Of course not every sibling plays together on the same team, I didn't say 100% of them do. It just seems to me that more often than not, they do play for the same team. It all depends on how close the brothers are, how much of a need there is at his position, and how talented the younger brother is. I just thought that might be a factor in how obtainable Kasey Moreland is to UND when his brother plays for SCSU. And shame on you for thinking I'd forget about the object of my affection at Canisius!
-
Besides Moreland needing to get some experience in the USHL, has anyone considered that his brother is a goalie for SCSU? It just seems to me that brothers tend to stick together and go to the same schools, and that Kasey might follow Jake's footsteps, kind of like Ryan Potulny is following Grant's.

Beersong, I saw you guys walking around the arena on Saturday, and gladly joined in the singing of "F the Bulldogs." Welcome. You guys were pretty funny, though, and I like it when other team's fans can come to our arena and have a good time cheering for their team. I've always had good experiences at other arenas I've been to (Minnesota, Duluth, and St. Cloud). I just hope our team can shut the fans up, which unfortunately they didn't do this weekend. I would have come up and said hi, but I figured 9 times out of 10 you were going to be in the bar, and that's too many damn steps to climb up when I can't get into the bar. There was actually a brave UMD fan that sat right in the middle of the student section on Saturday, and when he stood up and cheered after Duluth scored, he was discovered and ridiculed. He showed up again on Sunday (I'm thinking he was friends with some UND students because he was talking to some people), but after being yelled at continuously and hit with a paper airplane, he packed up and left. He seemed to take it well, though, since he was laughing the whole time. Wantagh, my mom came up to the games this weekend, and when I talked to her tonight she laughed and said she heard the students saying some naughty words. I agree though, the only time the students ever seem to get rabid is when the refs start making stupid calls, which unfortunately is more often than not it seems.

The second goal by Duluth I missed because I was watching Prpich on the delayed penalty push a player's head into the ice in frustration. On the replay, though, it looked like maybe an odd man rush with a nice pass to a player cruising down the slot. I wanted to comment quick on yesterday's game, too. Duluth seemed to be playing a bit chippy this weekend, and they were asking for a good old fashioned ass whooping in my opinion. Anderson's crosscheck/boarding to Connelly looked dangerous. On the replay, he brought his stick back with both hands about 6 inches and intentionally shoved Connelly head first into the boards hard. I've never seen Jones get so pissed before, and he didn't even go after Anderson. He was going after Caig like a madman. Today Lundbohm was hit funny and fell shoulder first to the ice, then gets up and punches a player on the bench. There's a lot of anger flowing through this team right now, and I'd hate to be the guy who finally pushes one of them over the edge.

Some thoughts on today's game. The students decided to stand the whole game today and try to get the crowd and team really pumped up since A) we needed the win, B) it's the last regular season home game of the year, and C) we're losing our center ice seats next year anyway. But once the game started, it felt like team had absolutely no energy throughout the entire game, except for the last 5 minutes or so when they momentarily tied it up. Frustrating. It didn't look like they gave it their all, when I thought they would have come out firing on all cylinders. The first shift of the game wasn't very good in my opinion, and it set the tone for the rest of the game. Although the loss certainly wasn't all Josh's fault, Siembida made me VERY nervous the entire game. As someone already said, the first UMD goal he made the first save, but gave up a rebound and lost sight of the puck as he got back up. He was literally turning around in the net looking everywhere for the puck. The first rebound luckily bounced off his pads while it was obvious he had no clue where the puck was, and the 2nd rebound went in. It sucked that Jones fell down on the GWG, but seriously, Siembida was WAY out of the net challenging the shooter (good), but went down WAY too early and the guy just walked right around him and had an open net the size of Titanic to shoot at (bad). I was really hoping to see Ranfranz in net. After tonight, I would be surprised to see Josh play again. After Bochenski tied up the game (gotta love those goals that come just seconds apart), holy cow was the Ralph rocking! Everyone was on their feet and it was LOUD. Too bad it couldn't be like that the whole game! I just remember thinking after we tied up the game, though, that Duluth better not score again in the last few minutes, because I just had a bad feeling. That's the way it's just gone for this team lately. How many f'ing goals of Parise's are going to be disallowed?! I think it's about 5 disallowed goals, and they all happened at home. It's starting to get ridiculous, the kid should have almost 30 goals by now. There are two I remember distinctly from earlier in the season. One where Anderson got behind on the play when Parise went in on a breakaway, and Anderson didn't see the puck go in and waved it off. The replay clearly showed him scoring. The other is when Bochenski got a penalty right as Parise scored, and it was waved off. I think there was another one too that I can't remember, then the 2 today where Bochenksi had a weak high stick called on him when he passed to Parise who scored, and the other one which apparently hit the pipe but I couldn't see. All I could think about when the buzzer sounded at the end of the game was that we should have had 3 goals, because Bochenski's stick didn't look like it came above his waist from where I was sitting. Congrats to the 3 seniors who were honored before the game today. What a crappy way to end the regular season at home, but I know this team is better than what their record shows for the past month or 2. Let's send these hard working seniors out on a high note, and start winning games from here on out!!

