by being on retainer with the AC athletic department.
  7. I wonder if it gets tiring being on the side of the argument which believes law enforcement is getting it wrong.
  8. If one of those hockey connections will be paying off, they are certainly taking their sweet time.
  9. What constitutes "fine" for a QB that hasn't played in a game since high school? A freshman that plays .500 ball in this conference is "fine" to me. Some are thinking a conference title shot this year (I'm not saying you feel that way). That seems a lot more than "fine" to me.
  10. Yeah, I don't like my food to touch either
  11. I wouldn't advocate playing a team with the style of play that Oregon brings to the table every year, but I agree more with Ira. If USD can get it done, so can Faison. As for the injury/morale argument? Well, Georgia Southern has had quite a program. I'm not sure you can make a strong case that playing Alabama and Georgia in consecutive years "sunk their season". When the time comes to schedule a game, I think it comes down to looking yourself in the mirror and deciding whether or not you will have the type of team in the next few years that can handle a game like that. Is this group of freshman/sophs that type of team? I don't know.
  12. Boy, you are putting a lot riding on a QB that has never played a meaningful snap for this team.
  13. Well...that escalated quickly
  14. I hope we don't see any Flickertails night at the Ralph.
  15. Big Ten scheduling in the news http://journalstar.com/sports/columnists/sipple/steven-m-sipple-delany-big-ten-ads-should-show-fcs/article_77ed2cc6-97c4-571e-bc2c-5a6ff400c62e.html
  16. The point at which the NCAA sets the "lack of institutional control" bar is pretty high.
  17. We actually provide liaisons for players for about a year after graduation to help our guys mature as adults. It's how we roll.
  18. Given the circumstances this fall, I'd say that's a reasonable expectation.
  19. How many teams passed over the AC for a spot in the NIT? Yep, rpi matters though. If Saul came to the realization of just how little rpi matters, then why can't we? http://www.wday.com/event/article/id/77122/
  20. Don't bother with an explanation like that. Only idiots take performance results from a given year and make sweeping conclusions re: an entire conference. Memories for AC fans are short.
  21. exactly right. The BSC was a quality bird in the hand. Many wished MVFC invite would have been forthcoming, but...wish in one hand and crap in the other...see which one gets filled first.
  22. I love how you just used the term "Douple". There are a ton of "Douples" over there right now. The melt down over there does my heart good.
  23. Matt

    2013 season

That is a massive recruiting advantage over the rest of the conference.

Interesting take here on the changes this past year in FCS from the Youngstown newspaper. http://www.vindy.com/news/2013/apr/14/fcs-mess/?newswatch&buffer_share=adb31&utm_source=buffer
