I seem to recall Kupchella making some reference to out-of-court talks in another article. It may be referencing the same thing.

No. I'm far enough down south to know Famous Dave's isn't real barbecue.

Grew up in Fargo, and spent seven years in GF going to UND for two degrees. The only difference between the two cities is their population size. Moreover, both have much more going for them than comparable cities in the south and northeast.

It's nice to see Smokin' Joe's apologists on The Fraud are on the job at last. He must have made a late-night call from "the bunker".

Okay, I've played hockey in the past, and have decided to get off my butt and try inline skating. It's not too bad, and so far the only thing I've damaged is my pride when my butt hits the pavement, and I'm currently using a pair of cheapo skates, I think they're an off-brand of Rollerblade. I'm enjoying the activity and am looking to upgrade the skates, and thinking fit is probably more important as I gain more confidence and skill. I've always worn hockey skates about a size or so smaller than my shoe size, but that doesn't seem to work for me with inline skates. So I figure I'll probably go closer to my normal shoe size. Any thoughts on any particular brands for wider feet? I'm looking at K2, Salomon, Rollerblade (the real thing) and Bauer. Mucho thanks.

True. Most "blue chip" recruits go to UND because it's a good way to get into the pros, and the benefits tend to payoff when they do leave. I think anybody who gets cut, regardless of their draft status, hype, etc., deserves it, really. I can't imagine Blais or Hakstol being so dumb as to waste time and money recruiting people they didn't think would make the team and would not play to stay there.

I think Montana State will be under pressure to hire a "name" coach of some sort who has a reputation/experience for running a clean, solid program either at the college or pro ranks. As such, I really doubt you'll see any candidates from the Vikings or Bengals any time soon.

I think this really shows how delusional and paranoid Chapman can be. He was probably hiding out in the basement over the weekend muttering "They're all out to get me, man!". Oh wait, here's a photo:

People are so cute when they think they have a right to privacy. If you think your personal data is secure, you may want to see what private brokers like ChoicePoint gather about you. Link

Considering how much the NC$$ makes off licensing, I'm not sure why the name/logo would be an issue for a legitimate card. That said, maybe we should start bidding in .01 increments.

Did they mention the raft of investigations and litigation surrounding systemic racism and anti-Semitism, as well as all of the money they paid out, during his tenure? I figure his role in this probably makes him an "expert" at deflecting blame to other schools. As a practical matter, SCCC has always been a poor excuse for a school. Rotten facilities, marginal faculty and a student body that takes up the entire "short bus". Trot out UND's name/logo to mask your own deficiencies. It's like Minnesota's version of 'su.

I think, and have thought, UND's antitrust claims were always a bit flimsy to begin with, especially under the NoDak statute. To avoid Summary Judgment, and it's spelled j-u-d-g-m-e-n-t Mr. Marks, UND will need to show there are facts in dispute that a jury will need to rectify. I presume in any counter-filing, UND will try to show some economic impact or harm as a result of diminished competition. I'm not sure how they can do that, but I presume they will have already thought about that. I wouldn't be surprised if Jahnke sides with the NC$$ on this one, but it's not necessarily fatal to the rest of UND's claims, and may help focus on issues easier for a jury to digest.

I thought Erdrich has been trolling around Minneapolis for the past 10-15 years or so. So, I doubt she has any real connection to NoDak or UND. Moreover, her divorce proceedings from Michael Dorris, and some of the accusations against her by her kid, make me wonder why UND would even bother giving her the honor.

This thread has what to do about Sioux hockey?

Along the same lines, there was a Page 1 article in The Wall Street Journal earlier this week about how the current ownership-Wirz family has decimated the Blackhawks franchise and pi$$ed of legions of fans over the years, and making little headway in getting back on track. It's a paid article now, but it should be freely available next week or so.

My understanding is that alot of these letters are probably already in the public domain, or are subject to NoDak's open-records laws. This is nothing more than an overreaching discovery request, which is typical in cases like this.

Yeah, but they'd have tons of "street cred" amongst the murderers, rapists, thieves, etc.

I prefer the double-barrel side-by-side Savage myself for quail and grouse hunting due to its quicker firing ability. And I keep a shorter-barrel (20") version around the house for "pests". Along the same note, my brother in law, after spending time "advising" in the mideast, selected a short-barrel 20 gauge single shot with #4 shot for his house. It can be operated by him or my small frame sister quickly, and the shot probably won't pentrate walls to possibly harm others in the house, including their kids. And he also keeps a Springfield .45 auto "just in case".

I wouldn't take it too seriously. Most of the comments were scrawled by socially inept slobs who are angry good looking women never talk to them ... well, unless the women are made of latex or plastic. As for the cheerleaders, I could really care less if they show up to games, but I don't see this is a major issue for the team.

Sig Arms P226 .40 with a customized trigger. Oh, and semi-jacketed hollow points in all three mags, except for practice then I use wadcutters. Now, stay out of my beer!!!

If I didn't send money to the lit fund, I'd probably just "waste" it on booze and women ...

The last time I had Hamm's "beer" was when I was at UND. We started drinking early on a Friday before a gophers game, went to Wilkerson for some "seafood splatter", and I left about a 10 foot long trail of Hamms and Wilkerson in the snow behind Chester Fritz Library. Didn't even break stride. /good times
