  1. Lack of your counter-argument noted.
  2. I already countered that one. UND has been telling kids for the last few years that the move to DI is a done deal and that more scholarship dollars will be on the way. They might not be able to offer as much up front as NDSU on a few kids (how many have they gone head-to-head over anyway?) but they will be able to take care of them later on when they are contributing.
  3. Oh I was WAY off. Come on. There is no significant advantage.
  4. I would be surprised if UND wasn't at 63 for this season. You have to average 56.7 scholarships over a three year period (including the upcoming season) to allow an FBS school to count you as a win toward bowl eligibility. And no doubt UND has been telling kids that "more money is coming" on the recruit trail the past few years. So there really is no more scholarship "advantage" for NDSU over UND. It's level as it's going to get in 09! Bring it on!
  5. Both teams are at 63 scholarships in 09 IIRC.
  6. NDSU still hasn't annouced a game on the 12th. As I already pointed out SDSU went 4 home games before. THe option is not impossible, at least.
  7. Of the NDHSAA sports: Baseball - would be NDSU only if UND drops M bball - NDSU/UND M xc - NDSU/UND M golf - NDSU/UND M hockey - UND only M soccer - none M swimming - UND only M tennis - UND only M track - NDSU/UND Football - NDSU/UND W bbal - NDSU/UND W xc - NDSU/UND W golf - NDSU/UND W hockey - UND only W soccer - NDSU/UND Softball (first NDHSAA sponsered season spring 09) - NDSU/UND W swimming - UND only W tennis - UND only W track - NDSU/UND Gymnastics - none Volleyball - NDSU/UND Wrestling - NDSU only Not sure how many ND high school athletes are participating in gymnastics and M soccer, but it seems like a shame that they couldn't go to NDSU or UND to play at the highest level in those sports.
  8. You're wasting your time. He's emotionally invested in keeping North Dakota a one college hockey team state, even at the cost of the WCHA.
  9. But you are emotionally (and financially?) invested in keeping the new Fargodome arena from having hockey capabilities, even though it would not alter the basketball watching experience in the slightest, as I have proven with photos of the lower levels of NBA arenas that have both bball and hockey capabilities. The Fargodome arena could very realistically be built as nothing more than a lower level of an NBA arena. You even purposefully forget to mention that as a possibility here. It's on the table and I could care less if that pisses you off. Good.
  10. There is room, the WCHA will expand to 12. You even said so yourself. UAH will probably fold their program with this economy. The CCHA is not going to be that much cheaper.
  11. If they would've added hockey capability to the Fargodome, we probably wouldn't be talking about this. But sans that, NDSU really didn't have anywhere to play. There is the UP arena now, but ideally when the new Fargodome arena gets built it will have hockey capability. On campus is the way to go.
  12. I don't know if you realized this, but there are over 300 DI basketball teams in 31 auto-bid conferences. You can't play everyone every season. So why are you trying to use that as an excuse to hold back new membership?
  13. SDSU 2004 schedule: http://www.gojacks.com/SportSelect.dbml?SP...p;Q_SEASON=2004 SDSU had 4 home - 7 away in a transition year. Precedent set for a transition team. *check* FCS away game opportunity for UND vs. a long time rival and a close game for fans to travel to *check* Game scheduled *pending*
  14. They wouldn't implement a team just because I think it's a good idea. There would be a feasability study, at a minimum. So you're against adding new hockey programs in the NCAA right now? Why? I thought you wanted the sport to grow? Seems to me that if there's room in the WCHA for Bemidji, there's room for NDSU. Don't bring up the "no history" non-argument, I already slam dunked that one.
  15. NDSU was the only DI football team in the state but UND moved up to DI. So I think getting WCHA hockey at NDSU would even things up.
  16. As in other cases, this would be a case of supply creating demand. The people of Fargo just don't realize what they would be missing out on. I'm also having a hard time understanding why you are so emotionally invested in preventing even a discussion of NDSU getting a hockey team. Please help me to understand why such an idea makes you so insecure?
  17. I think NDSU would get plenty of support for a men's WCHA team. Not everyone wants to drive an hour each way up to Grand Forks, esp. with unpredictable winter weather.
  18. SDSU did somethine similar a couple years ago IIRC. 4 home games one year then 6 or 7 the next year.
  19. Eventually all 4 of the upper midwest FCS domes (Alerus, Fardodome, Dakotadome and UNI-Dome) will have fieldturf. NAU is an example of how it can be installed without taking away any functionality from the facility.
  20. We're still waiting on Montana State to return from playing in Bozeman in 05. And Sac was one of the reasons NDSU did not get into the Big Sky. I kinda doubt it will happen. I'm thinking we're going to pay a guarantee to get Morgan State.
  21. The other thing to consider is that if you play an away game in Hawaii or Alaska the NCAA will let you play an extra game.
  22. It would be incredible selfish for the head coach to rule out a one game deal, if he even had such authority. As I said, it's one less game the AD has to schedule and it's an easy game to make for the fans.
