Hey now, easy on the 8A teams. I'd trade Crookston, EGF, LoW, TRF, and Warroad for any teams out west straight up to make it a better state tourney.

The teams listed in a poll usually don't all play each other, but that doesn't preclude anyone from opining on which is a better team. ND is unique in that virtually every team in the poll will play each other at some point. Saying we can't speculate on one team vs another simply because they haven't played the other undermines the entire poll system. Can we not say UND is better than Niagra simply because they haven't played? Nonsense.

Please don't lump in that mess east of 8th street with Concordia. I don't know the actual gate figures, but Cobber grads in Fargo-Moorhead support Concordia football well.

I asked that very question of someone who coached in both programs. His answer is that there is really very little difference in any of the major youth programs (fargo, moorhead, GF, Roseau, Warroad, Bloomington, etc.) but the difference comes at the bantam/high school level when the kids really decide, not necessarily which sport they will continue to play, but rather which sport will be their #1. There are plenty of Moorhead hockey players who have played other sports (admittedly not the ones in the NHL but you get the point) besides hockey, but when it comes to which camps they go to, or what skills they practice at home, at Moorhead it is hockey, and at South it is football. An assessment which has merit I think.

Agreed. Also, Moorhead also may not be #1 by that time. They play #10 Grand Rapids and #5 Duluth East on consecutive nights on the 15th and 16th. Wait a minute...@ #1 Roseau, Grand Rapids, East, @ #1 South, then @ the Schwans Cup. Their coach may want to have a chat with the schedule maker.

Roger Thomas has been trying to pluck NSIC teams. Trouble is, the NSIC is in a better position to get more of their schools in the postseason (think beyond football) than what's left of the NCC. That's why I don't think the NSIC will take most of the NCC survivors. They plain just don't need to expand if they don't really want to. And consider this-we think it's bad news being a division I independent school, what would it be like to be a division 2 independent? That's scary.

Well I'm sorry if Vermillion doesn't have all the fancy shmansy luxuries that you northerners do like cable tv and the internet. We just try to turn out the best barristers and healers this side of the territory without them!
