  1. I wouldn't care if he had to pay in civil court, but there should be no crime here above a misdemeanor. Felony assult would be with a weapon.
  2. All signs seem to be guaranteeing a football game in 2012. Taylor has more or less sold himself on 2012 in order to avoid having to schedule UND in 2009-11. And the great news is that other sports could be playing in 2010.
  3. Yes, no, no. Seriously, Arizona is going to be cutting major dollars from somewhere. It could well be colleges. I do think that NAU will have to suspend its football program and ask for a waiver from the NCAA. If they get it, then I think the Big Sky will let them stay in the league until they get football back. Expansion to the Dakotas has already been ruled out.
  4. Having hockey at the UP would not be worth it. Gotta be in the dome or in the new dome arena if we're going to do it. I only bring it up because the arena is going to be built in the next few years so if it's going to have hockey we need to plan for that now and the fact that this opportunity to get into the WCHA is probably not going to be around that long. WCHA membership will be pretty stable after they add Bemidji. Unless the Big 10 gets hockey.
  5. As weird as this may sound initially, this may be NDSU's best chance all time to join the WCHA. Consider: - NDSU has leverage over UND to get their vote - WCHA is now expanding and will probably take someone else with Bemidji - New Fargodome arena will likely be built to host ice events If the NDSU admin haven't at least had a 2 hr discussion on the pros/cons since the WCHA has opened the doors for expansion, then they haven't been doing their job IMO.
  6. I'm also of the opinion that people will come watch a good show -- no matter what type of show it is -- if it's in a good facility. The Fargodome is a good facility and the people of Fargo more or less come out for events in the Dome.
  7. The BSA is not only ugly and has bad sight lines, but it's freakin cold in there. Horrible facility for all that use it with perhaps the exception of wrestling. I wish they would bulldoze the damn thing and build something NDSU athletes deserve.
  8. I especially like the part where Taylor says "NDSU wants to play UND".
  9. Punching people is a felony? What a joke.
  10. Why wouldn't you be? USD is (playing Akron). NDSU played Minesota in 2006 (3rd year). FBS schools can only count the game toward bowl eligibility if the FCS team meets some scholarship requirement.
  11. Hopefully they could get into the RMAC. Otherwise, beg the NCAA for a waiver like Tulane and U New Orleans got (and still take advantage of).
  12. Yep. I'm thinking the Big Sky will let them drop football and stay in the Sky for now. They'll have to work to get it back. This actually gives the Sky an excuse to add another all sports member as they would then have 9 football 10 basketball. SUU sounds like a great travel partner in bbal for NAU. Sac and Portland alone will not allow UND into the Sky, not even worth wasting time thinking about it.
  13. http://www.idahostatesman.com/244/story/649393.html I guess Arizona cut a large amount of state financial support for college athletics and NAU may not be able to keep the football team. With NAU out of the Big Sky, does this open the door for Southern Utah?
  14. Sounds good in theory. In practice, they'll just introduce new fees. School is an expensive business these days. You either need more students or you need more money out of each student.
  15. I see that you have never worked security.
  16. My point was that your post was an anti-DI, anti-scheduling NDSU in football post circa 2003/04 when the series was canceled. You're too late because UND is already moving to DI and is already going to be scheduling NDSU. And you made some weird point about Fargo being in the shadow of Minneapolis, which I could only assume was about NDSU trying to get on Minnesota's schedule in as many sports as possible. To which, UND will most definitely be trying to schedule Minnesota in as many sports as possible, including football.
  17. You're too late. UND already moved to DI. UND will be playing games against NDSU in a few years. UND will be playing Minnesota in as many sports as they can schedule. It's 2009, not 2003.
  18. According to Taylor in today's Forum he's looking for a home/home for 2010/2011 to fill out the schedule with Minnesota and Geo Southern already scheduled for 2011. Meaning a home game in 2011 and an away game in 2010. So that means we could schedule UND for a game in Fargo in 09 and then sign a home/home with NDSU traveling to Grand Forks in 2010 and UND coming back to Fargo in 2011. Then by 2012 with UND transition over, MVFC will have invited them into the conference by then.
  19. I've already said it, to be in the exact same situation as CC. Denver could play up to DI in hockey and still participate in the skiing championship. What other DI sports matter? You guys suck at basketball and no one cares -- it's not hockey.
  20. 2012 is open on the U of M schedule. If they schedule UND then they will play the dakota 4 all right in a row in 4 years.
  21. Exceptions to rules can and will be made. The NCAA is a group of college presidents who all know each other. What's a few ice hockey scholarships among friends? We're not talking about letting a convicted murderer walk free, here.
  22. Clearly I never said that DU would drop down to DIII in hockey. That is out of the question. The entire point was to get into the exact same situation that Colorado College is in.
  23. It's been what, a day since the bill was announced, and already this is the most overused clich
  24. Regarding the state's management of the schools: there is no such slippery slope as you're trying to make us believe. The involvement would be limited exactly to forcing the rivalry game. That's it. Nothing more. And there is great precedent already set in other states as I already posted. There is no possible argument against the state's involvement in this issue.
  25. I agree fully. If UND isn't on NDSU's schedule every year starting by 2012, then the state will have to force them until UND gets into the MVFC.
