  1. I also can't believe the arrogance of those vo tech grads from the University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences when they brag up their 6 wins over FBS schools they cherry picked over the past few years.

Where were they the past 70+ years when schools like Colorado State University have been competing at the highest level of college sports? At least schools like CSU, Wyoming, Minnesota (Yeah...Minnesota), etc have had the balls to put it out there rather than play the Winona States of college athletics.

Yeah, I'll catch some heat from UND fans here (Could care less about the tractor mechanics...) but, it's the truth.

The fact is the men's hockey program has always had the balls to play at the highest level of college athletics.

    So,...

UND 7 The University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences...0

Not intending to defend NDSU but to support our non-hockey athletes over the years. It gets old hearing people run our other teams down in order to elevate the hockey team. It depends on how you look at things. UND plays at the hightest level of college hockey which is true but:
    • only 59 teams play D1 hockey
    • not all of best pro-hopeful hockey players of college age play college hockey. some play in other leagues in Russia, Canada, etc. You can make the case that NCAA hockey is a 2nd level league when looking a the best in the world.
    • 122 teams play FCS football
    • virtually all pro-hopeful football players play college football. Most in FBS but some in FCS too. FCS is the 2nd highest level that football players can compete at, DII is 3rd highest.

  2. Each school should do whatever they want obviously, but in all seriousness, AGS is the biggest collection of FCS fans from multiple schools. Pretty good barometer of the country as far as FCS ball goes.

It is the biggest collection of FCS fans who take the time to post on message boards and like to bash other teams.
  3. Not just Bison fans who think stuff like this is hilarious. Delaware I think it was did a similar thing a couple years ago and got made fun of on AGS.

Well if that's the case we should cancel the promotion. AGS is the gold standard.
  4. First year for us having our own tailgating booth - when you see the Sioux Pride van stop in and visit.

We have had a tailgating spot with friends and family from the Forks for many years. Always have a great time. I will stop by the van when we are in town.
  5. I was at the game and have the program rosters here. The Gophs have 12 from MN on their roster. We have 10 from MN and 4 from ND. We have more local players than they do.

Thier starting lineup of 6 players had 1 MN player on the ice.

  6. I ran in there in the 70's and hated it. I remember collapsing at the end of a race, not sure what the length even was and couldn't catch my breath. It was stifling in there. I liked running in the Crookston shed better than indoors at the Fieldhouse.

I ran there in the 70's too. In the 400 I was chasing a guy and catching him on the parts of the track where you could see us. When we went behind the bleachers he would cut to the infield and shorten the distance he ran and extend his lead again. He beat me to the finish but eventually an official came from behind the bleachers and had him DQ'd.
  7. Doesn't matter what you think the reasons are. The OP referenced the political and PR costs. In any case, that argument turned out to be false. Scheduling NDSU would not have hurt UND's playoff chances.

it is absolutely a fact that it would have hurt our playoff chances when the contract was proposed. SU missed the playoffs the previous year because of a game they won against Montana. The rules changed later.
  8. Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong, but Gene Taylor sent a 4 year contract to Roger Thomas back in 2002, refusing to sign that contract, and thereby ending a 100-year rivalry, certainly would be exactly the sort of thing that could cause PR damage to the UND athletic department. If he had been concerned about PR damage, he most certainly would have signed the contract and played the games.

the reason we didn't want to play is because it would have hurt our chances of making the playoffs even if we kicked your tails - which we were doing regularly back them. You already know that but refuse to accept that fact.
  9. I remember Hak saying that what Blood did was not acceptable in a handshake line. He also said noted that it shouldn't be acceptable to run your mouth in the handshake line either. Both show poor sportsmanship. He certainly inferred that Rau was smarting off because he figured the handshake was sacred and was taking advantage of that.

  10. It is a longer shot for walk-ons but it can be done. I was a non-recruited walk on who came in when school started and ended up starting for 3 years and recieved scholarship money my last 2 years.

  11. Tusler should have way more offers and options with those numbers and accolades. Something is up there. Hadn't heard that about Redmond, but you might be right. Norberg and/or Reyes would be huge gets. Reyes is the best safety on the board remaining, IMO. I'm not sure there was ever a mutual interest for Bobbit. I dont think he ever visited campus? Again, I could be wrong. I actually thought his teammate was better at safety - Kuksa?

Miller is OL, Cary is DL I believe.

I coached against Tusler in basketball when he was younger and saw him play basketball again this year. Not my favorite opponent but certainly has a football attitude that he brings to the basketball court.

I haven't heard anything lately on Mike Redmond. I know his family a little and know he was considering St. Thomas.

  12. Adams was apparently debating over NDSU or UND. Stockwell had offers from UND, NDSU and Montana State. He also had a walkon offer with the Gophers. This was a great day for recruiting. Of course it is always nice to have 2 recruits in the same day chose UND over NDSU. Keep it up. It sure looks like it is going to be an exciting class. Hopefully we can land some more defensive stars.

This can't be true. Nobody has ever chosen UND over SU. It just doesn't happen.

  13. Hooker ended up with 26 and played very well. Probably played better than Jones tonight. He definitely worked harder. Not sure how many assists he had but I would guess 8 or so.He was very good with the ball and had a number of passes where he looked off the defenders and found a teammate alone under the hoop or in the corner.Tyus Jones didn't shoot very well but still had 20 points and at least 10 assists.Fun atmosphere. The gym was packed. John Calipari was there as was coach Ahelegbe from UND.

    Notes from Startriubne:

Highlights included Quinton Hooker seemingly dancing through the Apple Valley defense going right and left for scores kissing the ball off the rim and over contesting defenders. Back the other way Jones zipped passes into minute crevices that the naked eye can’t see (Tyus has Superman vision people) and late in the half Jones attacked alleys for four field goals and a dozen points at the break.

Former Sioux Kevin Wilson's son Malik played for Osseo in the game prior to AV-BC. He is about 6-9 and had 9 points and a number of rebounds.
