  1. Chem Eng, Aero Eng, Geo Eng, Bio/Med Eng at UND. ECE, CIE, ME and Arch. at NDSU. Closure is a dream. I think the realistic route is to get Mayville and Valley City turned into junior colleges.
  2. This is true. But why does UND need ECE, CIE and ME depts.? ChemE would fit nicely in with NDSU's polymers/coatings division in ME. Regardless of why we started one, we can't go back on that because we're invested in the downtown campus. Why not have auronautical engineering at UND and the rest of the engineering depts. at NDSU?
  3. Probably. But as I said with business, we're too invested in pharmacy to let that one go. So what do you say, nursing for E&A straight up?
  4. We can't turn back on business now. We're invested in the downtown campus. But I'll give you nursing if you give us engineering and architecture. Nursing belongs with the medical school. I know the constitution of ND calls for a school of mines in Grand Forks, but precedent exists in other dual public flagship states to have the liberal arts/medical/law university not have an engineering dept and the A&M university have one. Off hand, the Universities of Montana and South Dakota have no engineering depts while MSU and SDSU do. As well, larger state schools like the U of Oregon and the U of Indiana have no engineering dept while Or St and Purdue do.
  5. Why does it always have to be UND vs. NDSU. Why does it always have to be NDSU vs. UND. Why can't the two research universities of the great state of North Dakota work together to educate the great students in the many disciplines that both schools excel at?
  6. Dave! No worries, I got 50 yard line seat waiting for the 2009 NDSU/UND game a the Fargodome with your name on it! I'll drag you there if I have to!
  7. How about a game at the Fargodome either Sept 13th or Sept 27th? I doubt we'd give you much of a guarantee, probably none. Just a game, take it or leave it.
  8. Who is the 7th confirmed game, then?
  9. You have 6 confirmed games with USD to be announced. Who are the other 3 contracts? Saint Cloud, SE Louisiana, and who else?
  10. Hard to fault anyone who doesn't play in all star games. Why risk the injury? For the same reason I think the NFL pro-bowl should be abolished. Too much risk.
  11. Yeah but Oklahoma/Texas is one of the biggest games in the nation. When you get a good rivalry, esp in football, people will take the time to travel for it.
  12. If you guys can make a schedule of all DI teams, more power to you. There's no shame in having NAIA and DII on the schedule for your first reclassifying year, though.
  13. The NDSU/SDSU partnership has helped NDSU. It was rumored that the Gateway only wanted SDSU but that the Jacks wouldn't budge on taking NDSU with them. No idea if that's true or not, but if so it definately helped out. The last couple marker games as well have finally had that big time rivalry feeling (esp since they beat us last season ). I think it would be good for not only UND/USD to get a rivalry going, but for the whole Dakota 4 to have a rivalry. Something like a 4 way "Dakota Cup" or something like that for the 4 schools to compete in shared sports sort've like what NM and NMSU do here: http://www.nmstatesports.com/ViewArticle.d...CRIBER_CONTENT=
  14. Obviously enrollment, since he made a comment about enrollment. Stanford needs to be DI because they play DI football. DU can do whatever DU wants to do. They might find themselves out of the Sun Belt, though, and without a conference (unless they want to stoop down to the Big Sky).
  15. He's probably referring to the small group of NDSU fans who think that if they pretend to hate UND and the rivalry that they were apart of and went to every single game of that they can make it go away forever. The sad, hypocritical thing is that when the rivalry starts up again in 2009, they'll all be at the game. Bisonator I know will have a front row seat.
  16. The largest private university in the nation is DIII.
  17. If you recall it all started with speculating where Texas State would go when they move to FBS. 14 members seems big for the Sun Belt. But I think the SB would rather have TSU than Denver. I was merely pointing out that DU could drop down to DIII and maintain a nationally competitive DI hockey team like CC does. That assumes they would qualify for the play up scholarship exemption that you linked to. It's always about money. I just don't see how all the travel they do for the Sun Belt is worth being DI. Their image sport, hockey, is always going to be DI, regardless where the rest of the AD is.
  18. Dayton used to play down in football at the DIII level despite having a DI basketball team. A bunch of DIII schools got together and decided that Dayton shouldn't be allowed to play football at the DIII level because they were able to take revenue that their DI basketball program pulled in and then spend it on football, giving them an unfair advantage. The NCAA agreed and thus banned the practice of playing down in football. IE, if you have DI basketball you must have DI football and vice versa. And thus the Pioneer football league was formed for newly DI non scholarship football teams. I meant to imply that Denver having a DI hockey team but a DIII athletic department would not result in this phenomenon as it current does not happen at Colorado College.
  19. Correct. Therefore, Denver is spending all the money required to be DI just so that their lacrosse team can be DI rather than DIII. Which is a complete waste of money considering they'll never be a national contender in DI lacrosse.
  20. The only reason to ever move to DI is for football or basketball. Every single other sport can simply be played up, if your team is really that good, or there only exists a single division that you play in anyway. Denver staying DI so their basketball teams can be DI is a joke and is an waste of money. They'll never do anything in basketball. Everyone knows that DU is about hockey.
  21. I have a hard time believing that what little money gets spread around from a tournament like the frozen four would more than offset the money it takes to keep DU's AD DI rather than DIII.
  22. But theres no reason that a DI hockey school expressing interest in moving the rest of the AD to DIII couldn't qualify for the exemption. There's very few DI hockey schools that could benefit from such a move like Denver could. It's not like we'd be looking at a Dayton situation for hockey.
  23. If Denver could continue offering the full amount of hockey scholarships while having a DIII classification, then I see no reason why having a DI classification benefits them. They'd continue having WCHA hockey like they always have had and they'd continue being allowed to participate in the singular NCAA skiing championship.
  24. The only claim I've made is that the total number of ND high school players competiting at the highest level of FCS would be greater with both NDSU and UND in the Gateway rather than only NDSU in the Gateway. As a matter of fact, 6 players, the number of ND high school players signed by NDSU and UND, is greater than 2 players, the number of ND high school players signed by only NDSU. If you can't comprehend that statement of fact, then I'm not sure what else I can say to make you understand.
  25. Even if both schools don't sign many ND high school players, having both schools at the highest level of FCS will still allow the most possible ND high school players the opportunity to play at the highest level of FCS. IE, 6 > 2.
