So if you expect Oshie, Toews and Duncan to each have around 20 goals and you are predicting the team will score 175 goals in total, who is going to score the other 105 goals?

I really like Sioux Football but unfortunately quite a distance from GF so it is hard to follow the program other than info on the web. What is a realistic record for them this season and chances of post-season play?

I made a reservation shortly after Milwaukee when the hotels in St. Louis were doing a discount for the Frozen Four tourney. Regardless if the Sioux are there or not, we will be going as it will be a great time even if they are not there. If they are, it will be an AWESOME time.

I agree that this has been discussed to death but here is my two cents (or maybe less) - I think it only is a benefit to the competiveness of North Dakota hockey when we see the likes of South and Grafton and others competing head to head with the GF schools and holding their own. I grew up in GF and played hockey in GF and probably biased towards the GF program but more importantly I want to see growth within the hockey in ND and I think that is exactly what we are seeing. I think it is great that a team from ND can play to the level of a top Minnesota team. In fact, didn't South beat Moorhead last year? So the question I ask rather than belittle each others programs, should we not be enthusiastic of the progress ND hockey is making. I no longer live in ND but from my perspective we have closed the gap bertween the ND and Minnesota quality gap. Considering that Minesota arguably is the best state for high school hockey, I believe that is quite the accomplishment.

I was at the championship USHL game 7 where Okposo was by far the best player on the ice. He is the real deal and will be a thorn in the Sioux's side for a year or so. I think it is a testament to the quality of the WCHA in getting the very best talent and being the best conference in the country.

With that being said, who is most likely to have a break-out year? I think that Kaip certainly showed improvement late in the year and Porter has alway been one that looks to be a playmaker but due to a variety of circumstances has yet to be able to do that. Duncan should continue where he left off as he is just a good playmaker. Unknowns in my mind are Kozek, Watkins and Miller. I was impressed last year when Miller got the chance he really showed some promise. What are other folks thoughts as to who will have a "break-out" year?

The Herald lists Aaron Marvin as committed to the Sioux in an article in today's paper. Is this something new or have I been asleep at the wheel?

I have always wondered that if we had no Native American nicknames and still had the Cowboys, the Roughriders, the Patriots, the Vikings etc...that the politically correct crowd of today would be arguing that it is discriminatory that we have no nicknames that represent the Native American culture.

So I guess I am living in denial if I think Parise is not leaving......

Buckysieve, you are obviously passionate about Gopher hockey so I have to ask you a serious question. Doesn't it irritate you that when the Gophers got it handed to them by the Badgers in the 3rd place game of the Final Five, the don's response was "the last time I checked they don't hand out a trophy for the 3rd place game"? I respect a program that goes out and plays to the best of their ability on any given night regardless of who is watching or what is on the line and not make excuses if things don't work out as planned. A UND defensemen said last year something to the effect that every time he put the Sioux jersey on, it meant something regardless of what was on the line. I guess that is why I so dislike the Gophers under the don's reign because it does matter and they should have gone out and beat the Badgers to get on a roll into the NCAA's. Instead, one week later, one of the most talented teams on-paper was done for the year at the hands of HC. I would still be incensed if I were a Gopher fan as I would surely expect more than that.

And when it really mattered what happened? In Columbus Irmen looked like the beaten-up red-headed step-child while Potulny did his best impersonation of the Invisible Man. They had their chance to redeem themselves this year by winning the West regional and lost to Holy Cross. Had they played ND, my prediction would have been a another Sioux win but I guess we will never know on that one as your boys lost to HC.
