At any rate, your lottery example does point out just how much wealth it would take for a single donor to "donate a new on-campus stadium remodel." Very few donors are going to pony up 9-figure donations, no matter what their net worth. I doubt there's a sugar daddy waiting to ride to UND's rescue.

I don't know if that's true or not. If it is true it doesn't say much about UND, or its donors. It implies that UND donors are a bunch of front-running bandwagon jumpers and that UND's administration is passively waiting for its donors to step up. If that money's really out why doesn't UND go get it?

So, UND fans (and donors) are only willing to support their program if guaranteed success? Where is all that support, financial and otherwise, you're talking about? Put up or shut up.

No, you can't get off that easy. UND to FBS was supposed to be a done deal. You can't now say that it was predicated on a "major" donation (whatever that means) all along. The deal is either done or it isn't. So, it's time for you to answer this direct question or STFU: do you really believe that there is a done deal in place to move UND up to FBS or not?

I agree that it might indeed be possible to craft a solid G5 FBS conference from a combination of Big Sky and MVFC schools, and that there might even be a need for such a conference. What I quarrel with is SV's insistence that not only could something like that happen, but that it is, in fact, happening right now.

Personally, I think it's all just a ruse to justify a move to the Summit/MVFC.

I may be stating the obvious, but this indicates that Idaho is making adjustments to its schedule based on its FCS status. It's another indication that the FBS WAC isn't happening.

What's not plausible, or any more than remotely possible, about SV's theories is the idea that the WAC/FBS thing is a done deal, and that it will be announced and take effect soon. Some official, or perhaps a journalist, at one of those 8-16 schools would have let the cat out of the bag long before it got anywhere near that point.

I took as "the only conference options that would cut expenses are...." Status Quo wouldn't address the issue.
