  1. A couple of "Fate of the Nickel Trophy" articles in the Forum and the Herald might raise the heat on UND officials enough to require some action. Hiding the trophy is the worst possible outcome. The people of North Dakota deserve better.
  2. A blowhard on one side and a Bison on the other. Perfect!
  3. UND can't unilaterally decide to keep the trophy. It's not theirs to keep.
  4. Hmm, I thought it was regular season games. In any case, there will be a conference game in 2020. Bring it.
  5. And NDSU won the last game. Donate it or bring it to the game.
  6. Why not? You don't want a new trophy or are you unwilling to give up possession of the old trophy? I would remind you that NDSU is not a party to UND's agreement with the NCAA.
  7. I think there should be a ceremony at halftime of the next game to officially retire the Nickel Trophy and inaugurate a new trophy. Officials of the State Historical Society could be on hand to receive the old trophy for display in Bismarck. Generations of Bison and Sioux players deserve that.
  8. Possession of the Nickel is predicated on making it available for the other team to win the next time the teams play. I'll accept that it only applies to an annual game as an excuse for why it wasn't in the FargoDome in 2015. But, now that there will be an annual game bring it to the game, donate it to the State Historical Society, or lose your rights to it.
  9. I don't see why we couldn't have a new Nickel as you suggest (strike the Canadian reference, of course). The significance of the old trophy has faded anyway. It's been almost eighty years since the Buffalo Nickel was withdrawn from circulation. Very few people have ever seen one, at least not in circulation.
  10. Put it in a glass case in the middle of a room...both sides out.
  11. I don't think the Nickel is an historical item in the same way as team pictures, and other things that can't be changed. It is, for instance, impossible to put the members of a championship team into new uniforms and take pictures. You have to show them in the Sioux uniforms or lose part of your history, However, you couldn't get by wearing old uniforms with the Sioux logo by claiming that they're "historical items." It's just as easy to adopt a new travelling trophy as it is to change uniforms.
  12. A lot of people on this board have been saying the same thing.
  13. But Youngstown has four and they are in the MVFC now.
  14. Just a "sweet lemon" rationalization. The Big Sky was UND's conference, so it had to be the better conference. Evidence be damned.
  15. Has SiouxVolley's head exploded yet?
  16. I'm well aware of that argument. Nevertheless, IMO, the Summit is a better BB league than the Big Sky. Adding UND will further strengthen and stabilize it.
  17. It's an indication of the quality of play. Don't you want to see better teams come to GF? NDSU's game against IPFW last week was great.
  18. And by all reports it's going to be a great ride...
  19. Ford's bringing back the Bronco in 2020.
  20. You 've got it backwards, but you are correct. The logic of the move is inescapable. This is great for the Summit League and the State of North Dakota as well as UND.
  21. Evidence would make his stitching a whole lot stronger. Right now I see nothing more than a remarkable tendency to see patterns in random data ... Apophenia.
  22. From an attendance standpoint, you on care about your home schedule. An individual school does have input into its home schedule, and can, by itself, create a more regular home schedule...if there are an even number of teams. It can't if there is an odd number.
  23. No, the point is that you can't have that kind of regular conference schedule with an odd number of teams. On a given Thursday or Saturday night at least one Summit :League team must not be playing a conference game. Adding UND, or any other team for that matter, will allow a more regular schedule. NDSU moving to the Big Sky creates the same odd-number problem for that conference.
