Colorado and Iowa also have legislation to force the two state schools to play each other. New Mexico, Utah and South Carolina are some other states where the big state schools play each other every year even though they are in different conferences (not sure if there is state legislation or not). So the precedent is most certainly there. I don't mind the idea. I would rather see UND on the 09 schedule than the 2012 schedule.

Yeah that sounds probably about right to "bury the hatchet" among most die hard NDSU fans. There are some who will piss and moan and threaten not to come to games, but they'll be there.

Well I'm saying that this wouldn't really count as a road game. So you'd still have 6 road games. I think you'll want to keep both Southland road games. Southland has been very good about scheduling the Dakota State schools in transition.

Fargo ND is basically a home game for UND fans. They can either drive <1 hour on the interstate or watch the game on statewide TV. Would you rather play NDSU in the Fargodome or have Sioux Falls come to the Alerus?

They should be playing every year if they're going to restart the series.

Not to mention that North Dakota, South Dakota and Alaska were the only states left whose flagship public universities were not DI.

The moratorium is 4 years. UND made the last cut for avoiding it. So I don't think Central could transition to DI in 2012-13. They seem to be very identical school to Eastern Wash. The main difference being market, with EWU in theory being able to provide Spokane to the conf. Central is 110 miles from Seattle.

Pensacola is a nice little growing market that could support a new FCS team. They're isolated by geography from the rest of Florida. They could have a nice rivalry with the U of South Alabama, an hour away in Mobile.

Not in the next 10 years. But it's foolish not cover all your bases in case something unforseen happens.

NDSU is a DI school and UND is transitioning from being a DII school to being a DI school. That's all that can possibly be said.

Maybe it's just me, but I read it as "We are D1 We are North Dakota". And FYI, it's DI, not D1. But it's not like the general population knows or cares.

What I mean is if you add up the starters lost (offense) and the returning starters (offense), you have 10 players. Same for the defense. IE, who is the 2nd WR for offense and who is the 3rd DL for defense? You had starters for those positions last year, where are they now?

Shouldn't the returning/lost sections add up to 11 for both the offense and defense?

Thanks for the info Bin! Wat's the deal with Houston Baptist? I see they were DI before? Then they dropped down to NAIA? What gives? Is football in their future? I realize Houston already has Rice, UHouston and TxSo in the city (all close to each other as well, I believe).

I believe the rule is that if the team wins the largest championship they are eligible for, they get a ring. The GW championship was the largest championship they were eligible for that season.
