  1. I wouldn't exactly classify posting anonymously on a fan site as being "assertive" about anything. Extremely needy, maybe. "Assertive" is for real life matters, such as your job or your community service. Vindication? For whom? For what? What are the gophers to you, or you to the gophers (you probably get the Hamlet reference)? This is a great game, Dave, you should try to just enjoy it for what it is. Whether the gophers win 5 titles in a row or miss the tournament 5 years in a row will not change your personal life one iota. Just have some fun with it.
  2. Possibly, but without him we don't win #8, IMO. And I know you aren't saying otherwise, scpa.
  3. We know you need validation from us, Davie, or you wouldn't spend all your time here. There can be only two explanations for that: either you value our hockey knowledge and judgment more than other fan bases, including gophers, or you don't feel welcome over on GPL, Or both. Try to understand that it's OK that they don't care much for you over on GPL. You aren't from there and you didn't go to school there, so you're one of a large number of band wagoners, . Bt you're still a fan, and that's all that matters. You could be some old retired shopkeeper from New Jersey living in Ft. Lauderdale--you'd still have a right to brag about Mich St., Union, or whoever you want. As far as getting validation from us, keep at it. You're failing miserably now, but what other options to you have to feel like somebody cares?
  4. And that is not a surprise, given what walked out the door last year. UND fans just haven't had to deal with it much for years. That's why it's frustrating when fans automatically conclude that when they lose the players aren't trying or the coaching staff isn't making the right decisions. The team culture hasn't changed; we just don't have the horses we had last year.
  5. Not surprised, UMinn is good and PSU has played nobody.
  6. Yeah. But as old as I am, there are more and more things I should know but don't. Not supposed to be this way.
  7. I like coming into series like this one. There is a lot on the line and no guarantee we will come out the winner. Good stuff. It also makes me so grateful that for many years we have always come into the home stretch with a reason to use the spurs and whip.
  8. And "there are people" could be thirty fans active in social media. Out of a fanbase of . . . ? As you say, that bunch will always be there.
  9. It might very well be he's not 100%, and there are a lot of points on the sliding scale of injury. He may be dealing with a nagging problem that the medical staff determined did not present an aggravation or long term injury risk. Staff and players alike make mistakes, but I trust Berry and the staff to protect our players. They understand even better than we that UND's rep for protecting the kids' health is critical to recruits, recruits' parents, and pro clubs who own their rights.
  10. Despite Jeff's disappointing last years, he was loved here in Wisconsin. If I remember correctly, the first hockey game I saw in the Old Ralph was the first game played there. Jeff was on the other bench for CC.
  11. Red face. Eyes bulging. Lying on the floor by the candy display kicking his feet and crying his head off. You take Davie out to the car, I'll take care of the groceries. He'll fall asleep on the way home.
  12. Someone should put together a failure ranking system that takes into account on-ice success and factors such as enrollment size, media revenue, and other factors that should foster success. The B1G would have to rank right near the top of the failure heap, worse even than they have been in PRW ranking the last 3 years. How do they do so little with so much? If I were a B1G hockey fan, I'd learn to like football.
  13. In just about any rink, I like the turn. If it's community rink and I can, I will stand at the glass on the turn. If it's a high capacity rink, I like the turn on the bottom row of the second bowl. You obviously give something up when the puck is deep in the other zone, but still prefer it if I can choose whose end I'm at.
  14. Do we want home ice?
  15. Make up. They missed a call against the Hawks just earlier. Fair.
  16. these CC announcers are really objective.
  17. Very good period of hockey. Keep it up and they will win this.
  18. Hope the Hawks hammer them tonight. But I have to say I've always liked CC. They've been down for several year, but they played a very good, fast-paced brand of hockey not long ago. Tiny school that has built a bit of an identity around hockey. I hope they get it back, just not tonight.
  19. Just for fun, you guys should visit the Blackhawks game thread on HFboards sometime. They go down two goals and it gets truly ugly. No wonder Chi has so many murders.
  20. I've really liked Bowen's play too. He has speed and he uses all of it.
  21. That's great. Everyone loves an underdog with heart and determination. And that kind of player can inspire too.
  22. Boy, it was a real mess when we played them. Worst I've seen in a long time.
  23. Dave, You have to understand that everyone here knows you are misrepresenting yourself on this site, and there are many tells. The main one is this: If I were a passionate Hawks fan and had been for years, would I spend my time over on GPL posting about how good the Hawks are? Of course not. I would have no reason to. If I did, they would conclude very quickly that I was just there to draw attention to myself by irritating gopher fans. EVERYBODY remembers that kid from middle school--acting up just to get attention. We've all had to deal with him or her. Would I go over to GPL from time to time for some good-natured ribbing or sincere hockey talk that was not just constant expressions of how good the Hawks are or how weak the Gophers are? Sure, and they would give me a little shat back but be OK with it. Pull yourself away from the mirror a second and watch some other non-UND fans who come here and participate in honest-to-goodness hockey talk. There are a LOT of gopher fans in eastern NoDak and where I live in the heart of Badger country. And those gopher fans are committed and passionate, even though they live in Sioux or Badger country. They do not back down, and they do not waiver in their support. But they are mature about it, and they do not constantly use their fandom simply as a means to get attention. They are FANS, not children. I live 50 minutes from Madison. Most of the people I live around, work with, and am friends with are Badger fans. A friend of mine played for the Badger hockey team. Many of them know I am a Sioux/Hawks fan, but not all. I talk smack with them from time to time, but it is friendly. Most of our exchanges are about hockey, not how good UND is or how bad UW is. It's about hockey, not about me. I'm no model, but you need to grow the fark up. Have some fun smacking UND fans now and then, but if all you can do is go on about how good the gophers or the B1G is, do that where people care. But you won't, you see, and that is why people here know you are a fraud. You are here for attention. I shouldn't be giving it to you, but I suppose there is a slight chance you really are a gopher fan and just don't get it. You can be a passionate gopher fan and have some good conversations here. But not if your goal is only to draw attention to DaveK.
  24. Exactly what came to my mind upon hearing that, Sic. Dean was brutally honest.
  25. Those weirdos always cover for each other.