I'll take door #4, Bob.
-
Yeah, it's just one that's told around campfires while eating s'mores and singing kumbaya.
-
Pricpric? I think you spelled 3 players names right out of 9. Did you take over for Siouxrock?
-
That's no problem, I actually just sent you an e-mail today. I plan on collecting the money at the rink that Sunday, I just wanted people's names as some sort of reassurance that I would get reimbursed. I'll add you to the list. 747 Guy, Nathan, morely, Mory00, brianv, Brian's friend, Wantagh, Wantagh's friend, and Bacardio.
-
I'm with you Diggler. My books almost cost $1000 for just this semester, I don't think I can afford WJT tickets when they're almost $500. It sucks. Now I'm thinking I might just see if I can volunteer for the tournament and hope to catch bits of hockey games.
-
Just to let you know, I've heard back from 8 people about the game. I've e-mailed a couple other who showed interest in playing, and I'm still waiting to hear back if the goalie can still make it. Here is the team so far: 747 Guy, Nathan, morely, Mory00, brianv, Brian's friend, Wantagh, and Wantagh's friend.

Because as Blais said on the Coach's Show, the team is on edge. One questionable move by an opposing player, and these guys could snap. However, all of that charge and energy could also be transferred in a more productive manner i.e. scoring goals and fast paced hockey with good, clean, hard checks. The team has to be excited to be back in their own rink, and after the lumps they've taken this past month, it wouldn't surprise me to see a blowout game. Not that I'm predicting one, but it wouldn't surprise me. Besides Yane, didn't your mom ever tell you that boys are different from girls? Girls talk behind each other's backs, boys hit each other.

There is also the Holiday Inn (bar included), EconoLodge, Super 8, and Roadking Inn close by. They're all clustered on the street where I live, on N. 43rd St. right off Highway 2.
-
You are actually staying right down the street from where I live. My suggestion is to park in the dirt parking lot by the student entrance if you drive to the arena. You enter it from 6th Ave., which is what you would drive down to get to the arena, and it's right next to a fraternity. I always park there since it's pretty close to the student doors, and as far as I know there are always spots open. Of course, you would probably have to walk around to the front of the building to get in. You could probably walk there if you really wanted to, but it wouldn't very fun. I'd say it's somewhere between 10-15 blocks? I'm guessing. If you're looking for stuff close by, Dagwood's, Sugars (bar at the Holiday Inn), Sensations (dance club), and the Campus Liquor Store are all a hop, skip, and a jump away from your hotel, and probably the nearest thing to REA. I will have no opinion of these places for another 2 months though. There are always a few empty seats here and there if you want to try and get a seat after the game starts, but you won't find 8 seats together, except for maybe at the very top. Have fun!

I didn't get any e-mails after bertibm said for sure he could get ice on Sunday the 23rd, except from Nathan. I don't mind organizing the Sioux team, but I would like people's real names and addresses if I am expected to send him $120 to reserve the ice. Just to make sure I get reimbursed. So Nathan, Wantagh, and Fire Chartreuse Musky Killer can make it for sure on Sunday. Please send me your info, and everybody else who plans on playing in the game.
-
Nathan and Fire Chartreuse Musky Killer are the only 2 who have confirmed. I'm still waiting to hear from the rest.
-
Wow, either you have some inside connections, or else you can pick my numbers for a Powerball ticket, because I don't think anyone else on this board would have picked Palmo to play on the first line. Good guess! (Blais just mentioned on the pre-game show that Palmiscino will play with Parise and Bochenski. They didn't take Palmo last week to Denver because they didn't want him to travel and not play, when he would be better off skating on his own and going to classes. He was out for three weeks after his concussion, then it took another three weeks to get back into shape. He's been working hard, and now he's getting a chance to play with two of the best players in college hockey because he can see hockey and make plays. Everyone else they have tried on that line, for some reason or another, just isn't getting the puck to Bochenski and Parise, or popping it in themselves, and they need that line to score.) Good luck to Tyler! I don't believe I've ever seen him anywhere near the 1st line before.
-
Hey, you do what you gotta do to ruffle the other team's feathers.
-
What? You don't like it when the goalies join the offensive rush and leave the net wide open?
-
That interview with Turco was funny! Thanks for posting the link.
-
Hopper, Hopper's friend (goalie), WildSioux, brianvf and his friend, Wantagh, Bacardio, 747Guy, morley, Mory00, Nathan, and Fire Chartreuse Musky Killer These are the people who said they wanted to play, and it looks like there are 11 players and 1 goalie. I guess e-mail me if you can commit to playing on March 23rd at nimiller@hotmail.com.
-
Oh boy. How old are we again? Sheesh!
-
Did Massen ever play on the 1st line, or has he just played with them on the PP? I can't remember. There was also that game in MN when Parise and Bochenski were split up for 2 periods.
-
Ditto to all of the above. That was a nice article about Kevin, and it makes me realize even more how much I'll miss watching the seniors from this team.
