Maybe he's got a blockbuster announcement coming...I was hoping for someone 12/12 or 12/20 at the latest. This needs to have wow factor...I don't see it in the current candidate pool outside of Pflugrad. If it was my son coming home from UND without a HC I'd be quite concerned. They're gonna go home not knowing...terrible timing.

Then who in Sam Hell puts CFL in the job description? Edit: Maybe it's a Roger Thomas play from one of the old HR cronies. If it's Schwiegert or a no-name from the applicant list...he doesn't have a network.
-
Screen the candidates daily, conduct the phone interviews daily, abide by the process, and get this thing done...and have a short list made out at all times...it's called contingency planning....this could have been done last Friday.
-
I don't think my post was very clear...I can say I wasn't mocking you. The participants on this forum would have been a more efficient search committee than what is in place now...seriously...
-
Keep going...

All this hand wringing and teeth gnashing before Christmas...and UND is on the bubble. Wake me up in March.

Nothing would surprise me at this point. If that were the case the presser would have been about 10:00 December 11th.

We'd have done this deal already. "Wisdom of Crowds" is a book Faison should read copyright Cratter. Faison should've crowdsourced this hire! I'm kidding!

Depends on the candidate. They could lock down DeWitt for the $150 no problem, for example.
-
Then the process we are being led to believe that is in play here is really not the true process at all. Maybe there's "points deductions" for NCAA infractions that I'm missing? This ridiculous process is making everyone a bit punchy.
-
On football merit alone, he is a "top nine" candidate. That is fact.
-
++ Exactly.

If true (no reason to believe not), the fact that Pflugrad got screened out before the final nine proves that there is much subjectivity to this process. It just discredits the whole thing. Hoping for a great outcome and looking forward to supporting the new guy. FWIW, I think the process should be subjective...but across the board, not only when there is perceived negative history.

Vince, do you think it's going to be someone in the app pile, or a late entrant that we don't know about?
-
The fact that the job description ended up being a Hail Mary pass for Tibesar is another troubling point on a growing list...
-
Jeff Mills is probably in the mix you would think: http://www.golobos.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=26000&ATCLID=209076729 His current salary is doable with the budget we have: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/salaries/ncaaf/assistant/

Reach a verbal agreement, new coach gets the application in as a formality.
-
Inexcusable if true. If it was my son home for the holidays without a coach I'd be quite concerned...

Hiring an EVP at a Fortune 500 is less bureaucratic than this. Good Lord. Interesting that the posting requirement is 20 days external at NDSU, yet Brad Salem's name was leaking out yesterday.
-
I'm curious as to why that would be. I get that he butted heads with administration at MU, which could scare other administrators. From a pure football perspective the guy's qualifications stack up to anyone's.
-
I have not been a Bubba cheerleader during this whole thing, but if that's how it goes there is no question he will pour his heart and soul in this thing and get it turned around. Would be a 10-15+ year hire.

Better times are ahead soon BCS.
-
Then why nine names? Why not cut it to three, five at the very most?
-
Are they really going to interview nine candidates? The information that Siouxjoy shared earlier in the week would seem to indicate so. This is no way to compete for talent in today's marketplace.
