True, but ND high school graduations are in May....some of them if they have family or friends already on the team, could start working out in June.

technically it wasn't the NCAA and the University. It was the NCAA and the ND State Board of Higher Ed acting on the behalf of UND. Which either way, the Summit does not overrule the NCAA. Either way, if they decide to have a vote at the meeting on April 6th, they could theoretically hold the vote before June. I am not sure about this, but if they hold a vote and all that we are waiting on is the 30 year thing imposed by the SBoHE...could the Summit League say that "ok, you have gotten what the NCAA wanted and this should be over with" and admit us?

so how would that work? Seeds 11 and 12 would be done? and who would get the bye then? the top four? Which we dont really get a say in this, the WCHA has already decided how the Final Five will work next year.

Just because I was interested, I looked this up. If you go 36 games in the regular season, the first 18 games count as the first half of the season and when they fall all depends on the season. The only exception to this is when we played Michigan State for the HOF game (Fall of 2007), for some odd reason I only counted 35 games in the regular season that year. Hak's First Half Records as Coach using the first 18 games: 04-05: 10-6-2 05-06: 10-7-1 06-07: 7-10-1 07-08: 9-8-1 08-09: 9-8-1 09-10: 9-6-3 Now, as Sioux fans we consistently complain about our teams slow starts under Hak...but with the exception of one year, we have had winning records to start the season. 06-07 was the year that Tech swept us at home to close out the first half and was the year of the DOT line. Just saying?

I agree that we are getting a little ahead of ourselves. I do want to point out two things though. 1. Cary Eades is not an Assistant Coach. That job title goes to Dane Jackson. Cary Eades has the job title of Associate Head Coach, which if I understand correctly...is above an assistant coach. Interestly enough, Hak switched back and forth between Assistant and Associate under Blais, but was listed as Associate in 2003-2004. 2. Brad Berry already had the job that Eades now holds...He was the Associate Head Coach at UND from 2004-2006 before leaving to go to the Moose. He left the Moose for personal reasons and I am not sure if he wants another coaching job since he started the Hockey Academy and I believe is a recruiter for an NHL team (not sure which one). Oh, sorry I thought of a third thing. I am not sure where this thing came about that we are a defensively minded team. I don't recall if it was last year or the year before, but we had people complaining that we were too offensively minded and that we hadn't been defensively minded since Berry left. It kinda seems like we can't make up our minds here.

No, the name is remaining the same. the Five part is now going to refer to the number of games, NOT the number of teams.

12 teams, 6 series...same way that it worked this year....the only thing that is changing is the Final Five. The five is now refering to the number of games and not the teams. Thursday - 2 games Friday - 2 games Saturday - 1 game

It shouldn't since it is a tournament. And not to be picky, but both the Final Five and the Frozen Four are in St. Paul, not Minneapolis. Sorry, but it is slightly frustrating when you tell people that you live in St Paul and they are like, "so you live in Minneapolis".

How do you know that Eades would be a terrible head coach? Wouldn't we know that for sure when he has been a head coach for our team? Eades had two years as a head coach in the USHL and had winning records in both of those years, but other than that we don't have much to base our opinion on.

to the assistant head coach? I think it would go to Cary Eades, the associate head coach first.

amazing that you weren't on here that much during the wins....Game is not over, it is the second period and a lot can happen...Sorry, but I refuse to give up on my team..I cheered for my team and hoped for a win until the very last seconds of the 6-1 loss to BC and I will cheer for them in a 2-0 deficit in the 2nd.

about 8 minutes left....we were leading in SOG at the end of the 1st, not sure about now.

it would seem that these refs do not like calling hits from behind...they have missed more than one.

i have respect for them, i just have more frustration with our team right now.

that was very cool how they were giving props to the Fighting Sioux family and tradition.

Good news, it is only the end of the 1st....I am not sure why, but this reminds me of the game vs. Wisco in 2008(?) at the Regional in Wisconsin where we played horribly for the first two periods and then came out strong in the third and won in ot. (Knock on wood, so i don't accidently jinx us)
