For the Caruso guys (and I think he would've been great here), he would have been a much bigger flight risk after a few years than either one of these guys...

I think you nailed it here. Booster lunch on 12/12 would have been perfect. The notion that nothing is happening during the 15 day window other than fax machines whirring, hard drives grinding, and paperwork stacking up is absurd.
I would bet January of 86 at home against Duluth might have been the biggest...but that was an 8-7 win...that must be the one I'm thinking of...it's all a bit foggy
