You are so right. Over a long enough period of time, I say it's a certainty.

I don't suppose any of you would have a reason to check out the hfboards Chicago site for game threads. When the Hawks are losing, that place is pretty entertaining--the coach is an idiot and every player should be benched. It's just frustration speaking, of course, but those fans are pretty intense and the result is hilarious. Sometimes the frustration we feel makes us vent in a way that seems like "sky is falling" talk. At least that's what it looks like from where I sit. Though I have to say, if we don't get another goalie on campus, we might as well be in Madison.

In just about any rink, seats on the turn are best, and low on the second level is the pick of the litter, in my experience. Even in small rinks watching kids play, if you can stand on the glass at the turn, you can't do any better.
-
Yeah, I could see that on the second goal too. But some of that is probably confidence and comfort level.

Watching on TV doesn't give you a full sense of what is happening on the ice, but for goaltending performance it can sometimes be better than being at the rink when it comes to reviewing goals. I thought H played very well. Goal 1 is not on him. Goal 2, if not tipped, was. But he made some very nice saves down the stretch. Hard to complain about that performance. It is impossible to tell, this early, what any team will be like down the road, but this could be a very good Beaver team. And there really isn't a reason to think we won't be in the hunt in March. We may find ourselves thinking these early goalie injuries were a good thing, giving the backups a chance to get some valuable experience.

Parise had one very early.

Hammer is getting more comfortable with this game of hockey. Prefer some of the goofball stuff, though.

This actually a good Beaver hockey team. They will win some games this year.

Losing a lot of battles on the wall

Yikes. And the Beavers beat Duluth.

BU outshooting UW by something like 32-6.

I wouldn't put the first goal on H. Point blank range. A Sioux player was gliding on the back check and could have challenged that shot if he'd been skating. Second goal, yeah--unless it was tipped.

Pumped for tonight. First time I've had a chance to see the boys this year. Might get to see Wilbur play to boot.
-
Wilbur is waiting to be begged. What a jerk.
-
Just having fun.

With so many new forwards who need to learn defensive responsibility, maybe questionable goaltending early on will shorten that important learning curve. These guys are learning early on that it is their responsibility to back-check and cover in the defensive zone.

Dang, Fetch, someone steal your controversy or did you just wake up confused?

What exactly to you mean by "UND is corrupt."

Amen

I think "character issue" does not need to imply criminal type misbehavior. If they had a very talented prospect who they thought could not be coached away from seeing himself as primarily a goal scorer who would not completely buy into his responsibilities at the other end of the ice, they would probably pass on him.

Not to go all gopher fan here, but as nice as it would have been to get a Dman of his caliber, missing on Fabbro doesn't seem that bad to me. Although we are about to lose a lot on the blueline, we've got a lot of talent on campus and coming in, and what we need is goaltending to come through, the right kind of chemistry, and maybe a little bit of Lady Luck. We have the talent.

Blais woulda had them ready to play

USCHO has MS beating LSSU 4-1

The Sioux have definitely laid some eggs at the finish, but for years they have been exceptionally good down the stretch. They've built their reputation on that, whether it was accurate or not.

living near Madison for the past 23 years, I've usually tried to catch the Sioux games in town. Those were almost always packed, high energy games, and Badger fans loved the Sioux rivalry. A great college hockey venue that now sucks. Hard to believe.
